ღ 𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 𝐆𝐔𝐘, 𝐖𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐆 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐃 ღ Is a full length second chance romance book by Author Jewel E. Ann. Spoken in 'dual perspectives.' HERO: Eric HEROINE: Anna Whatever this author writes.. I will read..No matter how deep a funk has sunk its claws into me, this author always pulls me out of it..And this book did exactly that, it pulled me in and hit me with the feels straight away, this is the Jewel E Ann I love, where her quirky sense of humor is haphazardly thrown into the pages of her stories.
As soon as these two met they had that insta attraction thing going on. He'd moved into the same building as her, happy go lucky kind of guy, opening his own slogan tee-shirt shop until he decided what he wanted to do with his life.
And Anna works at a bouldering gym.
Eric was just about perfect, until he opened his mouth and words that popped out were not the ones she was hoping for, it all happened over a book, a book she loved, and the others within the book club did too going by their feedback, until it came to him, and his opinion on it made him appear not so perfect, where the books had souls and every cutting word would destroy the characters in her perfect fictional world.

Like a dog with a bone, Anna just couldn't/wouldn't let it go, and for a while admittedly she got the stink eye often from me, until it's revealed why she got her back up, why her reaction to his words affected her how they did. And his words had a domino effect.
In my eyes he was utter perfection, he had me giggling and loving the unexpectedness of him. Admittedly Anna kind of got my back up, here she had the almost perfect guy, but trust in this author and like me you'll end up liking her too.

I wanted to like this book so much. SO MUCH. So much so that I've sat on my rating for weeks, thinking I'd change my rating when I cool down. But sadly, it continues to sit firmly at a 2 star rating for a few reasons.
1. This was simply not enough story for a full length novel. I would have had a much easier time had this been a novella. As it was, it felt stretched out unnecessarily with not enough meat on the bones to keep me invested in this couple. Knowing that it was originally a short story made sense. It fits as a short story. But as a full length novel, it barely did.
2. Anna. When I say that I hated her, I mean I legit wanted to reach through my kindle and c*nt punch her. True story. She was immature, selfish, unreasonable, and barely tolerable in the first half of the book. She does finally mature and grow up in the final 30%, but by then it was just too little too late for me. I also couldn't connect the two versions of her. It was like two completely different women. Which I guess I can see once she finally gets her sh*t together, but I think my dislike of her in the first 70% was so strong, that I simply could never get past it.
3. Eric fuck*ng Steinman. I loved this man so much. But I swear, he was too tolerant at times. Not quite a doormat, but like two steps from it. He was simply too good, too understanding, and too tolerant for what Anna deserved. I said what I said.
I did like the ending and the last 10% helped redeem this book slightly for me. Just not enough to raise my rating, sadly. It is what it is.
So many loved this one. I really wish I was one of them. But you can't help your likes, so read this and judge for yourself.

4-4.5⭐️ When Anna’s sexy new neighbor Eric wants to join her bookclub, she happily agrees - that is until he uses the wrong word to describe her favorite book. As sparks fly and heated words are exchanged, they must figure out if a potential relationship can overcome their difference of opinion.
This was such an engaging, quick read that I was able to feel fully immersed in almost from the start. I say it all the time, but it’s worth noting again - Jewel E. Ann’s characters are so relatable and this book was no exception. Anna had me in stitches over the deep-seated anger she felt over criticism towards her bookclub pick, and I absolutely adored her feisty nature when dealing with “Eric F&cking Steinmann”.

I was so excited to read this book because, I mean, books on the cover, plus it’s written by Jewel E. Ann. Unfortunately, it wasn’t my cup of tea. I found Anna so unlikable. Eric was fine, and the last bit was better than the start, but this one was just okay for me.

Eric Steinmann and his mating dance. Swoon big time. After reading the short story The Last Person I fell in love with Eric and thankfully I got more of his swoony ways trying to woo Anna.
This second chance romance was so good. Fun and sexy.
The beginning of their relationship and their bantering was amazing. The chase and Anna trying to resist the mating dance that is Eric.
Timing is everything and so is being honest with yourself and your feelings. They both learn from their mistakes and their way back to one another was beautiful.
The side characters were great too especially Freya and Eric’s dad.
I had such a good time with these characters. For book lovers this romance is a must read.

You had me at book loving hero….and then I was disappointed.
The first 50% had the annoying heroine doing the most over a fictional book and the last half was just cringey with so much unnecessary talks about the hero’s father’s porn watching habits and dirty underwear 😬
But I did enjoy Eric and Anna’s banter. Eric was really hilarious.

So, Jewel's books are either hit or miss with me.
I still have confused feelings about this one.
I loved the whole idea, and plot of this story, but the heroine was so annoying in the first 40% that I almost dnf'ed the whole book.
In summary, if you end up loving this heroine you will love the story.

I really at first was not loving the FMC, but I trusted in Jewel, and I am so glad I did. Not only did she surprise me, but she turned the FMC into someone I ended up liking!
I thoroughly enjoyed this one, and left this book with a smile on my face. This wasn’t as painful as some Jewel books I’ve read, but it still brought me all the feels.
I loved it! Read it when it comes out August 3rd!

As always, Jewel E. Ann knows the tune to my own heart and she is playing it like an expert!!!
This small novel wasn't an exception...
It got me out of my reading slump... I laughed, I smiled, I swoon over Erik's mating dance and I got sentimental at some points..
Anna and Erik was a breath of fresh air and I enjoyed this ride alongside them...
"If I get lost in you, I will lose myself."
"And that's bad?"
"It would be tragic."
Everything started when Anna met her sexy neighbor, Erik Steinmann and then, he joined her book club and with one single word, he ruined everything for them...
But don't fool yourselves!!! Erik has the moves and he never gives up...
Unfortunately for him, he was almost perfect, until he kept ruining everything with opinionated one words for Anna's favorite book...
"He's insulted my favorite book. And books are my friends, so I must defend my friends."
Anna was smitten with this guy, but books were her soul and this certain book was holding her soul in the middle of its pages...
So, when Erik fucking Steinmann started to criticized it, she had to defend her soul!!!
It didn't help the fact that this man and his mating dance were calling her to him...
Can this thing between them to exist when no one of them can fully accept the other as they are???
Can an opinion of a book destroy something magical and once in a lifetime???
"I have better words but never find the right ones with Anna. I'll never say the right thing."
I loved Anna and her craziness about books!!! Yes, I am a crazy book lady too, but she went ten steps ahead of me. Lol!!!
But I can forgive her for her craziness!!!! She had her reasons, after all!!!
As for Erik??? God, I loved this guy sooo much!!! He was so funny and unapologetical honest!!! I liked his mating dance very much and I liked him for the way he was loving the crazy lady who was offended all the time by his words!!!
These two were perfect for each other... They just had to work a little bit about the "Almost" that was standing between their perfection...

How do you do it Jewel?!? How do you create the best fictional males. Eric. Oh Eric. How I adore you.
If you are looking for a book that brings you joy and smiles but also those swoon worthy moments, definitely pick up this book.
“Books aren’t life. People use them to escape life, learn things that will help them achieve success, or find new ways to cope with life. Life is what happens outside the bound story. Life isn’t the letters on the page; it’s what inspires those words.”
Book lovers definitely need to check out this romance.

Anna + Eric
Des Moines, Iowa. Anna and Eric live in the same building. It's kind of insta attraction on both sides. But when Eric joins Anna's book club and insults her favorite book, she insta hates him. Not really, she's still super interested, but why? Why must he be so annoying!? LOL!

I love that we get two completely 'average' twentysomethings here. Anna works in the office of a Bouldering Gym thing. And Eric is opening his own cool-slogans-T-Shirts shop. Well, okay, he's also kinda a rich boy who is just living his dream for a bit until he has to take over the family business! Lol.
I loved how adorable Eric 'courts' Anna. But I hated how awful she was most of the time. Why is she so effing weird about the book? So what if he doesn't like it - she doesn't have to break his heart and break up with him over it. Right?
I kinda hated her the first half of the book.
It got so much better when they meet again three years later. But also. Why? Why is she suddenly all grown up? It felt a bit weird.
I know this book used to be a short story and it was made into a full length novel. But I still felt that a lot of things were missing. Not really sure what... but ... things. I needed more of lots of everything. It felt so randomly thrown together at times. Weird. No idea what I'm talking about. LOL!
I still liked reading it. I loved Eric. He was great and sweet and smart and all the things. But he was also a bit immature in how he dealt with things.
But still. It was an adorable romance that might have needed a bit more time and editing and adding and taking out-ing. Just like Anna's favorite book.
RIGHT GUY, WRONG WORD was an adorable love story. Sweet. Funny. Booky. A bit heartbreaking. Second-Chancy. READ IT!

Not many authors can make me cry at the end of a romcom. Not many authors are Jewel. E. Ann.
Completely unique, Right Guy, Wrong Word hits where we need it. Eric Steinmann is the perfect hero! He’s athletic, smart, hilarious, and well-read. But when it comes time for him to critique Anna Black’s book club pick, all bets are off. She can’t move past it.
This book is supremely angsty, incredibly smart, and sexy as hell. I wish I could read it again for the first time.

This book is supremely angsty, incredibly smart, and sexy as hell. I wish I could read it again for the first time.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this. It was fun, had great banter and quirky moments. I read this when it was initially a short story and was intrigued to find out it was turning into a full novel. The problem I had was that this didn't really feel like a novel, it still felt like the same short story. The first half jumped right into it and was pretty much the same story. It was insta love with no real depth or background. Everything just happened, it almost felt like the book skipped 5 chapters. I felt like I was only ok with it because I read the story before. We got a little bit more depth in the 2nd half but still questionable cheesy actions from these characters. Still had a great time reading it but could've definitely been longer and more in depth

Jewel E Ann does no wrong in my book! EVER!!! I love the way she tells a story. The way she can make me laugh one minute and make me teary the next. How she makes the characters leap off the page and feel as if they are right in front of you. This book was precious!
Eric “*uck!ng” Steinmann” will go down as one of my fave Book boyfriends!!! He was swoon worthy in every way and boy did he know how to love🩵
Anna Black was infuriating most of the time but redeemed herself in the end!
Neighbors that meet in the complex, where they live, book club, they have an immediate connection and an undeniable chemistry! They have a love hate vibe and it was so cute! It’s all good until he says the wrong word….
Their banter was so fun and the dialogue game was strong in this one…no fluff and I was here for it!
Oh and side note…his dad “Will” made me HOWL🤣
This was much more than romance, this was about realizing that the only self affirmation you need is from the reflection in the mirror. It was also about accepting love in any capacity is a good thing, whether it be a one time love, a friendly love, a lost love or a true honest to God love, down in your bones where there are differing opinions and tastes. We all have differing opinions and diversity and that’s what makes this crap world a better place! I have always said that reading is subjective and it is shown in this book. We can’t all like/love the same things because if we did it would be a boring place.

I have really loved every Jewel E Ann book I’ve read. This was such a fun rom-com and I loved every minute. I found myself smiling at my Kindle and laughing out loud... it was so SO good!
From Eric’s antics and banter and his delicious smirk... let's not even talk about the mating dance LOL. Eric's relentlessness really endeared him to my heart. His heart really shined throughout this book and made him one of my favorite book boyfriends ever!
I did feel conflicted about Anna at first. I didn't understand why she couldn't get over his review of one of her favorite books... until it was revealed and I got it. At first, I just wanted her to get over her ego so desperately, but I understood her insecurity. I guess I just kept wishing that she saw that Eric's words were never meant to intentionally hurt her. :(
But it's not over for these two despite how they left things off, the words that they did and did not say. I was so happy when it all turned around in the best way possible.
This was a light, quick read that I needed to get me over my reading slump. ❤️ I will read anything this author writes... anything... even her grocery list lol Her words are magical ❤️

Right Guy, Wrong Word was a fun cute love story. The banter between Eric and Anna was hilarious. Jewel E Ann knows how to write a story, the way she can make me laugh one minute and shed a tear the next. I highly recommend this book.

I love Jewel's books and her rom coms are always fast reads for me. This one definitely had plenty of witty banter and unique characters in it. It was a fun; lighthearted and entertaining read and I certainly did enjoy it.
Even so I would have to say that my favorite reads by this author though are definitely her darker and heavier stories. They are just naturally more intense, emotionally charged and absolutely unforgettable...also they are the ones that I am more inclined to feel compelled to read again..."Scarlet Stone" and "The Jack and Jill series" are perfect examples...so very good!

This was a messy, but relatable second chance romance. I loved the banter between Eric and Anna and it was so fun to see them go head to head. After a while though, I started to get frustrated with the continued push and pull. I understand Anna’s hurt feelings and hesitation (especially after all was revealed), but it still annoyed me how she treated Eric. The romance felt really raw at times, but I appreciated how honest it was and how it allowed both characters to grow. Ultimately, they both recognized their mistakes and how they hurt each other, which made the ending quite satisfying. I loved how the story came full circle.
The narration by Stella Bloom and Oscar Reyes was really enjoyable. Oscar Reyes wasn’t quite how I imagined Eric though and his voice didn’t always have the most variation or inflection.

This was a super short audiobook and I was able to binge it in one-sitting. This was described as more of a romcom from Jewel E Ann and I was intrigued because it features a bookish heroine and hero. Basically the hero and heroine meet and she quickly invites him to join her book club. He accepts and then is the only one who doesn’t love the book and since it’s the heroine’s fav she’s incredibly hurt and can’t get over it.
This was fast-paced and felt insta-lovey. Apparently this book was originally published as a novella, but then it got reworked/added to and rereleased with a new title. The plot definitely felt maybe a bit disjointed, like when you read it, it very much feels like it was once published as a novella if that makes sense.
