I hate zombies. I flat out refused to read this book. My review reflects the opinion of the small people who invaded my home last night. 5 year old small person has zombies on the brain, thanks to Minecraft. He was absolutely delighted with this book! His big sister, 7 1/2, was able to easily read this to him. They both really enjoyed it. They read it with my dad, who thought it was cute, and stated they learned a lot about plants. Warning: This book is based on a video game or vice versa! The children proceeded to go on YouTube and show us videos of people playing the game. I did not choose to enlighten them that the library also owns the game.
If you have small, silly people in your life who love scary, creepy stuff like zombies, this book will tickle their fancy.
My oldest is currently obsessed with Plants vs. Zombies and had to have this book as part of the Barnes and Noble reading program. Even though it is a "level 2," it is not something she can read easily. However, it has all the main plants from the game and she loves it.
Plants and Zombie fans will like this beginning book where they can read about a high interest topic. Could start some good conversations and the show.
I have never heard of the game on which this was based, but the story makes much more sense now that I know it's based on a game, since it was very similar to an online game tutorial.
