The Sum of Random Chance is Lee Chamber's second jaw-dropping novel. Gripping and totally unpredictable, this book will have you hooked until the end.

The Sum of Random Chance is about a young reporter named Cole, who's life isn't going so great at the moment. He's been set boring assignments from his boss, Karen, since day one and his girlfriend is always moaning about money. But when Cole ends up in the middle of a supermarket robbery, he thinks it's fate. He whips out his camera and begins taking pictures. But something isn't right. A beautiful blond woman stands right next to the robber, smiling, and it's like no one else can see her. Is it magic? Is it his imagination? When Cole finally turns in his report...will his boss finally take him seriously?

The book is pretty hard to sum up in just a paragraph. It deserves so much more that a paragraph. The concept and thrilling plot line deserves more than a paragraph! I enjoyed every single page of The Sum of Random Chance, it kept me on the edge of my seat and wondering how it would end.

Cole is an entertaining and determined character, who I really enjoyed reading about. He has a tough life and I really felt sorry for him. His boss only gives him silly assignments that are hardly worth bothering with, and don't even get me started on his girlfriend. She's annoying, self-obsessed and extremely shallow! How Cole put up with her for so long is a mystery.

I also enjoyed Cole's blossoming relationship with Sara, a caring and beautiful young woman with special powers. Yes, special powers. It was interesting to read about both of their lives and how drastically they changed through out the book. If there were to be a sequel I would buy it as soon as possible, because the was the book ended was very annoying. It's one of those open ending where lots of threads are left untied and anything could happen next. Nevertheless, I thought the ending was well thought out and very fitting for the book.

Overall, The Sum of Random Chance is a perfect mystery read. Entertaining and addictive, if your looking for a short read this summer, make sure you pick up this one.

I started reading this one afternoon and before I knew it, I was done. I pretty much read it straight through in about 2 hours. I was drawn in immediately by Cole and once Sara was introduced I was hooked, I had to keep reading and I was a little sad when it was over. It's more a novella, but for such a short story it packs a big meaningful punch.

I don't want to give away any of the story, it's something that that each reader needs to uncover on their own. It's a small glimpse into how seemingly random, sometimes inconsequential incidents can multiply to alter one persons life in a very meaningful way.

The story begins with Cole on his way to work, mostly likely the same way as he began every day before. He and his girlfriend have been fighting, it's made clear that this isn't something new. He is tired of being just another low man on the paper, and he is waiting for that one story that will be his big break. It starts with the tiniest thing, a blow off piece for the paper, but the day ends so much differently than he expects.

We also meet Sara, and she is just lovely from the start. She is having a tough time in line at the grocery store, but she handles everything with a wonderful attitude. As we follow her through that first day we get a glimpse of how extraordinary she really is.

As the story progresses, Sara and Cole unwittingly cross paths over and over before they finally meet. All these random things that are happening are what has brought them together. It's a story that shows that no matter how minor something seems at the time, each little thing that happens contributes to the bigger picture. All the choices that you make throughout each day contributes to the kind of person that you are and eventually the kind of person that others see when they look at you.

This story had me hooked from beginning to end. There is just enough mystery to satisfy those who like that paranormal hook, but there is more to it than that. There is no way that you can walk away from this story without being affected by it's true meaning.

Do you believe in magic? Or do you think everything that happens has a logical explanation? When unexplainable events occur, like rain falling all around you but you stay dry, do you accept the mystery without question, or does your inquisitive mind start trying to find answers? What if you met a woman who had something special about her, something that just begged you to learn more?

In THE SUM OF RANDOM CHANCE, by Award Winning Writer and Director Lee Chambers, Cole Wilkes’ life is about to change in ways he could never imagine. He’s at the supermarket arguing with his girlfriend, Erin, one day, when two masked men, one carrying a baseball bat, the other a knife, charge into the store. Cole, a rookie reporter for the Observer newspaper, films the attempted robbery, attempted because for some weird reason, a gorgeous blond seems to cast a spell over one of the men, foiling the robbery. Cole, thinking he has the story of a lifetime, rushes to the office, sure he’ll make a hit with the boss, Karen. Instead, he’s fired for not covering the assignment she’d given him. With no girlfriend and no job Cole decides to learn more about Sara, the blond, and how she stopped the robbery.

Lee Chambers has written not just a mystery, but a story about finding what’s truly important in life. Sometimes we meet a person who is special in ways we don’t understand. They’re kind and gentle and maybe even a bit strange. Sara, in THE SUM OF RANDOM CHANCE, is such a character. We like her. Maybe it’s because she’s an image of what we wish we were. Maybe it’s because of other reasons. Cole is a character in conflict. His life revolves around Erin and his job, until he meets Sara who shows him, not so much by what she says as by how she lives, the real meaning of friendship and love. This is the magic.

WARNING This review may contain spoilers!

This is the first book I have read by Lee Chambers and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is quite a short book but that doesn't mean there is not plenty of story and twists and turns.

The story begins following Cole, a budding journalist on his way to work, we are introduced to Cole's boss, and work colleague and his girlfriend Erin. You soon get a flavour of each character's personality and I loved the character of Cole and also felt the characters Stephen and Karen were well ŵritten too.

Then the reader is introduced to Sara and she is completely loveable and intriguing. On this day an incident occurs which completely changes Cole's life, he is forced to reassess his life, and his outlook on life.

This is a story which delivers a positive message, it also makes you look at your own attitude towards things in life. There is a romantic link and also a supernatural twist which I found extremely readable.

I enjoyed the author's ability to tell a very engaging story and I found this book magical.

I do not want to spoil the ending but I will say that I loved the way it ended and I hope there will be a sequel soon. I would love to follow the individual character's lives, I believe each character is strong enough to have their own stories.

I have rated 4 stars but if there was an option to I would rate 4.4 stars.

Lee Chambers does it again with another fantastic novel.

Cole Wilkes is just like any other reporter, trying to get that big story that will shoot him to the top and start binging in the big bucks. probably to pay for his annoying girlfriend Erin's wardrobe.

Cole's life takes a dramatic turn While waiting in line to pay for grocery's with his girlfriend who he is arguing with. again. The store is held up by robbers, he begins taking picture while hiding away and is shocked when a mysterious girls seems to mesmerise one of the robbers. determined to get his scoop he decides to find out who she is.

Sara is such a lovely girl, the complete opposite to Erin. she will do what ever she can to help those who need it sometimes with kindness, others times with more mysterious ways

Cole as a choice. does he expose Sara and get his scoop or does he honour his friendship.

A beautiful story that teaches the true meaning of what is and isn't important and how the choices we make can no matter how small can have such a big impact on our world

it was no pineville heist but a great read. never read a book so fast in my life; couldn't put it down.

i loved lee's touches to the book: where he added gis favourite team was the devils and that was the main characters favouite as well. also that he cherished his nj devils coffee mug more than anything.

yhe other favouite thing he added was "the pineville heist. who reads this crap?" loved it.

a must read for everyone. grab your copy at christmas.

I wasn't overly impressed with this book. It was more of a 2.5 star effort, but since half stars aren't allowed I gave the author a break and rounded up. I got this as a free download on my kindle, so I guess it was totally worth what I paid for it.

This one of my favorite short stories. I like the way the story was developed, original and full of surprises. Although I wanted to learn more about the characters, the ending made sense. Well done.
