Baby Bear asks his parents for all kinds of hugs—wet hugs, dry hugs, fly up to the sky hugs—in search of the best hug of all. The Step into Reading series entices brand-new readers with rhyme, rhythm, and repetition. The type is big, the words are easy, and the art is bright and bold.
Alyssa Satin Capucilli was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1957. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College, and pursued her interest in dance, becoming a professional dancer and dance instructor. Though Capucilli had written stories, poems, and even puppet shows as a child, she didn't consider a career as a writer until after her own two children were born. To this day she sees herself as both a dancer and a writer, and the two professions complement each other nicely: dancing is, in her words, “telling stories in another way,” and readers of her children's books can attest to the rhythm of her language. Since 1994, she has written more than 15 books for children, and her work has been translated into French, Hebrew, Afrikaans, Greek, and Bulgarian.
Capucilli lives in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, with her husband and children. They have a chocolate Labrador retriever named Huckleberry, who likes to watch the author at work.
Review from my little one who turns 5 this month. Per my little sugar booger: I like the book because it reminds me of love and family. And the woods because there are bears and the woods have bears. :-)
This book is all about different types of hugs that baby bear wants from his parents. It uses easy to read text and some rhymes to help young readers gain confidence in their skills. There isn’t really a plot to this story, but the illustrations are cute and colorful.
This is a good book for children who are just beginning to read. It has cute illustrations and it will appeal to young children. It also good for introducing them to what rhyming is. There is not really a plot or storyline so I would not recommend it for anybody other than early readers.
Bear Hugs makes me want to give a hug. The book is for beginning readers and depicts all sorts of hugs with little bear’s parents. Jim Ishi’s illustrations are huggable and adorable. A great book for children of all ages.
Buku manis untuk belajar membaca. Berisi bermacam-macam jenis pelukan beruang. Tapi satu yang paling menyenangkan adalah berpelukan bertiga: bapak-ibu-anak beruang.
