***** Misadventures is a romantic series of spicy standalone novels, each written or co-written by some of the best names in romance. The stories are scandalous, refreshing, and, of course, incredibly sexy. They’re the perfect bedside read, a ‘quick blush’ for the reader who loves a page-turning romance.
Misadventures with a Speed Demon was light and fun, and I found the story to be entertaining. It did, however, lack the wow factor.
Both the hero and heroine had their moments. I enjoyed their conversations and their banter. I liked the flirting and the intimacy was hot. I found, though, that I did not seem to connect with them. I didn't feel the passion or the falling in love or the lust.
The story, similar to that of the characters was enjoyable, but it lacked a meaty conflict that caused any type of obstacle. What was put in their path was easily surmountable, and their level headed behavior as well as the good advice from secondary characters had the conflict resolving rather quickly.
The one aspect that I did enjoy was the theme of the book. The loved the idea of home and that one of the main characters found a home within a new group of people. The ideas articulated at the end of the book by the characters were heartfelt and warmed my heart.
While this book didn't blow me out of the water, it might for someone else. There wasn't anything bothersome about the pacing or the characters, it just didn't spark something in this particular reader, so I would definitely give it a shot.
Gah these misadventures books keep getting better and better.
When I seen Chelle was releasing Speed Demon I knew I had to read that beauty and I’m damn sure glad I did. It was fun, fast and super freaking sexy!
Brooks comes from nothing, he grew up not knowing his dad and his mum preferring alcohol over him, he had a shitty start and was determined to make his life better and the one way to do that, that stood out to him was racing. Nothing makes him as happy as getting behind the wheel did. With determination he set out to become the best never thinking he’d be picked up by one of the best but good things come to those who wait and he sure has been waiting.
Faith grew up surrounded by love, family and everything she could possibly need. Money was never a worry for her but she didn’t take that for granted. She worked her way to get where she is today. She’s a strong, loving and a beautiful woman that takes no shit. Although she’s such a needy butch at times you can’t help but like her.
Watching them blossom throughout this book has been an absolute joy. Their journey is at times hard but watching them come through is fab.
Chelle Bliss did an amazing job on Misadventures of a Speed Demon, I can’t wait to read more of her work.
This is an insta love book with fast cars and steaming hot sex scenes that’ll leave you gasping for more.
Oh boy, I was super excited to start this because I have been in the mood to read about race car drivers. In my search I stumbled across this book and it's by an author I've been wanting to try for a while. Let's just say that in the end I won't let this book discourage me from trying another book by this author. However, I found it extremely irritating.
Let me clarify that. I found the characters irritating. This is definitely the type of new adult book that I'm usually not a big fan of. I was expecting the hero to be mature for his age because he had so much to overcome from his past in order to achieve his dreams and get out of that toxic environment. And to a point I thought he had that. Until we introduce the heroine to the mix and all that goes out the window.
Faith grew up in a family of race car drivers and she doesn't want to be dating one. Brooks is the new hot shot driver that her father introduced to their racing team. And her brother doesn't want the newbie to steal his thunder as the best driver on the track. I thought this would be a great premise with lots of tension. Except, I didn't think that's what actually happened. Things moved pretty fast between them. But really got on my nerves was the heroine always jumping to conclusions instead of having a conversation to clear things. It was such childish behavior it ruined whatever could've been ok for me about everything else.
In the end, like I said, I'm not going to let this put me off this author completely and I'll give her another try. But this was a miss for me.

Misadventures with a Speed Demon by Chelle Bliss was the fifteenth book in the Misadventures series. The series was steamy novellas written by various best selling romance authors. They can each be read as a stand-alone.
Brooks Carter was the new kid on the block in the professional racing world. He was given a break by one of the best names in the industry, Ridley Racing. He had a tough childhood and has worked hard through the ranks to get this chance.
Faith Ridley was the daughter to Beau Ridley, an iconic retired racer who founded Ridley Racing. Faith never fell for drivers having been around them since birth with their playboy lifestyles and wandering hearts....until her father’s new driver.
Although they wouldn’t admit it, Brooks and Faith fell instantly. In fact, the entire book took place over a few weeks. The (secret) relationship was the main storyline with racing as the back story. True to a novella, there wasn’t much development or depth; however, it was well written and a quick and fun read. I’d love a story for Roscoe next.
🌟3.5 STARS🌟 Exciting and sensual, Misadventures with a Speed Demon is an insta love, adrenaline fueled AND filled rush!
Brooks Carter is a wild card and so dang on cheeky! Not only is he known for dominating the circuit in racing, but he maneuvered his way right into my heart! This guy—this passionate, humble, at times boastful guy with the soft heart, and who came from nothing—this guy carried this entire book for me!
So why the 3.5 rating? Though I fell in insta lust with Brooks rather quickly, Faith Ridley was impetuous at times, always jumping to conclusions, and came off as more bullheaded than headstrong to me. Still, I was drawn to her independence and the feisty side of her that spoke so boldly.
This Misadventure novel was a great addition to an already provocative and alluring series. With each novel the Misadventure authors bring it, delivering fun and quick reads that are high on the romance!
I’m a bit saddened. I’m a huge fan of Chelle Bliss and of the Misadventures series, but this book seemed to fall short for me. It took me too long to read (my usual is a day) and even then I had to force myself to keep going.
My initial thought was that it seemed familiar. Either to another book or something I’ve seen on TV or in a movie. Not the whole story, but part of the premise.
Then Faith and Brook gave into their ‘insta-connection’ way too soon for me. I still hadn’t connected with either of them and so I wasn’t sure how I even felt about it. Now, I’m all for the ‘insta-love’ story line but there still felt like a gap in the character development that just left me wanting.
Even after the big act, Faith became so needy and almost on the verge of immature about it that just grated on my nerves.
I love me some Misadventures, fast cars and fast love...but this book didn’t cut it for me and I’m deeply saddened by it. I was really looking forward to loving every bit of it.
Speed Demon by Chelle Bliss is book 15 in the Misadventures series. This is the story of Brooks Carter and Faith Ridley. This is a standalone book for sure, but it has been a great series so far so you might wish to read the others. Brooks grew up with a hard and fast but the one thing he found he is good at and loves is racing. When he is picked up by Ridley racing it a step into the big leagues. Faith is to show Brooks around and help him get settled into what is to come for Brooks. Sparks fly fast for them both but Faith knows the score with these race car drivers since she been around them for so long. Brooks knows that Faith should be off limits with her father being his 'boss' and her brother a race car rival. But its hard fighting the growing feelings between them. Another great hot read by Ms. Bliss....loved it!!
“That’s exactly what I’ve been doing - falling in love with Brooks Carter.”
This was a steamy quick read from Chelle Bliss. I loved our two main characters Faith and Brooks. The chemistry was there from the very beginning and I was really crossing my fingers for a happy ending for them!
Now, there were times that I wanted to shake Faith! This girl can jump to conclusions faster than anybody I know. Some things could have been avoided if she gave Brooks the time to talk.
All in all, it was steamy and had a lot of romance. It will be a good addition to the Misadventures series!
ARC was provided for honest review. Quote was taken from an ARC and is subject to change upon publication.
In my opinion, this book was different than I'm used to reading from Chelle Bliss. Not bad different, just different. Brookes was a different kind of alpha, more in tune with his, and others, feelings. I liked that he wanted to fit in and be accepted. That, even though we knew he was cocky when it came to racing, he didn't let that bleed over into other parts of his life.
Faith was smart, cute, the ultimate daddy's girl. Even though she comes from money, she wasn't snotty, didn't think she was better than anyone else.
This was a fun, quick read that had all the feels!!! A definite must read!!!
BOOGITY BOOGITY BOOGITY BOYS LETS GO RACING!! I loved this book. I was gifted this book by the author and I am glad to read it and review it. This is unlike any of Chelle’s other books to me. I’m a HUGE Nascar fan this book gave me butterflies and was so sweet. I will admit at times I guessed what was going to happen. I mean why else make statements. Brookes is a strong hero and is swooney and Faith she is a VERY strong heroine she knows what she wants and she goes after it. The only thing that upset me? I wanted more racing. There wasn’t as much as I had of liked but it still was a great book. Chelle if your reading this thanks for the opportunity to read your work. I 💜 you lady!! Which you already know that. 🤣
5 Star review of a Misadventures of a Speed Demon by Chelle Bliss (Misadventures #15) The Misadventures Series is written by so many different and wildly talented authors and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. This book is Brooks Carter and Faith Ridley story and what a great read it was. It has it all sweet, sexy, romantic and altogether a story that hooked me from the start. The was a fast quick paced read and well written. The chemistry between Brooks and Faith was scorching and as Faith is the sister of his rival, it just added to the tension. Can Brooks win the girl and at the same time earn the respect of her brother? Or are they doomed to crash and burn?
Misadventures with a Speed Demon is sort of mixed bag for me - I was sucked in by the prologue, it lost me a bit after that, but then I was all in. This is a case where I liked the hero much better than the heroine: Brooks is just a more sympathetic character, plus I feel like we got to know him a lot more than Faith and because of that she comes off as a bit spoiled and entitled. I love that he was the first to see that he wanted their relationship to be more than a fling and that he did not back down from that. I also really loved Faith's family and how they truly embraced Brooks. He was the best part of the book. While the chemistry between the two of them was palpable, I think we could've used more development of their actual relationship and emotions towards each other so that it didn't come off as so insta-lovey. I did enjoy the ending and I also appreciated the brevity of the book - it was quick, cute, and entertaining. 3.5 out of 5 wine glasses.
I have read and loved quite a few of these Misadventures books and this book was no exception! I was in love with this book, so much so, I read it within hours because I was so enamored with Brooks and Faith's story. Brooks is a sexy, gorgeous race car driver hired to join Ridley Racing which is Faith's family team. Faith is a beautiful, fiesty woman who definitely catches the eye of Brooks Carter. What happens when two people who shouldn't be involved just can't keep their hands off each other? I guess you'll have to read and find out!
Oh do I love cars and men and this one is just as hot and steamy. Brooks is a hot up and coming driver who will melt your panties off. He has a new career that he is about to knock out. However one person is making him take pause in what is really important. Faith knows what she wants and her family has always come first. A tight relationship with her brother and father and a love for racing that rivals anyone. When Brooks and Faith meet sparks do fly, but sometimes you can't always get what you want. As Brooks navigates the track, Faith will have to navigate her heart. Will either of them make it to the finish line without someone crashing?
Let me start off by saying I really liked the idea of this book, I liked the cover. I love the Misadventure series. But this book just wasn't hitting the spot for me.
Faith was a snot and I couldn't stand when her parts of the story came up. She jumped right on the "new boy" Brooks.
Brooks had a rough up bringing while Faith had it all with Daddy's riches. Yeah one of them stories. I almost DNF this book but I hardly ever do that. I really wanted to like this story but it just wasn't doing it for me.
when you read a book some time ago, and you don't really remember any specifics about it... *facepalm*
I m not going to rate it, since I honestly can't say or justify any rating I could give just like that, it wouldn't be fair, I knew it was okay, but obviously in the sea of so many books, I got lost in translation...so, I'm gonna leave it at that...
Faith Ridley belongs to a family that lives and breathes the need for speed. Brooks Carter also lives for speed. When these two first meet you can feel the sparks. If you’re one that likes/loves to watch auto racing, whether in person or on TV, this will feed into your need for speed.
Even though I like to read a book at a leisurely pace, this story had its own ideas. I grew up watching all the NASCAR races – it was a family thing. We used to have a local track and when my parents were dating that was one of their things. This brings a little extra to my reading experience. I get to be a spectator in more ways than one.
Our author makes my love of reading very easy. She has created a book that would fit very easily into the auto world. I could picture a Ridley dynasty fitting right along with the Force family – even though they are NHRA. I don’t think I would go to a racetrack in order to set the mood because the noise would be too much – although it would give you some idea of what these characters do. You could turn on a race as you read – over the years this became a father/daughter thing so I’ve recently stopped watching. But that doesn’t mean that I can’t picture what these characters experience. It was interesting to watch all the twists and turns that lead to my happy ending.
If you’re like me and haven’t read a Misadventures book before, this is the perfect introduction. And knowing their standalones means I can read them in any order. Now my problem becomes which one to read next. I have read several of this authors work before and I can’t wait to read more. But in the meantime I can enjoy this one and see myself reading this book again either in February or maybe in November – based on the NASCAR schedule.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own
This was a pretty solid addition to the Misadventures series. My only complaint is that they fall in love way too fast without any real opportunities for us as readers to see what would bring that on. I wouldn't necessarily say it's insta-love though, definitely insta-lust, but perhaps it's because the book was so short that it seemed everything happened so quickly. They meet, sleep together quickly, continue to sleep together secretly even though she's technically his boss (her dad owns the racing team), and somehow he falls in love with her. This is despite the fact that she doesn't exactly trust him several times in the book and judges him without good reason to distrust him. This is also despite the fact that they never go on any public dates or do anything other than see each other at work and sleep together. I just didn't buy the 'I love you's.'
The book had a lot of potential and had the author expanded the book a bit and drawn out the romance, then I think it would have made the book a little more believable and enjoyable. There's no real drama or angst (other than Brooks' alcoholic mom), everything is too 'perfect' when it comes to the Ridley parents, and Brooks just lets Faith get away with judging him. He was just too eager to please and belong with their family given his upbringing and lack of true parents. Don't get me wrong, I was happy that he finally got the love he deserved and that the Ridley family was such a great influence and family to him. It was just all too perfect.
This is a quick read. In this book we have Brooks Carter, who is a young man now on the circuit for stock car racing. A smaller company Ridley’s, has taken interest in Brooks Carter to come and race for them.
The owner of Ridley’s was once a stock car driver and now managers his son plus Brooks. Mr. Beau Ridley has done very well in the race car world, and his family has grown up wealthy due to that success. Beau’s son Roscoe, isn’t impressed with Brooks. They will be racing together and they don’t seem to be getting along well at all.
Beau sends his daughter, Faith to show Brooks around town, and show him the sites and things to do, as well as get him outfitted into clothes for dinners, anything fancy. Brooks doesn’t like being showered with attention or money, but if it means being around Faith he is all in. Brooks and Faith have pretty much set eyes on each other and are hooked.
Faith doesn’t seem to know about these feelings towards Brooks. Brooks tries to keep away from her, but he can’t. Brooks is doing great on the race track and he wants to have more with Faith but they have to come clean to Beau, something bright of them want to do.
Brooks is certain that Beau will fire him for being with his daughter. But Faith loves her family and is a daddy’s girl. She knows he will cget me around. Will Brroks and Faith be able to work things out? Will Beau fire Brooks?
I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving a review.
This is a flaming hot, quick read. The chemistry between Brooks and Faith was so genuine, that it really stole the show. These two couldn’t have come from more different backgrounds, but they each worked hard to achieve where they presently are in their lives. This particular book was insta-love, with some of the hottest scenes in any misadventures book. I would have definitely enjoyed it even more if it was a full length novel. My favorite part of this particular misadventures story was we got to see a lot of struggles Brooks had gone through when he was little in order to acquire everything he had as an adult. He was just genuinely a good person, and I loved that about him. Faith grew up surrounded by love, yet she still was independent in her career. It was an enticing story-line, with even hotter scenes. - By Victoria
This latest addition to the Misadventures series is one that will have your heart racing and the rest of you purring like the engine of a race car. The attraction between Brooks and Faith is fast and fierce. It is a scary chemistry that will have both of them risking family and futures. This story will have you gripping every word like a tyre on a race car hugs the track. Misadventures with a Speed Demon is an instant attraction kind of love that will knock your socks off and have you standing at the finish line waiting to wave the checkered flag at this couple. It will take you on a ride like no other packed full of lust, love, chemistry, angst and showing you home is where the heart is.
I wasn't sure about the book in the beginning. It was appealing to me and I took a break after a chapter to two trying deciding to take it seriously after a while. I am so glad that I decided to continue the book. The more I read, the more I was liking it and in the end, I loved it. It was quite tame for a misadventure and I was completely ok with it. It felt like a romance novel and I was shipping the main characters. The secondary ones were interesting characters and I wish that the author would expand this universe, so Faith's brother could get a book too. He might not be the most likable person at first glance, but he grew on me. Also, he needs a woman to put some sense into his head. The book was fun and easy to read. I liked it and I would definitely recommend it!
This is probably one of my favorite Misadventure books. I loved Faith and Brooks's story. I'm usually not a fan of insta-love but this one worked. They had really great banter between the two of them. Roscoe I was a little over and wasn't sure how it would play out with him. But I liked him towards the end. Absolutely loved the Ridley's and how they welcomed Brook into their family. Several times I found myself with a couple tears falling. Such a good, quick story!
Brooks doesn't need his woman to tell him twice, lLeave the pants there,” she says. I immediately drop them. Stalking toward her with nothing covering my body..." Brooks is quite the crude man, but da*n if it isn't sexy, “anyway, my balls are my business. Unless they’re in your mouth— then they’re yours.” I loved this book, I fell in love with Brooks.
Misadventures with a Speed Demon was a nice quick read. It was sexy and steamy and our leads, Brooks and Faith had great chemistry that really heated up the pages. The story flowed effortlessly, it was engaging and I was able to devour it in one sitting. An enjoyable read.
Chelle does it again, another amazing 5 star book. Brooks and Faith's story is one you can't put down once you start reading it, loved it. Sexy race car driver falls for his boss's daughter. Lots of great sex and fast cars, great combination.
What a fun quick read. Nothing beats instaloveabd Chelle captured the love between Brooks and Faith perfectly. I had a total dad crush on Mr Ridley, but he was nothing compared to Brooks **sigh** I’d like to know more about Roscoe HINT HINT Chelle
