Een zeer beknopte kijk op executieve functies en hoe je om kunt gaan met leerlingen die zwakke executieve functies hebben. Het boek bevat weinig theorie, dus veel over executieve functies kom je hierdoor niet te weten. Het praktische deel is echter ook niet sterk te noemen want het bevat te weinig bruikbare handvatten om te gebruiken, zeker niet in het basisonderwijs. Jammer. Ik had hier meer van verwacht.

Het boek legt goed uit wat executieve functies zijn en geeft voldoende voorbeelden.
Maar ik vind het te theoretisch. Er komen weinig tips aan bod die je meteen in de praktijk kan toepassen.

Boosting Executive Skills is a useful book for teachers. It introduces the idea of executive skills which are the abilities to plan, stay organized, keep focused, etc. It also gives practical ideas for working with students who have weaknesses in this area. The book is short and easy to read, which is both its strength and weakness. It is a great starting place for those like me who have a limited knowledge of the topic, and I anticipate referring back to its charts and checklists as I make future plans. However, I was left wanting more.
