Being indentured to the God of Dungeons was not on Sebastian’s list of life goals, but when an unfortunate encounter with a semi-truck sent him on a journey across the cosmos to a new world, he did a pretty good job of rolling with the punches.
Bonding a beautiful succubus, teaming up with a gorgeous redhead warrior, and saving the world from a demon invasion… All in a day’s work, but as they No rest for the wicked.
With the threat of another demon incursion looming on the horizon, our intrepid hero has been subcontracted out to the Goddess of Towers to assist her Chosen in determining if the Argent Spire has been compromised.
Seems straightforward, right? Not so much. The Argent Spire’s level requirements mean a few pitstops along the way to grind out some levels and gear… and then there’s surviving elven politics.
This book contains cursing, violence, untraditional relationships, and adult content.
I should probably give the book a 4 star review… but I won’t. Even though I gave the first book 5 stars the series is quite superb. It does have its problems though. The MC can be annoying at times. Getting things through his thick skull can be trying on ones patience. Also the annoying side characters and the way the MC gets walked on disgusts me as well. The way the book ended was truly the straw that broke the camels back.nothing was explained about lyras safety or what was going on with her. Also I’m a simple man… the Ku’vis needs to perish. What he did goes against the gods will. He shouldn’t be allowed to continue to breathe… now that a guildmaster knows how does our MC intend to do guild business with adventures and the guild now that this particular guild master will most likely inform ALL guild branches about our MC? The cliffhanger truly upset me as well. I will definitely read the next book, hopefully the author isn’t sitting on his hands or writing some new series… I dislike it when authors do that. They give us a series and get some new inspiration and write and release something new leaving those that fell in love with the other series in a lurch. Sighs, anyways, I like the series even though it has hiccups. There was plenty of times I laughed out loud and the author has a great sense and taste in music! A lot of the side characters are really good… especially lyras uncle 😉 and a few others were quite cool. But I think the series also needs to patch up a few things. This book though had its ups and downs. Definitely a stupendous series but there are some shadows that could be fixed. Anyways, onward lads…. Hopefully we get book three soon.
There are a number of things that prevented me from giving it five stars that I'll be talking about below, but I'm not good at doing that without spoilers so this is your only warning. The succubus looks into the mcs memories growing up and then uses his most embarrassing moments to blackmail him into doing what she wants. Also, his women are so into each other that a part of me wonders if they care about each other more than him. The mc also had to deal with royalty, which means seeing a lot of the mc lowering his head to people that don't deserve it all. Oh, and the princess threw herself at the mc who is forced to accept her advances or get killed all because she sees him as a bad boy, something that isn't remotely true if you don't count the mcs class.
I liked it but at the same time it felt like the book didn’t quite live up to the potential. So far progress has been made but the MC still feels very underpowered compared to everything around him and it chafes, especially when it sort of feels like he could be much more powerful/better prepared with what’s he’s been through so far. Also I wish he’d take more of a direct role in combat. His support at the moment feels absolutely useless. Hopefully he gets a bit more active in the next one.
Another enjoyable adventure as the MC gains new allies but also detractors
Sebastian and Lyra are tasked to investigate another dungeon, actually a tower that has gone off-line. They are to meet some allies who turn out to be highly formal elves of noble birth. What could go wrong? Their primary contact Raevyn however turns out to be rather freaky, in a good way. Still, they meet opposition, but also gain unexpected allies before the final confrontation with the invading demon Lord. A fun read with plenty of adventure, snarky sayings and a few last minute saves.
The story was pretty solid, except for the bit at the end with the letter from the uncle accusing MC of having elf girl under his spell. What horseshit. And those idiots all believing it. And of course MC runs away to the perfect location to bang his next babe. I know thats pretty much a must in a harem novel, that MC must find himself in a nice cozy bedroom for such things, but sometimes it feels entirely too contrived or convenient.
Sebastian has grown into a more powerful warlock as the forces of he'll make some gains in other areas. But with his succubus bond mate, a sexy light blade and now an Eleven princess things are looking up, but the new quests will be a challenge. Looking forward to book 3!
I loved the first book and book 2 only compounds the fun and Thrills to make this series even better.
With new allies, an urgent quest and more machinations behind the scenes, Sebastian and his party face their most dangerous for yet. And this is just the beginning of what is to come, and I'm looking forward to reading the next book!
The first book was good and well paced but the MC is boring. Mild spoilers ahead:
The MC has a alias as a bard but no charisma, doesn't use playing to gather more information, he will play one song then be done in a bar. Another MC that has to have a meaningful connection but has that connection in two days.
Love the characters and the story. Story really just starts the story of the war to come. MC is definitely powerful, but not to the point of making it boring. Very fun so far
There is a fine line between well trod and predictable.
This has crossed that line. Once the elven royalty arc hit, it was all downhill. The main character with his bull headed stubbornness, the royalty with their boring predictability, it was all paint by number.
The second book is better than the first. The depth of characters and the way they all interact with each other is exciting and leads to possibilities that I didn’t expect.
A fun and exciting fantasy adult adventure that will keep you entertained for hours!!! Lots of adult activities mixed throughout the many adventures!!!
And the amazing and slightly different adventure continues. Thoroughly enjoying the journey with our heroes. Thank you for continuing the amazing journey
