Sophia Miller, an openly lesbian supermodel, enjoys her solitary life in the bustling heart of New York City. But when her gay millionaire best friend, Chris Anderson, requests her to play his pretend girlfriend for a family gathering in Texas, she can't refuse. After all, Chris is on the brink of becoming the CEO of the billion-dollar Anderson Corp.
Enter Alissa Anderson, the Oxford and Cambridge-educated, closeted lesbian daughter of the conservative and formidable Henry Anderson. With the CEO position at Anderson Corp now up for grabs, Alissa finds herself in a fierce rivalry with her own brother. Ascending to the top of the family business and shattering traditional gender roles has always been her ultimate dream. However, her well-laid plans begin to unravel when she encounters her brother's "girlfriend" at a pivotal family gathering on their Texas ranch.
When Sophia and Alissa's worlds collide at the Anderson estate, everything is on the line: the coveted CEO position, concealed sexual identities, a sham relationship, and a burgeoning real one that threatens to bloom amidst the chaos.
I am your friendly neighborhood Sapphic romance writer, who has a knack for writing steamy romances, that also work as comfort reads. I know, a conundrum! But once you give my books a shot, you'll know what I mean! I live in London, a few streets away from where Sherlock Holmes used to live, so... if I you find me taking too long to publish my next book, I am probably off with Mr. Holmes on an adventure.
I read this in a night. I'm a sucker for a cute love story. This has just enough spice too. I was captivated by each characters pull to each other but both having hesitations for similar yet unique reasons. It was easy to relate to self opinions on ambition and how we measure success and for what reasons are we trying to do something at the sake of happiness. This book came to me at the right time and I loved it. I will say it's not the best writing and it is cheesy but a very easy read.
Of all the couples of this amazing series, Al and Soph has got the least steamy scenes and did not act in ways by sleeping with someone else, knowing they hurting them. Enjoyed the easy banter between MC's and see where they end up later in the sequal. Think Emma deserved so much better as she was only mentioned here.
Alissa and her brother Chris want the job of president of their fathers empire. Who does he choose? Does it matter that both are gay? Sophia is Chris's pretend girlfriend who has fallen in love with Alissa. Which field will Alissa choose to follow? Her dream of owning her father business or a follow Sophia? Enjoy!
Overall, the story is well written and an easy read. There were moments where I couldn't put the book down but there were also moments where I was cringing slightly. It was mainly the writing style of the smut, it wasn't my cup of tea. It felt like I was reading a mid tier fanfiction. But otherwise, it had the right amount of fluff and angst.
I don't usually read this kind of book, it just caught my attention on Ku and I went in like *why not*. I didn't expect to like it that much, but it was actually so good, I love Alissa and Sophia!! The spicy scene between them were hot, the tension all through the Book!! But.. I do feel like some scene were cut short. I still liked it and giving it a 4stars.
This book was painful to read at times. The sex scenes felt far from sapphic, there were scenes that felt like they were written by a straight cis-man. I don’t know this author, I don’t mean to be rude. The writing felt more like a tumblr story than a book. I wouldn’t recommend this book at all. Also, THE FUCKING FEMUR IS THE STRONGEST BONE IN THE BODY. NOT THE FUCKING SHIN. FOR FUCKS SAKE.
I really enjoyed the character growth that this novel offers in the three main characters, Alissa, Sophia, and Chris. There is a lot of real-world comparisons and pop culture mentions that make this book easily relatable and fun to read. The ending was a happy one for me, though I wish it would have been elaborated a bit more.
This book was just okay. It was a quick and easy read, but it had a distinctly male perspective that felt off at times. Some of the descriptions were strange and almost comically overdone, which made it hard to take seriously. I managed to get through it, and it wasn’t the worst thing I’ve read—but I definitely wouldn’t recommend it, and I can’t say I really enjoyed it.
In our journey we often find moments that are contrast to who we are and who we want to become. Often at times we embrace them or ignore them. It is the openness to be who want that leads us to finding love that leads us to a HEA.
Sophia and Alissa make quite a pair, but this story centers around Alissa finding herself and then deciding to live her life on her own terms. And the ending? Emotionally powerful.
Alissa was such a mf flirt I can’t! She knew what she was doing from the beginning going to bed with Sophia in the same bed in her red lace underwear 😂✋🏽 poor Sophia stood no chance. I really enjoyed this book.
I really enjoyed reading this book it was very good, and I enjoyed the characters, I wish there was another series to these three books. Since there isn't, I'll just read the series all over again .
I loved this book! Such a feel good ending and a welcome change to the way that life can actually be for many of us. It’s nice just to get lost in this story and of course the spice never hurts. I recommend reading this book for the smile!
so bad - the book just made me angry because of the lack of communication. I kept thinking while reading, why the hell can't you just say what you want?! the plot was really cheap
had high hopes but it wasn’t written super well and just felt very meh and predictable. one of the main characters was also constantly referred to as ‘exotic’ which really rubs me the wrong way.
