Ace's Wild #13

Stick to the Script

Rate this book
It all started with a wicked storm and a naughty script…Jamie-I need a break. The sexy freelance assignment on the East Coast sounds like the perfect getaway...except for the part where I’m stranded at a bed-and-breakfast for the night with a hunky contractor in the midst of a wicked storm. No problem. I can handle light conversation with a ruggedly handsome man for a few hours. Maybe. And I can always get some reading done.OMG! What is in this script?Wyatt-Playing host to fussy artist during an epic storm isn't my idea of fun, but Jamie is a bundle of surprises. And so is the sexy script he brought with him. It reads like a naughty menu of fantasies proper folk would never discuss with a stranger. But these are extenuating circumstances, so why not have some fun, bend the rules and write our own script?

Sexy, kinky (think spanking, collars, and some mild D/s play), and vastly enjoyable, Stick to the Script was a win for me.

This is a novella, so I didn't expect a lot of relationship or character development, but I really liked both Jamie and Wyatt. While the story takes place over the course of a week, the epilogue brings the men's relationship full circle.

If you're in the mood for a hot story with an opposites-attract theme, don't skip this one.

I loved the atmospheric setup to a slightly kinky hookup that turns into something so much more.

It's one of those loud, scary storms that tries to shake the house down. But at the newly remodeled B&B there's no danger from the elements. The only danger is the hot stud playing host. When he also volunteers to play Dom in Jamie's script, things heat up kinky quickly. ;-)

A different kind of Christmas story. Sexy and hot and sweet all rolled into one. Another hit by Ms. Hayes.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 Stars. (Rounding up!)
🔥🔥🔥.5/5 Sizzle Factor

And so we come to our last book in the multi author, “Aces Wild,” series. Each book can be read by itself. I have not read all of the books but have really liked or loved quite a few. Neve Wilder’s was probably my favorite. However I also liked the ones by Alice Winters and Riley Hart/Christina Lee. And I discovered a new author to follow when I read the one by Jaclyn Quinn!

I’ve become a big fan of Lane Hayes after reading her, “Starting From,” and, “Out in College,” series. I’m also working my way through her, “Leaning Into,” series but haven’t loved those as much. None of her books have had any kink so I was curious how this one would be. Also, I personally am not into super heavy kink so I was a little nervous! I’d say I lean towards the mild-medium when I choose to read it.

I should have known that Lane wouldn’t let me down with the story or the kink handling. The kink was light, the angst was low and the story was sizzling and fun. Things did go from lust to love in the blink of an eye. But with the length of the story, I kind of expected it so I wasn’t unhappy. Plus, I don’t know about you but sometimes I just want a happy little story with high feels and zero drama. 🤷🏻‍♀️😍

This was a good, quick read.

This was set up well and executed well. I felt the chemistry between Jamie and Wyatt, who meet after Jamie comes for work he's doing with some friends, but they can't make it due to whether so flights are delayed and Jamie is stuck in the B&B they were gonna shoot some pictures at, alone with Wyatt, the son of the owners of said B&B.

It doesn't take long for them to give into their attraction, and for them to learn they both have kinky sides that line up.

Things happen quickly for this couple - only 8 days - but for how short this is (only 100 pages), it makes sense. I didn't care so much about the short time because the author took the time for them to get to know each other in those 8 days and it wasn't just all sex the whole time. We got pages of convos, seeing them start to fall in love, and that makes the quick timeline okay, in my book. With short stories like this, you have to make the romance believable and Hayes made it believable, in my book.

Definitely recommend! I quite enjoyed this. Two thumbs up!

Everything about Stick to the Script by Lane Hayes worked. At first, I wondered how the set up would be able to deliver a full story in 100 pages, but it was perfect. I think for Jamie, he was able to let down his inhibitions and allowed his desires to come out, because like he said, he'll never see Wyatt again. Wyatt could feel it even if he didn't know it, that his connection to Jamie was more than just a hookup. They just meshed well together.

Some highlights:

-Dual POVs
-Low angst, feel good
-(Small) Age gap
-This story is smoking hot.
-Kink factor is light- just enough for me.
-I loved their first meeting- Jamie was awkward and tongue tied. Adorable!
-Wyatt in bed- growly and possessive yet tender.

While feelings did grow fast, when you know, you know.

"And in the way you just know that something feels right, I knew that was what I wanted. This man and a start. Don't ask me how I knew he fit; I just did."

Stick to the Script is a delightful holiday romance.

4.5 Stars. Highly recommend.

Another winner from Lane!! It is a SMOKING HOT novella that’s kink-lite! A sweet, sexy, small age gap, forced proximity read that had me swooning by the time I was finished. Jamie, the sort of shy photographer and Wyatt, the confident, sexy, construction worker have incredible chemistry and although this is a bit insta, because yeah it is a novella, it was truly organic and did not feel forced. I reread this story because in Lane’s new book, Starting From The Top (3/5), also a fantastic, smoking hot, age gap read, there is mention of a few characters from this book and although you don’t have to read Script in order to read the new one, if you have, it will bring a smile to your face. It’s funny because I asked Lane if when she wrote Script, she had all of the Starting From books planned out that far in advance and she said ABSOLUTELY NOT! But, it clearly worked!! If you are looking for something quick, sweet and did I mention SMOKING HOT?? LOL, then you must definitely need to read Stick To The Script..Actually, I recommend all the books in the Aces Wild series!!

Hot!

This was so different to what Lane usually writes, and I loved it!

It was sexy and hot, with a side of sweetness that she always brings to her stories.

Oh boy, I don't think I realized this was book 13 in a series! I know, I know, it isn't really a series that has to be read in order but well, that's how I roll normally. But, Lane Hayes so I had to have it, I don’t even need to read the blurb truthfully, she is one of my favorites for sure. Bonus that is takes place around Christmas! I am full into my Christmas reads and didn’t realize this would fit right in!

So, I really liked this story. I love, love, love an insta-love story that does not feel like one. These guys had some sort of connection that felt like years and not days and I am so freaking glad it played out exactly the way it did.

Another thing I love in my stories, especially at this time of year? Storms. Storms that leave you stranded. Although this wasn’t snow, it still read like a perfect set up for togetherness.

And lastly, that kink. Not normally my kind of thing if I’m being honest but here, it was done so well and it was so f’n hot and for a brief moment in time it totally was my thing.

Yeah to the mention of Zero!

Good stuff!

Unleash your desires

If I ever get to visit Vintage Ridge in my dreams, I'm staying at The Garden House for a few reasons. One, it sounds beautiful. Two, I want to meet Wyatt's mom. Three, it's like a fantasy B&B. And it included a sneaky cameo or should I say prelude? Jamie is adorable all the time but extra cute when he's being awkward. Wyatt, umm, yes please. I love growly, possessive, tender; he hits all my buttons.

"If you're dreaming, so am I. And I don't want to wake up." Yay for curiosity and storms. Mmm, Jamie should never listen and I love it when good boys go bad. I adore how Wyatt teases Jamie and becomes his safe harbor. They're so flipping sweet together but their chemistry makes this book spark. I love the atmosphere that Lane Hayes built in this book. The storm, the sexual byplay between Jamie and Wyatt, the script, the dialogue, combine all those with some sexy kink, it's combustible. Best of all though is the love and trust these two found. I’m so happy they made their own script.

This was sweet, playfully kinky and I liked the MCs... Wyatt & Jamie a lot but I struggled to connect to their story, I can't seem to put my finger on why.

TAGS
-- Holiday/Christmas -- fast easy read -- sweet -- light kink -- made me chuckle -- liked the MCs -- there was definitely a spark -- insta love/lust -- trouble connecting -- didn't knock my socks off -- this may be one of those "it's me not the book"

Lane Hayes is fast becoming one of my favourite authors, the perfect balance of sweet and sexiness in this novella. Love the way there's always a little connection, albeit very brief in this instance, to Lane's other series. Def recommend :)

A bit too sappy for me. I am also not a huge fan of novellas. I only read this one because Lane is a favorite of mine. The writing is good but I just didn't love either MC and there just wasn't enough story to really get me invested in any of the story.

Still glad I read it. Enjoy.

Hot! HOT! Hot!

Instant chemistry between Wyatt and Jaime is the engine that really fuels this love story.
It’s SO hot how they figure out each other’s kinks. Minimal angst but maximum sexiness is pushing this book to the top of my reread list.
Perfect HEA as well.

I enjoyed this little holiday tale - I don’t know how I’d missed it when I read the others in the Aces Wild series but when I saw I had then I added it to my list to get to. There’s not a massive amount of backstory or plot in this but if you are happy to live in the moment, with an instalove tale then you will enjoy this one.

Really hot with a bit of kink for good measure!

Stick to the Script is a bit different from other books I've read by Lane Hayes. It's a bit on the kinky side with some super-hot scenes between two consenting adults. Give the blurb a read; it's sets up the story really well.

Bad weather forces a change in plans for photographer, Jamie, and he gets a nice surprise in the form of a hunky handyman/carpenter, Wyatt. The two feel an instant connection but Jamie is wary about getting involved with someone who lives so far away. It doesn't take long for Wyatt to break down Jamie's defenses and they end up like bread and butter; they belong together.

Stick to the Script is a fairly quick read but it doesn't skimp on the details needed to make a great story. The connection between Jamie and Wyatt felt real to me and Lane Hayes writing was great. While this story does take place around Christmastime, it's the kind of book that can be enjoyed any time of year as the mention of Christmas isn't at all central to the story.

I have thoroughly enjoyed every single book of Lane Hayes that I've read and Stick to the Script is no exception. The other great thing about this book (and the others in the series) is that for the first 90 days of this title's publication, all sales and Kindle Unlimited page reads will be donated to PFLAG.

This was an incredibly sensual, fantastic, fascinating, smoking hot, sweetly kinky, grab-you-by-the-feels, slightly naughty, delightful, and totally awesome story. Lane Hayes has written one hell of a tale, and I would DEFINITELY recommend getting this gem immediately!!!

This is one sexy, sexy story. Of course, any chance to go visit Ace’s Wild, just makes it that much better, but it was getting way sexy before they even got there. It’s got heat for sure. And there’s a pun there you’ll see once you read it lol.
Jamie is kind of ready for this photo shoot his friend wants to do. But he’s not read the script yet, so no telling what will happen with this photo shoot. Of course, he may never get to take photos if he can’t quit drooling over the owners’ son, Wyatt. But the storm is making him jumpy and scared and to put him at ease, Wyatt decides to read the script with Jamie so he can get a feel for what he will be doing. But the script is heating up more than the room and is making Jamie act in ways he’s never done. And Wyatt is letting him be free to do so. When the storm continues, Jamie’s friends and the models can’t fly there, and that B&B gets a lot hotter. But things have had a way of popping up during this time as well, that are making things a bit uneasy. Especially when it’s time for Jamie to go home. Can they actually go their seperate ways or are the going to do like they said and finally follow their dreams?
When I say this is a sexy story, I mean it. It’s definitely got a heat rating and that’s before they even make it to Ace’s Wild. Not counting what happens after they go. But what I love about this story, is for the first time in Jamie’s life, he finally found someone, albeit a stranger, that he feels free enough to just explore and venture into a side of him he never has before. He finally feels free to do so. Wyatt keeps him so at ease, or can be the daddy/dom type to take charge and take over so Jamie can just feel. It’s a new experience for Jamie. Part of him is freaked, which is understandable. But what makes it better is Wyatt. Wyatt simply sets his fears at ease. He’s open and honest and up front with things he says or does or how he feels. Which makes Jamie ok. He can relax. So I love the chemistry these two have. And it’s an intimacy as well. Which is very special. Anyone can just screw around and move on, but to be intimate, is a whole other story.
It’s the perfect fit with the rest of the Ace’s Wild books. More to add to the family that Ace and Wilder have seem to adopted. In a way. It’s been fun reading this series. And I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.

"Make me," I taunted.
"You sure you want to try me? If I come over there, I'm gonna leave you a little something to remind you who's boss." I snorted sarcastically. "I'm shaking."
Wyatt grinned as he moved toward me. "You should be."

While this book wasn't anything original, the "awkward MC meets suave sexy blue collar MC" is always a premise that I'm here for! The ending was sugar sweet - I would've taken maybe 50 more pages of relationship building and even some harder angst to give these guys their HEA! I did enjoy the use of and how Jamie wanted to keep it on during their time together.

I’m a huge fan of this author because her smooth writing style, easy dialogue, great characters, and sweet romances never fail to put me in a good mood. And yet, I hesitated picking up Follow the Script because it didn’t really seem like my kind of story.

In many ways, I got what I always expect from Miss Hayes. I loved the setting and really liked the characters. I also thought the setup was different and cute, but it didn’t feel as natural as many of her books and I never really felt that spark between Jamie and Wyatt outside of the physical chemistry. I think the lack of connection meant that heat in this book didn’t quite translate for me, and just when I settled in for more from the characters, it was over. That isn’t to say it lacked a resolution, just that I wanted a bit more time. I did like how she tied this novella into her other current series (“Starting From”), and I’m hoping that means we get a bit more closure with this couple. Overall, I think Stick to the Script is best suited for those readers who may enjoy a bit of light kink (there is some spanking and a minor D/s dynamic) in their stories. Given the polished writing and likable characters, I would recommend this short…even if it wasn’t my favorite from the author.

Picture This

Jamie has lived his life vicariously through the photos he takes for his friend Clay's books. Behind his camera he is able to talk about things he would never mention otherwise and some of those pictures speak to a hidden part of himself he has never shared with anyone.

Wyatt co-owns a construction company with his ex and is staying at his parents B&B while they are out of town. When Jamie arrives for a photoshoot at the B&B both feel a pull toward the other but Jamie is definitely the more reserved. Jamie's friends are unable to make it because of a bad storm and this leaves Jamie and Wyatt stranded there alone.

Clay usually writes a script that they use during the photoshoot to set the mood and when Wyatt suggests reading it together a spark ignites and any reservations or inhibitions are forgotten in the heat of their rising passion.

I really liked this book. I found Jamie and Wyatt to be well drawn and I grew to care for them and I wanted them to find a way to make this work long term. I could feel the heat and emotion in their words and actions and I liked that the story was more than just physical but had depth to it also. I highly recommend this book.

Jaime is supposed to meet a friend and business partner to do a photo shoot, but no one else makes it to the location before a storm hits the area. Now, Jaime is stuck in a bed and breakfast with just the owner's hunky son. Wyatt has just finished remodeling his parent's B&B and agrees to help out the people coming in for the photo shoot right before the holidays, letting his parents visit their grandchildren. He doesn't expect to find something special with Jaime.

I loved both Jaime and Wyatt. They fit together so well and in ways neither of them expected. They both found new depths within themselves and embraced the kinks they explored.

This story was the perfect mix of hot, fun, and sweet. I liked that they were honest with each other and talked about things as they happened. I liked that Wyatt was upfront about his ex. While their connection happened quickly, it felt solid and strong. I loved the epilogue. I almost wished we could have seen Wyatt's parents as some point because they sounded like a hoot.

This is one my favorites in the Ace's Wild series that I've read so far.

Wooow !

Stick to the Script is the last book in the Ace's Wild series made up of various authors whose stories all set in the same town. I'm a huge fan of Lane and her books and I have to say this is one of my favorites of hers! The story is fun and sexy and the writing is great! Jamie is in town for a photo shoot and gets snowed in. He's stuck at the B&B where he was planning to take pictures for a friend. Sexy photos. Now he's trapped with the sexy Wyatt, the owners' son until the storm is over. It's not exactly a hardship since Wyatt is sexy as sin, older and fun to be with. Jamie can do this. He's been around attractive men before, but no one like Wyatt. When things heat up Jamie discovers a side to him he didn't know was hiding. Wyatt is happy to help Jamie act out his fantasies, but what happens when he gets attached to the younger man? Could they make a long distance relationship work? Isn't it too soon? I loved this story! Jamie is so handsome and funny and Wyatt is sexy and manly. Together they are hot! I wouldn't mind seeing these characters again, wink, wink!

This is book #13, in the Ace's Wild series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. This series is a whole lot of fun. Comes highly recommended, and not just by me.

Jamie has made it through the storm, only to find out he is the only one of his party to get there. When he finds himself alone with the proprietor's son, he figures he will wait it out. The storm is raging both inside and out. Can he resist?

Wyatt had been helping his parents remodel, and decided to stay on and see this event through. Little did he know the hottest man he has seen in a while would step through the doors and be his alone for a couple days. Should he resist when a gift like that appears?

Such an amazing connection is shared by these characters! I was hooked and could not wait for the final pages. Always bittersweet. I was enjoying every laugh and every touch. This was a great story to read over the holidays.
