Simple enough that anyone can understand but not simplistic. The author clearly has an excellent command on the subject matter and provides sufficient references to allow the reader to dig deeper without requiring them to have a background in the topic.

Very informative and practically applicable not just to working with children but also with understanding adults and myself.

I finished reading this book in one seating cause I find that I have done so many things wrongly and often let impatient get the better of me. I learned to dissociate the problematic behaviour away from the identity of the child, the behaviour is problematic but the child is still good and it’s my child. With that in mind I will get the head space to address the behaviour and not associate it as the child’s identity therefore not shaming the child but coaching him or her through the misbehaviour a short and concise book about the effects of shaming, the remedy for it and also how we can further prevent it.

I can't recommend Betsy's Simple Guide series enough! As a social worker I recommend them to foster carers all the time. They break down abstract concepts and theories into every day language with practical takeaways.
