An essential guide to making the most of your running, whether a fun run, a marathon or somewhere in between, by one of the world's greatest living athletes
A successful and gifted runner, Paula Radcliffe is perfectly placed to write this essential companion guide. Aimed at both novices and experienced athletes, it tells runners everything they need to know about preparation, diet, equipment, training, and technique, whether it's once to go around the block once a week, more serious preparation for a charity race or half-marathon, or dedicated training over a period of months for a full marathon. A new mother herself, there's also a section on exercising while pregnant, as well as tips and insights from her huge experience of running all distances in all weather. Superbly clear, well organized, and fully illustrated throughout, this is the only book athletes need to get the best out of running.
Finally finished this book, been reading it for about a year. The writing was so small I struggled to see haha. Some OK points but very sponsor orientated with every recommendation referring to the brand with a tick. The plans look quite good to follow and the exercise workouts.
yeah, ok. ALthough I have already read pretty much everyting in here, due to reading running magazines. I am very glad that I borrowed it from my library, rather than buying it as it only lasted me under two hours, mainly in part to the pictures.
An excellent introduction if you have not read much about running, but if you have, don't bother. Lots of pretty pictures though!
Basically, a prettier version of other running books I've read in the past. The main thing I walk away from the book with is a certainty that Ms Radcliffe is sponsored by Nike, given the extent and exclusivity with which she plugs their products
Great book full of interesting stuff. A must read for any runner or anyone thinking of running :) I found this book easy to dip into as I can't read non-fiction from cover to cover.
