Middlemarch Shifters #10

My Second Chance

Rate this book
Lion shifter Leticia Huntingdon has FIV, the feline version of AIDS.

For months she’s been in remission, treated by Gavin Finley, the Middlemarch feline doctor. Now the disease has returned. Her feelings for Gavin can’t go anywhere because of the FIV, so it shouldn’t hurt when Gavin turns to Charlie, the new male cop.

Gavin can’t believe how good sex is with Charlie, can’t believe he’s found a mate. The loving is amazing and hot, but Gavin can’t forget Leticia. He wants her in his life. He wants Charlie too. Confusion and jealousy create torrid undercurrents for the trio.

Charlie McKenzie falls for Gavin quickly and can’t understand why he’s attracted to Leticia. A nightmare changes everything, drawing the three together and bringing new possibilities. A ménage à trois.

Raw need and passion brings them closer. If only the disease threatening Leticia’s life didn’t loom on the horizon…

USA Today Bestselling author, Shelley lives in Auckland, New Zealand with her husband and a rambunctious puppy.

Typical New Zealanders, Shelley and her husband left home for their big OE soon after they married (translation of New Zealand speak - big overseas experience). A year long adventure lengthened to six years of roaming the world. Enduring memories include being almost sat on by a mountain gorilla in Rwanda, lazing on white sandy beaches in India, whale watching in Alaska, searching for leprechauns in Ireland, and dealing with ghosts in an English pub.

While travel is still a big attraction, these days Shelley is most likely found in front of her computer following another love - that of writing stories of romance and adventure. Other interests include watching rugby and rugby league (strictly for research purposes), being walked by the dog, and curling up with a good book.

I've read every Middle March Shifter story since book 1, and I have liked some, loved some, but this one, it made me feel, with a capital "F" !! Leticia a feline shifter has their version of HIV , Gavin a Veterinarian and the Shifter Doctor is one of the few people she trusts, because he's her mate, but she refuses to consummate the mating due to the terror she feels of infecting him with FIV. In comes human Charlie, blissfully unaware of shifters and fated mates and he and Gavin become a couple. Yet all 3 of them know something is missing, and Author Shelley Munroe, with her usual dose of snarky comments, laughter and love brings these three people who are so afraid of hurting others and getting hurt themselves, into a satisfying, realistic conclusion, when a massive incident happens and they almost lose each other for good !! 5☆'s !! Best one yet. I received a gifted copy and am voluntarily choosing to leave an honest and unbiased review.

Just when I thought I was running out of good things to say about Shelley Munro, she does this! Of all the books I've read, I don't think I've ever been so tempted to skip to the end before finishing as I was with this one. As always, the story flows, the characters seems so real you could reach out and touch them, and dialogue is witty. Several times throughout this series, there has been nail-biting intrigue, but this one was more about the feelings. Leticia's illness and how each of the characters dealt with it was absolutely heart-wrenching at times, and that touch of humor and/or heat at just the right moment was perfect. This one is, by far, the best MMF romance that I've read and just one more reason that this author has become one of my favorites.

Kept me at the edge of my seat

This is a tear jerker plus sex. Litica is a lawyer, lion shifter, and very sick. She was raped and contracted the feline version of AIDS. Gaven is a panther shifter and a veterinarian. He is also Litica’s mate but the virus can be passed between blood in shifters so she won’t mate him. Charlie is a cop and human. He is attracted to Litica but Gavin is his mate.
When she starts going downhill, Gavin moves her in with them so he can watch her. When they realize Charlie is Litica’s mate too, they can’t believe their luck. But she slips into a coma and they glad they have each other through this rough time.
The sex is smoking. The story will bring you to tears. I loved the characters, felt like I was right there with them. M/M, M/F, M/F/M.

What's a shifter to do when they find not one mate but two? What happens when this shifter can't really be the ones she is meant to be with? The author explores these questions with this story and does a great job of answering them. I really enjoyed this story and thought it was done very well. I cared about the characters and wanted to see them succeed and be happy. I enjoy this series and look forward to reading what will happen next.

I received a copy of this manuscript from the author in exchange for an honest review.

When reading this book I had to stop and hope the author didn't end the book the way I anticipated. This was the first time that while reading a book I became so emotionally attached to a character that I actually contacted the author, before finishing the book, to say please don't end the book a certain way! This book was a wonderful emotional rollercoaster. The characters have depth and the way the author deals with the issues was wonderful. I recommended this book to all, unless you have a problem with a triad ménage.

Emotional and wonderful!

I loved this book! Dealing with the repercussions of FIV, the feline shifter version of HIV , is extremely painful and heartbreaking. The need and support of a loving mate, or in this story, 2 mates, is so important to one's wellbeing and healing of any kind. Strong and determined characters and a heart stirring storyline make this book a treasure worth owning. I read and voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I got this book in exchange for a voluntary review. Leticia has FIV and her friend Gavin is trying to save her life. This book is the story of three brave individuals, drawn together by nature, to save one of them. This is a love story menage that has a very happy ending. The characters are strong and the only thing that would make the story better would be Leticia's pregnancy.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I was skeptical at first with the illness they gave one of the main characters. I was won over by this well written story. The characters where really brought to life.

She just needed her mates

This tale is bittersweet, our hero's and are heroine are really attracted to each other, only no-one has ever heard of three mates before. Our heroine is dying of an AIDs like disease and our doctor hero has tried every known trick he can find, only to have her go into a coma. You could feel the pain her two mates and the rest of her family and friends were going through. Just when you thought things were set to right, one of the council members dies.

My Second Chance by Shelley Munro is a fairly quick read, a great choice for those with limited time for reading. This is a M/M/F menage book though, so it may not be for everyone. Ms. Munro has delivered an entertaining, well-written book. The characters are fantastic. Leticia is a lion shifter infected with feline AIDS. Gavin is treating her illness. Charlie is Gavin's mate, but he and Gavin are both attracted to Leticia. Their touching story is full of drama, jealousy and sizzle. I enjoyed reading My Second Chance and look forward to reading more from Shelley Munro in the future.

All of the Middlemarch Shifter books are fun and sexy. This book is also very, very intense. Loved characters from previous books now have their story told. I don't want to spoil the surprises and the twists of the story. I laughed, I shed tears and I am ready to reread the entire series (I own most of the books at this point). Bravo, Shelley Munro. You spun another wonderful tale.

Letitia lawyer lion shifter, Gavin the vet, and Charlie the cop. She has the shifter version of HIV and is not well. Gavin has been in her sights for quite some time but she kept pushing him away. Now he has mated with Charlie. A birthday party. A night of passion. A woman in pain. Caught out. Two mates. A threesome. A shave. Dying. Pain. Lots of pain. A second chance. Perhaps?

This is the seventh and latest book in the Middlemarch Mates series. Leticia's Lovers is an emotionally driven story about a female feline shifter. She has FIV which is the feline version of AIDS, so she can't truly mate with another feline. This was my first time reading a book from this series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Leticia's story is full heartache, and triumph. The dynamic of the three mates was interesting and very steamy.

Feline shifters, m/m/f. This ebook can be purchased at Ellora's Cave

MMF romance. Leticia believes her life is over. She cannot love nor take a mate because of her disease and that is why she pushes Gavin away. Gavin realizes Charlie is also his mate, even though he has never heard of a triad before. Charlie meets Leticia and feels the same attraction to her as he does Gavin. The decisions are difficult because Leticia's disease is terminal. Leticia is understandably upset and lashes out to those closest. Gavin and Charlie have found one another but face losing Leticia.
