Morning Madison #3

Return for Me

Rate this book
A Morning Madison Second Chance Coming Out Romance.

Duncan:

Be manly. Don’t ever let the world think you’re weak, and certainly not that you’re gay. Or that’ll ruin everything.

That was the advice my dear old dad always gave me before he passed away, leaving me in charge of Reed Enterprises. His words have served me well up until this day: I’m one of the richest and youngest CEOs in the country. I work hard and play hard—in secret.

After a long day of work, I go home with men my assistant procures for me. They’re attractive, they let me dominate them, and they sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement so that no one knows my dirty little secrets.

But it’s only once I meet Tyler Lewis by happenstance on the street outside my office building that I realize these one-night trysts can’t give me what I truly desire and have never had– true love and acceptance. He seems familiar, and I fear my strong drive to be near him, but I can’t seem to resist the pull.

Will my dad be right and my whole world come crashing down if I break my own rules and see him again?

Tyler:

I have what you might call a little obsession. I can’t ever get over Duncan Reed, a fellow high school music camp nerd. Back then, we kissed. And then he told me to forget about it, and to never do anything like that again— that it’ll only make everyone pick on us for knowing we’re “weak.”

I listened to him, bulking up my scrawny frame and joining the military. I acted every bit of a strong manly man but now I’m back in Madison trying to get my music career to take off– or at least trying to get a job— and I’m not happy without seeing Duncan again.

I often walk by his fancy office building when I’m out looking for gigs. One of these days, I’m going to go inside and confront him. I know he’s a hotshot CEO who takes charge in the bedroom like he does in the boardroom. But now it’s time he listens to meand lets me call the shots. It’s time he gets down on his knees and makes up for pushing me away long ago.

But is he capable of being true to himself and letting me fulfill the wildest desires of his heart and body? Or will he hurt me again like he did back then?

Return for Me is a second chance, coming out/ out for you, opposites attract, rags to riches, male/male romance. It mixes hot dom/sub action of man-on-man parts in the bedroom with sweet voice/note action of man-on-man musical numbers on stage. It has lots of steam, no cheating, no cliffhangers and a very happy ever after. It’s a standalone full length, 53,000 word novel in the Morning Madison series, which can be read in any order but are best enjoyed together, and with a big glass of water nearby due to so much heat in addition to all those feels!

A Sweet Ending!

The Tyler & Duncan love story has music camp crushes, stalker behavior, over-bearing fathers, a sweet sister and lovely friends. Although this story is readable, it could have been better.
There were a few imperfections that distracts from this cute story. The continuity issues, such as the signing of the agreement and the Tyler music experience to name a few.
I also thought the falling love was rather quick.
This was an okay read.

Ugh

Did a seventeen year old girl write this? It was so ridiculous in certain areas and. Bad porn in others. Could have been good but.......just no.

Stereotypes

A lot of them, strung together with improbabilities and major character reversals. Feels like watching wax figures or puppets to me. Copy editing would help, too, as there are a lot of misplaced or misused words here. The unlikely plot line seems mostly to me an excuse for pasting together unneeded explicit scenes.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is another book in the Morning Madison series and features Tyler and Duncan. Tyler and Duncan had met when they were young teens attending a band camp and had a connection then. Tyler and Duncan are both gay and were bullied there. When Duncan told Tyler that he should act straight to avoid being bullied, Tyler kissed him, causing Duncan to run away. Years later, Tyler just left the army and was now back home trying to find work. Tyler always thought of Duncan and knew he was now the CEO of his father's company. Duncan was deep in the closet and used his assistant Percy to find hook-ups for him. When Duncan saw Tyler, he wanted him and sent Percy after him. Duncan didn't recognize Tyler and Tyler saw a chance to live his fantasy. Tyler was also in the closet, but he was more ready to come out, especially after meeting Will, the host of Morning Madison. Tyler was still playing music and was invited to play on the show. But when he was introduced as a gay musician, Tyler froze and then ran off, starting his acceptance of coming out and being a gay man. I really liked this book. I loved this series and thought this was a good story. At times it was emotional and Duncan had so much to come to terms with, especially accepting himself as gay and learning to let go of his father's ideas. Tyler also had to accept himself and decide if he wanted to be happy. I love how romantic Tyler was and how he wanted to be with Duncan since they were younger. Duncan was Tyler's ideal man and i like how dominate Tyler was with him. They had a great connection and i think they both really loved each other. It was good to see others from the prior books as well. I look forward to the next book. Good one.

This is steamy, romantic, dramatic and interesting. Duncan is controlling, bold, stubborn and emotionally closed. Tyler is sweet, caring, impulsive and unsure. They met at band camp and shared one hot kiss, then didn't see each other for 13 years. When Duncan saw a hot guy, he sends his driver to pick him up for a one night stand, but when Tyler shows up, he dominates him, reminds him about the kiss, then walks out. Duncan is stunned at first, then can't get Tyler off his mind. Neither is out, Duncan never plans on outing himself, Tyler is waiting for the right time. But so many people come in contact with them, helping them to try to be who they are, and be happy. It's a fascinating storyline and all of the many characters are so personable and likable. I loved it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

Return for me

There are three things I like about Ian's books: 1) believable storyline; 2) low angst; 3) HEA. Thank you for writing such a beautiful story

2.5 stars rounded up.
I’ve worked my way through this series in random order and read this one last. I also found it to be the least enjoyable. One thing that has bugged me through several of these stories is that the author can’t seem to get the show’s name straight. The subtitles for these use “Morning Madison” but all thoughout it keeps switching between “Morning Madison” and “Madison Morning.”
As this story began, I really didn’t like either of the MCs. I found the way they spoke characterized things as rather crass and vulgar. I also found it strange that Tyler essentially based his whole life in the closet on a brief encounter in the woods with Duncan when they were 14. And Tyler’s present-day stalking of Duncan’s workplace based on his fantasies was just plain creepy.
Then there were too many annoying inconsistencies. For example the episode with the NDA and when and if Tyler would sign it. Or when Perry kept referring to his boss as “Mr. Duncan” and Duncan was bewildered as to how “Sergeant” knew his first name. And then the biggest one of all near the end of the wedding where Tyler and Brent are about to sing a duet and Duncan’s narrative states “Tyler adjusts his chair to face and sing to his husband Alex, while my husband’s eyes are glued to mine.” Huh?
But most of all, I found this story the most tedious to get through. The first half is filled with Tyler’s and Duncan’s incessant self-loathing and internalized homophobia and the second half, after they’ve both come out, is incessant self-congratulating and amazement at all the happy gay people around them.
I did, however, like the character tie-ins with the other books in this series.

I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.

3.5 stars

This book held up well as a stand-alone. There are clearly parts that reference the other books in the same world, but the story gives you just enough details about those stories to not leave you feeling lost without feeling like you're getting a full re-cap.

I wanted to like this story more, but there was just something that didn't quite work for me. I think part of it was the transition between the MCs being in the closet and never having a real relationship to out and in love. It came across as too sudden for all of the baggage (especially with Duncan). Although there were certainly scenes that I enjoyed in the story, there were parts that ended up feeling choppy to me. I had been worried that the time flow, with some chapters going back in time, would throw me off, but I think it worked well for the story. It gives the background when it makes sense in the story without feeling like an info dump.

I found this second chance MM romance, fascinating and a pleasure to read.
It is about: a CEO (Duncan Reed) who always tried to follow his deceased father’s advice but then he meets a man (Tyler) from his past and the games for his heart begins.
There is: some drama, a homophobic father, a caring sister, a trusted assistant, memories, obsession, attractions, mischievousness, secrets, fantasies, NDA, domination, shock, submission, role playing, motivation, coming out, moral support, unexpected surprise, performing, declaration, happiness, love and steaming scenes.
The characters are quite well-developed and react with varying emotions to the situations that they find themselves in. The story-line is entertaining and well-written.
I really would recommend this collection.

Enjoyable

I don't normally read male/male stories but I found this one to be rather enjoyable. Tyler knew he was gay as a child and one summer at music camp he ran into Duncan and realized sparks flew. The chemistry was there but unfortunately Duncan wasn't ready to admit that he was interested in Tyler. Fast forward 13 years Tyler was out but not to his family and Duncan still hid behind the facade that he was straight. Can Tyler's love for Duncan make him realize that the world will not implode if he were to admit to being gay? Or is Duncan right in thinking that the world would not accept his life style?

Great story line. Not overly sexual. I loved that it focused more on their journey to find acceptance and to come to terms with their sexuality.

Return for Me by Ian Finn. This is Duncan Reed and Tyler Lewis’ story.
I have mixed feelings about this story. At the beginning I wasn’t fond of either Duncan or Tyler. The book got better as it progressed and I was able to see a more personal side of Duncan and Tyler. There were parts of the book that were heartwarming and emotional but the intimate scenes just came off wrong for me. I think the intimate scenes were supposed to come off steamy but they were too clinical and detailed. I am glad I finished the book because in the end I got to see the love that Duncan and Tyler had for each other.
FYI, contains mature and graphic content. This is a M/M gay romance. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Pros and cons with this story. The words manly man were repeated many times, also I don’t need have sentences that are not important to the story they just take away from what really happening. Inconsistencies where all over the place, he did this but he didn’t do this he did that or did he... To much hate come ing from the fathers of these guys while the mothers are push overs and wouldn’t stand up against their husbands to give their children something to look forward to. I loved that Duncan and Tyler have one summer of what ifs when they were 13 years old, only Tyler remembers everything while Duncan is to busy deep in the closet and have too many NDA one night hooks ups.

Whether the story be about straight love or gay love; as long as love is the preface you honestly have the perfect novel. Tis was a beautiful love story of second chance that spanned a decade. When you can walk that full circle again to find your best starting point, it's so good. Duncan and Tyler's story will warm you heart and fill you up with that intense light of love and music. Something so beautiful and unjudging can conquer worlds. This story definitely conquered me and I highly recommend it.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I really enjoyed it. If you love second chances and m/m romance, I would recommend reading this one. Tyler and Duncan were great characters. I was rooting for them, and a relationship between them, the entire time. Their story was well written and I didn't want to put it down. Now I want to go back and read the other stories in the Morning Madison series.

I think my expectations let this book down more than anything else. I liked the premise and I like the main characters a the start and end the middle just felt a bit forced. I ended up falling in love with the other characters more and would be interested to read their story. I love a HEA and this was always going to be that just would have loved a bit more character development and conversation along the way.

This is Duncan and Tyler story. They meet while they was in band camp and then didn't see each other for 13 years. I liked this book but I think that Duncan was just a tad bit rude in most of the book and so far back in the closet about being a gay man that you would wonder if he will ever come out

Romantic yet Sweet and Hot

I enjoy this series. It is light yet deals with some emotional topics. The guys are smart, talented, romantic and hot. Not a lot of angst which is good. They are a a delight to read. This story was no exception. Sometimes one's childhood fantasies can become real. Just have patience. Ready for the next in the series.

Good reading

Duncan and Tyler both had a stubborn, homefobic father that thought they new best. I'd like to think like Duncan that his Dad would indeed come to terms with who his son is.

I enjoyed reading this story. Duncan and Tyler are good together. It is a second chance romance but it seems a bit like insta-love, since they haven't seen each other since they were kids.

Great Story

They met at band camp 13 years prior but only had one kiss when you have dad's that don't accept you, you have to wait and find each other as adults.

Good

Young men with their first hints of attraction grow into strong men too scared to come out of the closet. Duncan and Tyler grow up with unhealthy perspectives about the definition of what a man is and they each take different approaches to reveal their identities. They have their struggles but, find the love they always knew was there.

I enjoyed reading about Tyler and Duncan's love story. This M/M story is about facing their fears of coming out as gay and lovingly the image that our parents wanted them to be. But love is love and watching these two find each other after 13 years. Their struggles to be honest with each other and family.
I just couldn't put it down because I wanted to see how they overcome the obstacles in the way for true love.
