ABOUT THIS EPISODE

The Golden Ratio killer resurfaces in California to target a former victim, and this time the case takes Malcolm and Seong-Jae hunting deep into his past, searching for connections between victim and killer that may reveal his identity. But with the killer one step ahead of them, toying with them, leaving false trails at every turn, it's like playing Russian Roulette — and if they guess the wrong suspect out of a potential five, one misstep could leave many more dead.

With Malcolm and Seong-Jae's domestic life — and sex life — up in the air they're off their game, off the mark, and already starting to crack. But they aren't the only ones, as back in Baltimore Huang kicks a new plan into motion and Anjulie finds herself under unwanted scrutiny. Everyone's lives are falling apart.

And if they can't get their sh*t together, more than their relationships may crash and burn.

ABOUT SEASON TWO

Malcolm Khalaji and Seong-Jae Yoon are back on the case — and partnering with the FBI on a horrific serial murder case that will test Malcolm's faith and revive the darkest parts of Seong-Jae's past. With an enigmatic killer leading them on a wild goose chase through city after city and body after body, both Mal and Seong-Jae will find themselves pushed to their limits as they discover the worst of what humanity can do.

Even two minds against one may not be enough as they track the devious Golden Ratio Killer, and try to find the key to his pattern. But the trail of breadcrumbs left by the white rabbit will lead them suspiciously close to home, and a connection they never could have predicted. With their worlds exploding around them and everyone they know suddenly cast into doubt...

Can their partnership — and their love — survive the greatest trial of their lives?

Slender. Angry. (Part) Asian.

Yeah, that about sums me up.

Hi. I’m Cole. Xen. Whatever you want to call me; both are true, and both are lies. My pen names are multitudes, my nicknames legion. Tall, bi/queer, introverted author of a brown-ish persuasion made up of various flavors of Black, Asian, and Native American. I’m cuter than Hello Kitty, more bitter than the blackest coffee, and able to trip over cats in a single half-asleep lurch; I’m what happens when a Broody Antihero and a Manic Pixie Dream Boy fight to the death, and someone builds a person from the scraps left behind. Beardless, I look like the uke in every yaoi manga in existence; bearded or not, I sound like Barry White. About half my time is spent as a corporate writer, and the other half riding a train of WTFery that sometimes results in a finished book. Romance, erotica, sci-fi, horror, paranormal; LGBTQIA and cishet; diverse settings and diverse characters from a diverse author.

Sometimes I shout about things on the internet. Usually intersectional feminism and marginalized voices, and whomever’s punching down in those directions today. Sometimes human sociology, the psychology of sex and gender, and my own gender non-conforming arse (he/him, by the way). Sometimes I get really mad at Stephen Hawking and nerd out all over the place about hairy black holes, and believe it or not, that’s not a terrible pun or even worse innuendo.

That’s it. I’m a huge dork. My humor’s so dry it could empty oceans. I’m a native Southerner from the New Orleans area with zero Southern accent; I’m a mess of multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, multi-lingual influences; I have two cats. I wake up at daft hours of the morning to go running. I crochet terrible, lumpy things that never really turn into anything. I’m older than you think I look. I’m much more shy than my fury makes me sound (signifying gods only know what, but probably nothing). Recently I decided, at 36, that I needed to restart my life and move cross-country, so I tossed 75% of my possessions in the trash and randomly trucked it to Seattle. I’m in love with books and music and technology, and they war with each other for dominance and sometimes come together in a beautiful confluence. Most of the physical books I own are strange, obscure, out of print, overseas imports, or any combination of the four. Most of the physical books I used to own were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina, and have been replaced with the infinite library on my Nook. My wallet has a dangerous attraction to anything with pages; it flirts and teases and gives its all, until there’s nothing left but emptiness and ruin.

There will always be things you don’t know, and I won’t tell.

But ask me late at night over live music in a seedy bar, and you might just get an honest answer.

Her only song is a song of blood, as her mouth fills with the salt taste of her own slow and grinding end.

Warning! Gushing and more Gushing!

Cole decided season 2 is going to be bloody and I am here for it. But Daaaammnn!! this is so sick. I have sat through gory episodes of SVU and Criminal minds.

description

This was too short. I loved everything about it except the freaking psycho killer. Ugh!! This guy is twisted 🥨. Ewww! Just Ewww!!

Malcom and Seong-Jae! Gaaaaaaaah! My loves, I am back to obsessing about you. I love their dynamics, their conversations and I am really hoping this season Seong-Jae will be open. Pleeeaassee!! I know he is trying but still. My Mal deserves more than trying. I love SJ too. He just frustrates me a tiny bit sometimes.

Sade! Sade! Ohh Lawd! What the fuck are they thinking/ doing?

description

OMFG!!! That SEX SCENE!!! That freaking scene. GAAAAAHHH!!! Cole you kinky kinky guy! You have been holding out on me?

description

The chemistry between Mal and Seong-Jae is out of this world, everything about them is hot. I read that scene way too many times.

Joshi? is still a hmmmm!!!! He better not interfere with anything. Or.....

I always try to make good on my threats promises, so... tadaaaaa:

No worries, this will probably be the last one for awhile, so there's no need for calling in a higher power. ;-)

What a sick f*ck!!!!! Umm, the killer, not Mal. He's seriously creeping me out. Gahh, the killer, not Mal. ;-)

I'm aware that I'm turning a blind eye to some things here (love-blind idiot and hardcore fan that I am), like the fact that I have zero concept of the maths used here and I don't even try to understand how the mind of this shithead works, but the most important thing is the relationship between Mal and Seong-Jae for me (yeah, I know I'm repeating myself) and I swear to God, these two will be the death of me. Granted, there are probably worse things than dying of a heatstroke due to a more than hot sex scene, moreover one I thought I wouldn't enjoy much because of the kink in focus here. ;-) And boy, did I enjoy it. *cough*

I still trust Joshi only as far as I can throw him, so my Kindle received some very leery looks from me and he has a long way ahead of him to convince me he's one of the good guys.

Once again there are different POV's and I have a feeling they are important for the overall storyline (we yet have to get the bigger picture) and will convene eventually. And Sade and Huang? I'm almost as invested in them as in Mal and Seong-Jae and damn, if they didn't rip my heart out here... Oh, and not to forget Mal's dad: he's is the best! ;-)

This book was a bit short - too short if you ask me, but aren't the best ones all? - and I would have wished for more scenes only with Mal and Seong-Jae, but for me this is brilliant enough writing that I can't deduct more than a half star.

Every time he thought he knew himself, Seong-Jae showed him…

He didn’t know himself at all.

In Sequence is the 15th book in the series but Cole McCade keeps surprising me. I was shelving this as a detective-romance, but now I’d have to add erotica to the mix because that scene was so damn sexy.

Arash turned his head toward Seong-Jae, watching him gravely. “Take care of my boy, would you? Don’t let that city eat him alive. Malcolm isn’t made for places like that. It’s all glass and steel and cold and gray things, and my boy… he’s made for clay and earth and warmed places.

I’m in love with Malcom’s parents. Cole McCade writes the best cast of side characters: everyone has a story, desires and a personality so perfectly built that all of them feel human.

“It...never stops hurting, Seong-Jae. Some things never stop hurting.” He kissed Seong-Jae fingertips, then settled to rest his head to his chest once more, holding him that much tighter. “It’s like looking into the sun. Sooner or later you learn not to… but that blinding light is always there.”

For those who read the book and get what scenes I'm talking about:

“What happened to your lower lip?”

Malcolm actually flushed -barely visible beneath that beard and tawny skin, but there. He ran his thumb over the scabbed split in his lower lip, clearing his throat, and grinned-wolfish, dark. “Slipped while trimming my beard while half asleep. Shock and awe, scissors are actually sharp.”

Seong-Jae closed his eyes.

Oh, God.

***

Between Sila and Aanga Joshi… Malcolm was seriously beginning to question Seong-Jae’s taste in men.

This episode was painful and so unfair to the victims. Although no one deserves such a death. Or suffer the consequences of it.
I hate the killer.
They begin to search the past, hoping to find something that will give them his identify. But it's not so easy.

"As if the killer was saying this is for you. I prepared this meal for you, for you to pick apart and devour and consume in your voyeuristic hunger for my work."

Mal and Seong-Jae hold each other through all this mess, and I feel like I'm with them in their bubble when they can breathe, because it's the most remarkable moment where you get hope and love.

Malcom-"You’re no monster. You’re a man…” He nipped his upper lip. “…and you’re my Seong-Jae.” For just a heady moment Seong-Jae pressed harder into him, deeper into him, a kiss fervent and gasping and soft.

Also, Sade, I want them to be happy, but I also want to shake them, their whole situation frustrates me😩❤️.

Cole McCade promised this season of CI would be darker and grittier.
And hell yes, it is that and more.
Intense. Shocking. Toe curling. Heart stopping.

I have a feeling I might have to skim chapter 1 in the following books, or read it like this ...

I am truly horrified, and believe me, I’m not just saying that. Being in the POV of the person being killed has always been the MO for the first chapter in this series, but what happens with the Golden Ratio Killer is terrifying, harrowing, gruesome … just simply goddamn awful!

The reason why I feel so strongly about it is, no doubt, Cole McCade’s writing. It makes everything so immediate, so real, so absolutely frightening – it’s mind-blowing on a different level.
And as if one serial killer isn't enough, with Sila being still around, too, we get double and triple horror!

Malcolm and Seong-Jae will never ever bore me. I actually do get edgy when we get other people’s POV (as much as I love the set-up!) because I don’t want to leave them, even for a second.

The psychological burden and the sheer pressure they go through during this case and its horrors are huge. And both men ARE deeply affected. It is incredibly gratifying and uplifting to see them support each other, hold each other up, often just by a touch or a smile or …

Yeap, that sex scene. I gasped. I held my breath. cause ...
We find out another one of Seong-Jae’s secrets. And omg. Saying no more. Apart from – that scene is stunning. Absolutely incredible.

Other highlights:

.) Malcolm and Theo: my heart melted. I still think about that scene.
.) Min Zhe and Sade: Why? Why does this have to be so sad? I can’t see any possible positive outcome between them.
.) Joshi and Malcolm facing off.
.) Cara made an appearance! I want more of Cara again. She made me smile!

Fantastic, clever and brilliant writing!

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*Unsure How I Feel*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

Seong-Jae and Mal are now in Los Angeles, living in the top-floor penthouse suite of their Los Angeles hotel, as they are on this inter-agency case to hunt The Golden Ratio Killer. How long they'll be staying there is all up to how fast they catch TGRK. One thing with this series that I truly like is the content warning and the Q&A the author gives us for each episode. Oh and I also should say that I actually skip chapter zero. That said, I'm not entirely sure as to how I feel about this book. It might be that sex scene? . Overall, I'm glad it wasn't long, but this book felt so..... unfinished? I don't know how to explain it but it didn't feel ... right? I dunno. This is a strange feeling. Maybe I'm just tired. Guess I'm on to the next one.

The Characters:
The list is a bit long so I've put it in a spoilers tag.

“Even the worst things end,” he agreed softly, that emptiness in his voice so hollow, so heavy. “But what concerns me most…is how.”

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (Adult) Contemporary Romance (M/M).
Series: - Series, Book Fifteen.
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - Malcolm ‘Mal’ Khalaji.
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Yes, I think so.
Would I recommend this book/series? - Unsure.
Will I read this again in the future? - Unsure...
Rating - 3/2.5 stars.

edit: alright, I feel bad. my mistake, she’s autistic! just learned it in book 20. I still don’t like her though.

as good and as creepy these books are getting, I just can't stand the 1-2 interactions with the new sade🙂 with her cat ears, huge pink glasses and the apparently 'cute' telling it how it is! IT'S FREAKING ANNOYING, IS WHAT IT IS! and I hope she dies soon. this is how I picture her, *just add crutches* AND I DON'T LIKE THAT SH* SHE'S NOT A KID!

4.5 stars. *coughcough* Well, ok then. *fans self* I wish it were all sweetness and fire but it's not. Well, I guess I don't really wish that but damn. *shivers*

I've said this before but it bears repeating. Cole McCade is a little bit scary because his killer here and the psychological effect he's having on not just our guys but the reader *meaning me* as well is honestly chilling. Not to mention the undercurrents constantly rippling. Things you can feel are in motion but no matter how you look you just can't see it coming, kind of like a shark circling under water. I actually kind of wish I were exaggerating here but it doesn't feel like it. Everything is giving me anxiety. Except for Mal and Seong-Jae. *sigh*

I so very much appreciate how solid, how in-tune Mal & Seong-Jae are here. Seong-Jae is letting Malcolm see all of him, even the parts he thinks Mal will not be able to accept. *Wrong. So SO wrong!!* No matter what personal demons being back at the Bureau or in the presence of Aanga Joshi are bringing back for Seong-Jae, he is not turning away from Mal, not even once. That was what I feared most for this season. And Malcolm needs Seong-Jae just as much. The strength they draw from each other might be the only thing that brings them through this as mentally and emotionally undamaged as possible.

And I see that Joshi is not quite done being an asshat. But I still win in that situation, because no matter how he might be getting under Malcolm's skin, Mal is being cool and putting him right in his place. It gives me life every time he does! <3

Though absolutely grisly, the investigations are still fascinating and I'm as engrossed in that part of the story as I am our guys. Ok, that's *probably* a lie but it's close!

And Min Zhe and Sade are killing me. :'( I'm so afraid of what's coming for them because anything connected to Sila will always be terrible.

Is it next month yet?

Reread #1

This epiosde, as small as it is, is still so powerful for me for all the little things it has.
........................

So many secrets, so many revelations.

So much hurt and so much hope.

So much love and so much care.

Mal and SJ are just epic. Truly an epic couple, who would each do anything for the other. It's True that Mal is more giving, but SJ is trying and he shows his love in smaller quantities because he doesnt really know how. But he's trying and i love that.

As my buddy reader @Nik Nak pointed out: SJ is basically a cat, Mal is his hooman and SJ would sometimes be like... You may pet me now hooman. It's adorable. ❤

Also... that sex scene... dude. It was HAWT, emotional, and so poignant with regards to SJ's needs and Mal's unconditional love for him.

Another gory, gruesome and intense read, though my boys still shine. They've grown into a couple that need and support each other. I love all the brief, secret touches to show they are always there for each other.

I loved seeing Malcom with little Theo, though I hate the reason behind their meeting. I'm not really loving this format, I much preferred the boys in their home setting and I think part of the problem is knowing that there are still so many more books of blood and gore to read before that effed up whack-job serial killer is caught.

4 “intimacy stars” ⭐️ WOW! This episode was really INTENSE and DARK! These creepy murders were certainly not what I expected. The killer patterns are more complex and exhausting. The killing scenes are evolving more terrible and dreadful. It is ridiculous to think Malcolm and Seong-Jae would get a break anytime soon from this thoroughly horrible serial killer.

I love how Malcolm and SJ are holding onto each other, and not letting go of even the situations that are coming to be more brutal. SJ revealed another emotional thing of his life. I love the way their relationship building into something more intimate.

“You're no monster. You're a man...” he nipped his upper lip “...and you're my Seong-Jae”

This episode indicated more interactions between Malcolm and Seong-Jae. Both of them don't keep anything from each other anymore. There was a hot-ish sex scene. Despite Malcolm was a physically massive man, yet his vulnerability was exposed in front of SJ. 🤍

I was hooked from the start, but this has been one of the most challenging episodes I’ve read to date. My limits have been tested.

Chapters 0/3 were brutal. It was just so cruel and unfair. Not just for the victim but also for who gets left behind. I’m wrecked. The Golden Ratio Killer scares the crap out of me.

“Oh, hello, hello, hello.” Then he bared his teeth, curling his fingers, reaching for his gloves. “Do you want to sing a song with me?”

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! 🥺🤭😩

Malcolm and Seong-Jae are under pressure to apprehend this madman before it’s too late. Working as consultants for the FBI, not only is it difficult for Seong-Jae given his history with the BAU, there’s the added pressure of working with an ex and boyfriend at the same time. I’m actually enjoying all the posturing, as long as Malcolm doesn’t get hurt in the process. So far, he’s holding his own 😅

“Latex allergy, and nitrile always cuts off the circulation to my wrists. Seong-Jae’s kind enough to indulge me by keeping latex out of our lives.”

I suspect this season will be hard for all my favourite characters, not just Malcolm and Seong-Jae. It’s only episode 2 and I’m already feeling anxious for Gabrielle who’s had a raw deal. I really want to see her happy (not particularly impressed with a certain Captain right now). Sade and Min Zhe - I see no way forward for this pair of star crossed lovers. Can I also just add how severely lacking in judgement these two are, in terms of their new houseguest. NEVER leave Sila alone!!!!!!!!!!

Now ... there’s a certain development that threw me and initially, I was conflicted. Many will LOVE it. I’d expected it, but not to that extreme. I’ve ventured into some new territory and am definitely a little out of my comfort zone. I’ve actually re-read the scene more than once (lol) and I appreciate it more and more with every re-read. It’s beautifully written and so bloody intimate. Although still hesitant, my feelings this morning vs last night are very different ... Malcolm and Seong-Jae certainly enjoyed it 😅. Am interested to see how this plays out. Can I just say a big thanks to Rosabel 🙌🏻 who’s gone above and beyond to help me out with this.

Am loving this season so far, despite the darkness. With one psychopath on the loose to indulge in his arts and crafts 🤮 and another one in the background biding his time - I’m dreading the inevitable showdown 😬 I have to take a little break for now but I’LL BE BACK ...

This is another gruesome read. I have a feeling I’ll be saying that about most of the books in this series.

Once again it’s proving to be compulsive reading.
I loved the scene with Malcolm and Theo.
And don’t get me started on the one with Malcolm and Seong-Jae. Wow.

Once again that’s your lot. The next book is on my kindle waiting to be read.

My god... this just keeps getting more and more heavy...

hate this killer with all my strength. God, such evil...The amount of detail is giving whiplash... Seeing on tv is one thing, reading is something completely different—more real and even more horrible...

What keeps me going is Malcom (bless him) and Seong-Jae... Baby crow is in such a dark place and only his omr-an can make him feel like a beautiful person. I'm hopelessly in love with them. This time... Jesus mother of of god... Safe worlds and all... SJ you nautghy bastard! But in resume that scene is:

Communication.Consent.Trust.Adaptability.

Beautifully done Cole 🖤🫶

Aanga... get off your own ass please... you're done...

I know the POV from all the other are necessary, but... Gabi´s and Anjulie´s are so boring and pointless... I can't fandom what Cole is going to do with them honestly... Please surprise me!

Sila is sick, no news there...

God this season is going to be heavy, I can feel it in my bones! 😫💔

The case is a really bad one and is breaking my heart that a lot of families are involved, leaving kids alone or just being victims, it's a hurtful, difficult case and the heaviness is always there with the characters feeling it too, crushing them and is getting really hard to read.

This book was shorter than the last one and with a lot of povs from other characters, it's necessary, I totally understand it, but with the case as hard as it is, it's also hard to not read so much of my boys, so I'm basically trying to get use to to this new situation.

Important stuff:
- With every book we find more info about the killer, important stuff that not even our guys know yet, but it sort of gives a "profile" on the dude. I hate him, reading his pov is hard because is like reading a child with killer tendencies and that's just wrong. I hope they don't spend the whole season after him, I don't know what the author plans are, but the heaviness is real.
- I felt angry at this victim's fate, Sindy was a survivor she shouldn't have had to suffer a second time, I wanted the author to give her the strength to be something more, but that would have been imposible in just the second book of the season, is unfair but life is like that.
- Joshi can still go fuck himself! He is hot and cold and he's 50 something old, one would spect a more mature behavior at that age. I don't like him.
- Min Zhe and Sade, I think their situation is a little bit frustrating and since in this book nothing happened to help with the plan of "getting out", I didn't like reading about them much.
- Silas is sick and plotting stuff as always, why the hell they didn't turn him into the authorities is beyond me, they're gonna regret that I'm sure. Whatever information he has, there must be another way to get it. Period.
- THAT sex scene made me uncomfortable, when I was in Mal's pov he was not sure so I couldn't enjoy it, Seong Jae was in the zone, but that wasn't enough and I think the author meant to do that, because even now I think Malcolm doesn't know what to do about it. So here comes trouble...
- I'm liking Malcolm a lot in this season, he's a rock, he is smart, he doesn't let Aanga get the better of him, he protects Seong Jae and he does it all with his sweet touch.
- I'm worried about Seong Jae, I think his demons are gonna eat him once more before he pulls through and thats gonna be hard to watch.

I'm gonna go to the third one, but if the heaviness keeps going I think I'm gonna have to stop for a while. Let's see how it goes! 🥰❤

4.25 stars!

Ugh, I love this series, I really do. I love Malcolm and Seong-Jae so much, who manage to show just how much they love each other in every book.

I rounded this down to 4 stars instead of giving this my usual 5 just because of that feeling of not getting enough of Malcolm and Seong-Jae. While they're still the main characters...it also feels less like they are, you know? And that's fine and I do enjoy the other characters, mostly, but it's becoming more and more an ensemble series and I just wish this is more of them in it. Not to say they didn't get any focus, and the scenes they did have were amazing as usual, but I just...want the POV chapters kept down to just like these two, Anjulie & Gabrielle and Sade (and maybe Min Zhe sometimes).

The POV chapters from Aanga, Adeline, plus Sila and TGRK are just a little too much. Maybe if Aanga and Adeline POV chapters had been introduced when we know them a little more? Because right now I don't really care about about them, sorry to say. I like Adeline well enough, but I don't love her (yet? We'll see) and I still don't feel much for Aanga although he kinda backed off in this...a little bit.

But other than not as much Malcolm and Seong-Jae as I like and a little too much focus on some characters that need a little more build up, in my opinion, I loved this and TGRK is creepy and disgusting and hard to stomach and it's keeping my on my toes as I read and I just can't wait for more.

Can't wait until December 10th! :D

As is the case with second seasons, we are slowly getting introduced to a new cast of characters, which works well because due to the current case, Malcom and Yoon are across the country dealing with this season's psycho. Meanwhile life goes on back home, jobs still need doing, and people get replaced. I like getting glimpses into the "home" setting.

It's only the second episode of this season but practically everything is so dialled up in intensity. Including the romance. Things got, well, a bit molten. In a new way. So that's a thing.

That said, I'm finding the Sade/Huang dynamic less frustrating, a little less boring (even if it's all being dragged out and is losing some of the edge) and instead.. I'm confused. There was some mental dialogue from the latter saying he would burn his empire down for Sade but.. isn't the whole point that he isn't doing that? And that's why they are in the current mess? Who even knows anymore.

As far as the aforementioned psycho, and case, goes.. wow. This one was a little less overwhelming in the gruesome factor, not because the details were any less terrible but there were just less of them. So that was a relief.

I did wonder, after the end of the last book's ending, if that reveal was too obvious, too easy; even though I bought into it. Now I wonder if it's more of an honourary thing. Especially now that there's a new puzzle piece that might fit a whole different picture. I don't know why I bother rambling this vague speculative nonsense when I'm saying nothing anyway because spoilers. Oh well.

Even though last season there were some messed-up cases, Cole McCade has definitely ramped it up. The air in this book felt heavy from the weight of the gruesomeness of the crimes and I just wanted to give Seong-Jae and Malcolm hugs. Both of them really struggled with the investigation but were able to lean on each other. Their role reversal in sex also had me shooook, I'm curious how this will affect them going forward.

“Latex allergy, and nitrile always cuts off the circulation to my wrists. Seong-Jae’s kind enough to indulge me by keeping latex out of our lives.”
This quote killed me!! I am living for Malcolm standing his ground and being possessive of his man. Joshi needs to let it go and focus on the job!

Sila is once again the worst and I wish Min Zhe and Sade would dispose of him already... like murder is wrong but also would not be opposed to Sila being gone.....

There were a lot of different POVs and storylines happening in this story and I'm really curious if by the end of the season they will reconnect.

Until Joshi finished, low, "I hate it." Barely there, but raw, honest admission, heavy and dark. "We have all these doors to choose from, but say we think the door number two is the right one and it's not." His brows furrowed, a harsh sound rising from his throat. "So everyone behind all the other doors is dead. That's what happens when we guess wrong. People die."

The moment Aanga said to Malcolm "You are too soft for him" I should've known what will happen. I should've predicted. And I should've not have hopes that the BDSM warning in the beginning of the book was not about Khalaji and Yoon.

I skipped that part. I mean, the sex part, not the warnings (I always read the warnings). I had to because if I didn't, I would probably stop myself not only from finishing this book, but also from reading the rest of the books as well. I skipped that part, but it still had an impact on my view of Khalaji and Yoon's relationship and I wish, I wish that I had never know what their preferences are. I didn't need to know that.

If it wasn't for the Sindy Carmichael case and for the cute scene between Adelaide Blackthorn and Gage Lombardi, my rating of this book would be lower. Sindy Carmichael's and her family's case, especially her son Theo Carmichael, made me cry buckets, I had trouble to pick this book up again. Why why why are bad things happening to good people? Why? 😢

Oh and the scene between Adelaide and Cara was short, but HILARIOUS, it was exactly what I needed after the bunch of depressing stuff.

And the funeral. It was so painful to get through. No one but father, son and three detectives. No family, no friends, no colleagues, no neighbors. Poor, poor Sindy Carmichael and poor Theo Carmichael. My heart broke for the whole family, but especially for them. I hope that Seth will be found (or maybe it will be better for him to be never found...). And I hope that little Theo will have a good life despite the trauma. Please, let him have a good life 😭

The Golden Ratio Killer truly just gets creepier with every book.

I took a short break from this series but I'm BACK and excited to continue! A shorter episode, but still plenty of action. Seong-Jae is definitely struggling with his mental health while on this brutal case as it's bringing up traumatic memories. I adore how supportive and loving Malcolm and Seong-Jae are, it's just precious 💛 There is also a focus on the side characters this episode, as everyone is trying to figure their shit out (and some are just stirring up shit).

I wasn't expecting what happened at the 57% mark, but in hindsight, it does make sense. It was also hot as hell 👀🔥 But more than that, I love that they were comfortable enough to share their desires with one another and explore greater intimacy in their relationship. Seong-Jae has come a long way from not feeling like he could trust anyone and it was honestly heartwarming.

I have some suspicions about the relationship/connection between Sila and the Golden Ratio Killer, but I suppose time will tell if I'm right 😬

4 stars this time. Less than the other books. I'm gonna explain why.

So:

Detective Yoon:

Detective Khalaji

I want to take some "aparté" to talk about Malcom Khalaji. He's an incredible character. I think everyone who read about him since the first book is amazed by him. He's something else. Something unique. He's everything: good, hot, smart, kind, etc... above all of this I just LOVE the way he LOVES. Not just Yoon, but his parents, his friends. By loving you, he makes you love yourself. . And he's just this "big" cop with a big heart. His scene with the broken little boy in this marked me.

He's the reason this book annoyed me sometimes.
The first season was all about Yoon keeping secrets. That was hard but in the end I totally understand why.
So, when this second episode started with Yoon's past AGAIN , I was a little tired.
Like always Malcom loves Yoon. So Malcom is there, everytime Yoon's need it. Even enduring the childishness of a stupid ex.
An old case reopened and Soon dragged him with him.

There are so many characters, the book is short. It's a mess. Everywhere.
Hope the next book I'll feel more at ease.

PS: there is some scorching HOT scene between these two guys. HOT.

I can say with all honesty that each episode gets better and better. Apart from crimes and murder investigations, the author gives attention to all the couples in the series - their thoughts, misgivings and vulnerabilities are on display. I love how raw and sharp the feelings are at times. I really like hints here and there about the killer, the motive and anything connected to them - it's quite gory and fascinating at the same time. The way Seong-Jae and Malcolm work together is freaking awesome! *fan girl moment*

The second episode doesn't give away much in regards to the killer. He has upped the ante in a way that leaves everyone baffled. But even now Mal and Seong-Jae are relentless in search of anything to point them in the right direction. They might have found something or not. While work is filled with tension, in private they explore the secrets that Seong-Jae kept close to heart till now. They become closer than ever since another barrier has come down between them.

I love the guessing game. Every character adds to the riddle - one random act here, one stray thought there. The story is filled with tension and rich emotions, the people are not what they seem and the killer is smarter and more deranged than anyone can imagine. I loved this episode! All the feels and my favorite characters are back and more amazing than ever!

Okay this shit is disturbing. It is terrifying too. This is one sick son of a bitch.

My mind is reeling. I’m trying to connect some dots and the thoughts forming in my mind scares the crap out of me.

These men. Malcolm and Seong-Jae are holding on to each other by a thread. I don’t mean relationship wise but work wise. These killings are rocking them to the core. They are struggling to get a line on the killer. This killer is methodical. What is happening is senseless. And they need to figure out his pattern.

In the midst of all the madness Seong-Jae has no choice but to let Malcolm see another part of him that he fears will tear his wolf away from him. It doesn’t though. Their relationship is getting pretty intense and pretty fucking HOT. The way these scenes are written makes you feel as though you should turn away. I’m repeating myself but Cole writes these scenes with such fierce intimacy. ❤

With our guys away in LA shit is still happening back home with BPD. Something is brewing with Anjulie that I don’t understand but my sense is that whatever it is has the power to rock her world.
Even Gabrielle has danger knocking on her door. Sade and Jason Huang are walking this tightrope. One of them is about to fall off and there is no telling what the hell will happen next.

Sila. I despise him. There seems to be no way to control his reach.

Some pretty crazy shit…..I’ve already started episode #3.

4.5 ... Seong Jay and Malcolm are really in the thick of things now. Their vulnerability is showing and this killer is playing havoc with their emotions. This is brilliantly written and is extremely clever I can’t wait for the next installment !!

Now I know why SJ's ex lovers are so obsessed with him...

That scene with Mal was hot...and scary...but MAL is always HOT. I love Mal so much!! Yeah, Gabi was never going to be the one, not even CLOSE.

And Mal will NEVER get over SJ ever. Which I kinda dig.

And the nasty rabbit keeps going like the energizer bunny.

Never was a fan of Sade tho. Poor Min.

Some book are really hard for me to.revirw ... then they wait on my reading list for some time.
This was one of them ... There are so many aspects to this book, so where to begin 🤔

Let's start with the best part: Mal and Seong-Jae. These two together are one of my favourite couples ever. Although in this book there are not enough scenes with them (but ate there ever????) And I was a bit angry with Mal for doubting (maybe that is a too strong word.... but at least for not 100% trusting) Seong-Jae . At least that was the impression I got.
Hopefully the next book will let me rethink that.

Then Sade and Huang. I am not sure I am totally on board with their story. But they put you through the wringer.

The story line in this season is definitely different than in the first one. We'll see where it goes ....

All in all 4.5 stars ... and now I got the next one 💃💃💃
