Jack Addison vs. Doing The Right Thing

Rate this book
“Mr. Addison… I’m so sorry to impose, but I was hoping you would sign my venator card?”

Jack thought he had it all: a powerful family ready to offer a helping hand in times of need, success and fame, and the most amazing lover in the person of Roux Chat-Bonnes. Problem is, his family would never accept a nonhuman as Jack’s life partner, so for months he was stuck trying to keep his relationship hidden. But when Roux found out Jack had given in to his father and agreed to give a speech at an anti-creature conference, Jack’s beloved chat left him.

Ashamed and heartbroken, Jack needs to choose whether he should go against what he believes in and support his Father’s cause, or follow his heart and try to win Roux back.

Deep down, Jack knows what’s right, but choosing to do the right thing is a whole other matter when it means standing against the world.

✦ such a ridiculous, but original and fun series. i can't believe i'm done with it already. i'm definitely gonna miss these characters.
✦ Jack's character development and his redemption arc through the whole series was great. i really couldn't stand him in the beginning, so the fact that i totally love him now is just wonderful.
✦ and obviously we can't forget our other mc... the very furry, the graceful and the beautiful Roux Chat-Bonnes. he's just the cutest. i adored him from the very beginning and still do.
✦ these two are truly perfect together. they went through lots of hurdles to get their happy ending, but it was all worth it in the end. i swear their sweet moments give me life.
✦ if you hate spiders, you might change your mind after meeting Chad. truly the cutest, cuddliest, lil baby spider ever. 🕷️
✦ the whole story arc over the last couple of books was quite obvious and predictable, but i wasn't even disappointed tbh. i still found the ending beautiful and satisfying overall and sometimes that's enough.
✦ any fellow monsterfuckers out there, who just want to read something quick and steamy, i definitely recommend giving these books a shot. the love story might surprise you with its sweetness.

Over its nine parts, this series has admittedly been all about the bizarre sex … who could ever forget the weirdness of the opening ‘Man-Ravishing Spider’ (in this case, it is very much a case of the title saying it all).

Thankfully, we gradually got to know Jack a little better, and even grew to like (and love) him as the bumbling venator with his heart on his sleeve, and a sword called Gouger, tried to come to terms with his own insecurities and growing feelings for Roux.

This story arc was particularly strong over the last few instalments, and so in ‘Doing the Right Thing’, Jack finally discovers what those weird nubs on a chat’s cock are for (and can do). See, I told you it’s been about the weird sex all along.

Trust Jack, after his disastrous speech at the anti-creature conference, to declare: “Adrenaline was pumping in his veins, and that called for a celebratory fuck.” But then we also get lines like this: “He’d never felt more virtuous and he loved it. Jack Addison wasn’t a scumbag after all.”

So, yes, maybe the ‘happily ever after’ ending was entirely predictable, as any reader could see it coming a mile away that Jack would use the conference as a platform to make his own personal stand. But it is still a satisfying and beautiful ending to a series that has enthusiastically championed the cause of the multi-species orgasm. And as Jack declares at the end about Roux: “He was it. The One. The End Game.”

Desperate times for desperate measures. Roux and Jack came to the rescue. 🐈💙

Jack chuckled. “Just say the word from now on. We need to make up for lost time, if you catch my drift.”

I have been on a slump for almost over a week now, started a lot of samples and everything did not work and have been forcing myself to read shorts to keep going and getting desperate. So I go back to my boys, oh would you look at that !!! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

I have missed them so much and no matter how dreadful I was to start this one (because this is the last one in the series) the moment I get into it, all of those wholesome and happy feelings are back 😍 I get to feel included in a book again, and the intense happiness seeing them together was just soooo aaaahhh 🥺🥺

Enough ranting, in this one, we get to see different kind of “coming out” comes from Jack and it was fast as usual, but cute and again, heartwarming. This series is definitely a re-read from me someday for sure. The uniqueness can’t be compare and how short-but-in-depth this series was making me feel attached. Immaculate! <3<3<3

The love declaration (once again) and the determination they have for each other felt so strong in this one and my adoration couldn’t be any better ❤️❤️❤️ And Roux’s “redemption” with the spider baby 😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️ OH MY GOSHH I LOVE IT SO MUCH!
and how do I forgot Roux and Jack always be holding hands !!! 😭😭😭😩😭😩😭😩😩😂😭🥺😩💀

And the fking baby spider, Chad, OMG he owns the 2 stars in this rating himself! 😭🥰😋🤪😘😭 And also Roux just wouldn’t stop being so supportive and cute unintentionally!!! 😩😩😩 I can’t stop smiling this whole time …

fav moments to come back to:
- Jack’s chaotic “speech”
- Chad the baby spider 🕷
- Roux’s teasing Jack about his last name 👀
- Bottom for you 😋😋
- “He was it. The One. The End Game.”
- the epilogue 🥺🥺🥺🥺

“Paws covered Jack’s eyes from behind like in a game he often played with Roux. Jack was yet to hear Roux approaching no matter how hard he focused.

“Boo!”

He stiffened, grabbing his lover’s hands, and spun around to face him without knowing whether his heart galloped out of love or fright. “There you are!”

Oh, my heart was galloping the whole time I read this, I actually cried after :( I’m going to miss them so much.

Now tell me, how am I supposed to move on from all of this….

What’s a monster hunter turned monster lover to do, when his family stand against everything he believes in and loves?!

Oh Jack, Jack, Jack.

This title is so very apt because this series finale really was just about how our (anti)hero finally grew some balls and learned to fight for what was most important to him, even when it wasn’t easy and came at a great personal cost.

As we’ve seen over the last eight stories, Jack loves his family and doesn’t want to rock the boat, preferring, until now, to live his once-debaucherous life simply hunting monsters and sometimes loving on them.

But after spending years working in Europe as a venator, meeting all sorts of misjudged beings and seeing firsthand how his youthful prejudices were ill-advised, Jack now finally faces a decision to either man-up and do what’s right, or lose his lover Roux’s heart, as well as his respect, forever, potentially making Jack himself the true monster where it counts.

Spoiler alert: Jack Addison does the right thing!!! Yipeeeee!

This was a perfect little ending to this wildly fun and original series, and I’m so happy I decided to throw caution to the wind to take this kinky, one-of-a-kind ride with Jack and Roux.

MM Erotica Romance
Jack’s Redemption
Part 9 of a serial
This book: 3.5 Stars ⭐️
Entire Series: 5 Stars ⭐️

I can’t believe it’s over. 😭😭😭 This series is the most ridiculous, crazy and cringy thing I’ve ever read and yet, I’ve not only devoured all 9 installments in two days but loved them. When we first meet Jack, he’s 19 and a complete asshat but as he grows up and *interacts* with creatures of all kinds, his mind and heart open to new possibilities. He’s grown so much over the course of this series because the Jack who was ravished by the spider at the start and the Jack who stands up for his chat & son Chad in this book are night and day. In his own words:

”Jack Addison wasn’t a scumbag after all.” 🤣

While I never rated any of the books over 4 stars, I’m giving this series 5 stars ⭐️ for entertainment value alone. I have laughed my way through this and had the best time going on this crazy journey with Jack and every other creature he met on the way. I think the Asexual Vampires 🧛‍♂️ might have been my favorite creature because they were so unexpected to both me and Jack. I recommend reading this in order and not taking any of it too seriously. What a blast. 🤩💗

I am completely and 100% twisted up inside warring between "YAY!" and "BOO!". Now before you ask, I'm not conflicted between YAYs and BOOs over the quality of Jack Addison's latest adventure, oh no, I'm conflicted because Doing the Right Thing is the final Jack Addison vs A Whole World of Hot Trouble adventure. As the saying goes, "All good things must come to an end" but the beauty of books is they never truly end because you can always go back and re-read them and though Jack Addison may not make my annual re-read list I will definitely be re-visiting him, Roux, and all the heated craziness they found themselves in again.

Now as for Doing the Right Thing, this entry picks up pretty much right where Catnip Dealers ended and as the title suggests, Jack has a big decision to make, to do what's right or do what his family expects. Can he say some words to placate his father and then continue on living his life as he has all the while risking everything he's found or will he make a stand and as the title suggests "do the right thing"? What he decides is something you'll have to discover for yourself😉 but trust me if you've been reading Jack's adventures you'll want to see what path he chooses and if you're new to the series, what better time to begin than when you have them all.

I won't go so far as to say Jack has changed from the man he was in Man-Ravishing Spider(book 1) but he has certainly grown into the man he wanted to be, even if he didn't see it wayback when. Roux too has grown though for him it might be more subtle but he's not the chat he was in Spider either. There is definitely things we could learn about ourselves and our fellow man from Jack and Roux but don't think this reads as a life lesson. Jack Addison vs. is a brilliantly and uniquely written series that is pure fun from beginning to end. I stumbled onto this series by accident but I fell in love with it immediately. There's romance, friendship, heart, danger, and plenty of heat. It should be mentioned that the heat might be considered taboo or at the very least a little "out there" so this series might not be for everyone but if you're open to the "out there" heat that can come with paranormal/fantasy then I say "what are you waiting for?"

I'm so sad it's over! I absolutely loved this series and could have happily read another fifteen installments! I wasn't really sure about the premise when I first started reading the series, especially considering the type of creature Jack has his first real encounter with, but I'm so glad I shut those hesitations up and read this, because it really was amazing. These girls are so damn original and creative that I don't think I'll ever really get over their stories. No matter what the subject matter is, it's guaranteed to be a carefully thought-out and captivating read. I thought the themes and overall relationship between Jack and Roux were so incredibly well-written and intriguing that it nearly gave me heart failure at times. I loved how timelessly relevant the series was as well, dealing with super heavy fictional issues that are just as poignant and germane to our own everyday lives, like specism vs modern xenophobia, creature discriminations vs modern racism, homophobia, prejudice, combative ignorance, familial pressures, self-doubt, and a definite fear of the unknown. I absolutely adored Roux's character, especially his reticence and self-isolation over not quite having anywhere he felt he fit in. The only complaint I have about the ending was that it ended at least ten installments too soon, but I'm sure I would've had that same complaint no matter how many books in the series there were.

So just to sum up, I love the series, I love the characters, I love the writing, and I love the authors. Seriously. These girls could publish an entire book listing nothing but shampoo ingredients and I would still demand more ♡♡♡♥♥♥ ♡♡♡

Nothing outstanding but a fitting ending to this series. It was fun to read something so different from traditional stories. There's a lot of imagination here and I love the creativity of that. And it's a great journey for Jack to become the man he finally wishes to be. In the end, he is finally someone to be an inspiration to those around him.

Different, quirky and fun.

This is the last book in the series and that fact alone makes me want to cry.
Jack had to deal with the fallout with his family and it just resonates so deeply with people I know I don't even have words for it.
This entire series was brilliantly written and I couldn't have expected any less from the authors. It has the perfect mix of danger, steam, humour and love to just fill my heart.
I will definitely come back to it later, maybe not so soon, and I'm sure I'll enjoy it once again.
Awesome.

Quick facts: m/m, no cheating, HEA, lots of monster/creature+human smut

This a whole-series review. 4.5 stars, rounded up because it truly was a pleasant experience to read all around. It's a fairly light read. You won't be getting into a deepdive fantasy world here.

Put simply, this series is great. It starts out with heavy erotica, not much on romance. While the hot-as-fuck sex (Jack sucks off a centaur eventually lol) continues throughout the story, the romance between Jack and Roux is a slow build and becomes more prominent as the series goes on. It ends up being a very sweet romance story with surprisingly significant character development.

This series is better than a lot of novels I read. The worldbuilding isn't over the top, but it doesn't feel inadequate at all. Jack is a great character, as is Roux. And Chad... probably the MVP right there.

The sex is exactly as advertised... a lot of monster/creature sex. It's some of the hottest I've read in this genre, frankly.

A few of the middle parts dragged a small bit, but nothing extreme. There are some lingering questions at the end, but not highly important. It mainly has to do with side characters.

If you like monster/creature erotica mixed in with a slow burn romance, this is your series.

“This was the moment for him to take a stand, regardless of what anyone else said or how much money or fans he’d lose.”

Jack is at a really bougie hotel in Paris. He’s going over notes for the speech he doesn’t want to give at the conference he doesn’t want to be at.

Damn. Hard to believe it’s been five years since we started this crazy journey with Jack! He has grown up so much.

Awwwww! Drake brings Chad. And Chad’s learned Morse code, so he can talk to them. So cool.

The speech, despite his nerves, goes well…until Roux shows up.

Celebratory sex in a very special place? Hell yeah.

Jack stands up to his father, once and for all. We see astonishing growth from Jack.

Excellent ending with a touching epilogue. Such a fun adventure.

Love for the win!

I read the whole series and seeing Jack evolve to a decent human being was so great. As each book progresses the story, Jack becomes more comfortable in his relations with creatures and these interactions help him see them as individuals who are worthy of equal rights. It culminates with this last one, where Jack finally does the right thing.

And may I just say, Chad might just have me seeing spiders in a whole new way.

What a wonderful series!

Reading the first book was a chance to try something new and spicy. I honestly loved the character growth of Jack, and Chad is awesome as well. The writers created a fun romp with a chance to talk about accepting others that are different from us. This series turned into a beautiful love story at the end. I definitely recommend this book and authors! Thank you!
