Insightful, if somewhat repetitive, analysis of the Philippines in the 70s. "Development" by definition can barely work - it's about "miracles," or creating tiny pocket of winner among losers, and making losers in the "winning" nation to shut up & rejoice ("otherwise we'll be failure like our neighbours"). It's about dismantling solidarity & foreclosing history. It never succeeds & thus never ends.
