Christopher Carl Carter (born October 13, 1956) is an American screenwriter, film director and producer, best known as the creator of The X-Files and Millennium.
He was born in Bellflower, California to William and Catherine Carter. In college, he majored in journalism, graduating from California State University Long Beach in 1979. His brother, W. Craig Carter, is a Lord Foundation Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at MIT.
Carter began writing for Surfing magazine out of college. For the next five years, he traveled around the world both as a freelance writer and as the magazine's associate editor.

5 Sterne, aber wem gebührt die Ehre?
Roy Thomas hat die Pilotfolge sowie die Episoden "Deep Throat", "Squeeze", "Conduit" und "Ice" sehr getreu den Fernsehsendungen nachgestaltet. Beim Lesen kommt das gute alte X-Files-Gefühl auf, genau wie es sein soll. Die Artwork gibt, trotz der unterschiedlichen Zeichenstile, die Stimmung treffsicher wieder, so dass keine Wünsche offen bleiben.

Comic und Fernsehen sind zwei sehr unterschiedliche Medien, und in dieser Hinsicht hat die Idee, eine Fernsehserie 1:1 zu einem Comic zu machen, schon etwas skurriles: warum sollte man es nicht beim Anschauen der Sendungen belassen, wozu das Comic zur Serie?
Die Frage wird jeder Leser für sich beantworten müssen, aber da die X-Files die Mystery-Kultserie der 1990er Jahre war, werden wohl die meisten Leser Fanboys sein, und als echter Fan will man das volle Programm.
Ich vermute, dass es kaum Leser gibt, die die Sendungen nicht gesehen haben, aber trotzdem hier liegt die Begründung für meine sehr gute Bewertung: das Comic ist vollwertiger X-Files-Genuss, kein Ersatz. Und wer auf UFOs, Verschwörungen und Mystery steht, wird glücklich gemacht.

Einige Jahre später:
Beim Wieder=Lesen der Pilotfolge heftiger Nostalgie=Anfall: Scully und Mulder waren die Besten, und ich wüsste von keiner Serie, die die Fußstapfen von Akte X füllen könnte, bis heute nicht!
Der erste Band der X-Files Classics ist ein wahrer Klassiker, aber ich müsste doch bei Gelegenheit meine alten topps=Hefte raussuchen: Ich meine, die waren im Format größer. Und selbst falls nicht: Es wäre an der Zeit, einen wirklich großformatigen X-Files Omnibus herauszubringen, denn die Augen der Fans der ersten Stunde werden nicht besser …

This adapts each of the first five episodes from season 1 into single issue stories: Pilot, Deep Throat, Squeeze, Conduit, and Ice.
The dialogue and in most cases even the panels are taken 1:1 from the script/episode stills. I can't fault the stories (the first five episodes of season 1 are all fantastic, Ice being one of my favorites of the whole series), but the art was really messy and unclear in parts, it felt kind of rushed? Maybe that's just what you get from non-mainstream comics from the 90s. Props on Scully's likeness to Gillian Anderson though, they did a great job with her, as they did with Mulder and Deep Throat. These are great and faithful adaptations, though it can be argued that such exact (graphic) novelizations of episodes are a bit redundant—they're a great way to revisit the early episodes though!

Loved this! It was like re-watching some of my favorite episodes. This would have been a five star rating but I found some of the illustrations to be messy and unclear. Otherwise an excellent read for any X Files fan :D

I can't quite put into words how big of an X-Files fan I was back when the show was airing. It is without a doubt the most passionate and devoted I have ever bene to a single IP. I only wish they had released the entire season in comics form, rather than doing less than half before the comics collection ended, I assume due to low sales. Hell, give me the first 5 or six seasons in comic form while you're at it.
Whilst the masterful Roy Thomas handles the adaptations, these are pretty much a direct conversion of the script into comic form, with the occasional amendment included where necessary, which is the main reason this collection is so amazing. These episodes, these scripts, most of the are god tier, and some of the best episodes of the show ever, even though these are all taken from the opening half of season one. It's not the hardest thing in the world to adapt these so well when the source material is just that damn good.
Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the art, which is average to sub standard throughout. I get it, there probably wasn't a tonne of money behind these titles in order to attract better artists, but sometimes it's so bad, the only reason I could tell what was going on was my familiarity with the episode. I really couldn't imagine how someone without that knowledge would fare. So don't be going into this expecting a feast for the eyes, for you will be bitterly disappointed.
If you're a fan of the show, these are a fun, new way to experience a halcyon period of the show in a different format. If you've never seen the show before, watch the episodes themselves and leave this for another time. 4.5/5

Perfectly serviceable adaptations of a few season one episodes. The art works well enough, despite, as mentioned in some reviews below, being a little dark and unclear in some parts. The main thing that stands out is that Roy Thomas was the scripter for these, which seems incredible, but apparently he was doing licensed tie-ins for Topps at the time. I can't really recommend going out of your way to read this one since there's nothing here you won't get from the episodes themselves, but they're still enjoyable.

Comic book adaptations of the first five episodes. The art styles in these actually convey a dark and mysterious atmosphere pretty well. Also funny how August 7 played into one of the stories.

An almost perfect translation of the tv episodes to comic format, my main quibble is with how dark the art is, making some parts only intelligible if you have watched the show. Nothing new here, but I like comics and I like X-Files so...

Reading these stories brings so many memories of the episodes themselves, I can almost hear the lines being spoken. A fun way to re-experience these early episodes.

Mostly this is a reminder of how great the show was, but there is some spotty artwork and some rushed storytelling.
