B.C. Hollywood

B.C. Hollywood is an Irish author specializing in supernatural fiction rooted in authentic Celtic folklore and history. Drawing from Ireland's rich mythological tradition and dark historical legacy, he crafts horror and dark fantasy that spans from 18th-century Hellfire Clubs to contemporary werewolf villages and post-apocalyptic wastelands.

His deep research into Irish folklore, historical records, and cultural authenticity brings genuine Celtic atmosphere to modern supernatural fiction. Whether exploring the shadowy corners of Georgian Ireland or the supernatural threats lurking in today's Irish countryside, Hollywood's work captures the ancient darkness that has always dwelled in Ireland's landscapes and legends.

When not writing, he continues researching Ireland's forgotten histories and unexplored folklore, always seeking the next story that bridges ancient Celtic wisdom with contemporary horror.

Add me - I didn’t expect the ending and love the story all the more for it. It plays out as some sort of internet stocker displeased at the thought of someone denying his friend request. Almost catfish in a sense creating a profile adding in abit of internet stocking. Goes to show anyone could be watching and looking at your check ins what you like etc…..but finding someone the exact same priceless. The rest of the stories like Fresh contains a quick description of Necro love ,others with a folk horror charm with ritualistic practices and pagan ways. The ending was just that, the end 🗡️

A couple of the short stories in this book were really good and very well thought out. A couple of them didn't really seem to have a direction to them and were a bit all over the place. The ending poem was sad but very beautifully written. If the stories had been a bit longer and a bit more fleshed out it would have gotten a higher rating from me they were almost too short to develop any kind of sense of what they were really about.

I always feel bad leaving negative reviews, unfortunately I feel like this one is necessary. Many of the stories here had no real direction, felt rushed, and overall lacked any resounding effect. The one saving grace was the ending poem. If all of them were given that same kind of thought, this would be a well rounded, much more memorable read!

Terrify Your Tablet Find!
I will say I wasn't so sure about this at first but I will say that as short as it was, it was really good. I am a special fan of the first one, but over all, all the stories were a home run. Kind of like the stories I look for for a good spook.

This is my first book from this author. I really enjoyed the first story but the rest seemed to be rushed. The stories have so much potential but I wish there was just a bit more in them. Overall I gave it a 3 star because I did enjoy the concepts of the stories.

The first one was great.

So I really enjoyed the first story. The others not so much. The one about the effigy was pretty good, too.
This was ok for a quick read.

I’ve been a fan of B.C. Hollywood since coming across his short “Dogcatcher.” I’m delighted to find a collection of his stories, and gems these are, too!

I’ll try not to have any spoilers here, because Mr Hollywood’s twisty, surprising stories are too good to spoil. They should be savored by each reader who comes to them. But I will say that there’s always a sting in the tail, somewhere.

What draws me to these stories is the beauty and evocativeness of Mr Hollywood’s writing. I was immediately drawn along through the dark turnings of online stalking in “Add Me…”. James and Allie fleeing from the Halloween revels in “Imitative Magic” had my heart racing. Even the more meditative “Shaded” left me shivering.

This is a wonderful collection of extremely creepy stories, perfect for this season, or any time I need a good scare. I plan to read them again and again!

4.5

These stories are short, so I'll keep my review short. I've never experienced such short stories that made such a lasting impact. In a few short pages the content and the characters stay with you. The supernatural and paranormal twists add a depth to these stories without detracting from the practical realism in the premise . Intelligently written, can't wait to see what else B.C. Hollywood has up his sleeve.

Would be 5, but I detracted 1/2 point because the effort put into each story varies, almost as if the author has his favorites.

This is a collection of four short dark stories, all with a twist, and an even darker poem.

"Add me…" is the story of a social media stalker, narrated in the first person, with a lot of insight into the character's mind.

"Shaded" is about the strange ways of vengeance.

"Imitative Magic" teaches us old Halloween rituals shouldn't be taken lightly.

"Fresh" takes us to the very mind of a psycopath of unique taste.

"Wounds" is a dark poem about a sad life.

A good book for those who love dark literature and short stories and an excellent literary effort.
