I don't know if you have ever read manga or watched anime - I'm guessing you have not, considering it's more an Asian thing beyond Pokémon and Naruto -_-' - but like a good book, a good manga or anime can totally sweep you off your feet and pull you down the spirally-swirling road of addiction - ahem, love. Yes, LOVE!!! You see, I just finished an anime series - four seasons! And I pretty much cried at every single season finale and then laughed through my tears right after. (If I ever appear schizo... you'd know why.) - and now I'm feeling the empty, hollowed hole it has left behind in me. *CRY!!!*
Zero no Tsukaima (The Familiar of Zero) - First written as a Japanese light-novel by *forgot author name*, it was later developed into manga and animes. The story revolves around a second-year student at the Magic Academy of Tristain, Louise Francoise Le Blanc de la Valliere (Trivia: Have I told you how the Japanese people - especially in manga/anime - have this fetish to bring in French sounding names and other objects whatever? They love the French culture and don't laugh at their weird pronounciations! They are just imitating French, not English.) and her magical familiar, Hiraga Saito, a boy from Tokyo, Japan, Earth. Well, Louise is nicknamed "Zero no Louise" or "Louise the Zero" by her classmates for being a seemly fail mage as she couldn't cast spells relating to any of the four elements: earth, air, fire, water, and any spells she tries to cast ends up as an explosion. At the beginning of the 2nd year - the beginning of the anime series - the students all need to do a summoning ritual to summon a "tsukaima" 0r "familiar" and while others summon dragons and other such creatures, Louise managed to open a portal into the "normal" world - our world - and summoned a boy, Hiraga Saito. And despite much horror - on both Louise and Saito's part as they couldn't understand each other at the start, one speaking Japanese and the other speaking "French" Japanese - Louise sealed the summoning by kissing Saito - cheesy, I know, but it's so adorable! - Whereupon a burning mark appeared on the back of his left hand. Finally the rituals ended with all the students having a tsukaima and much humiliation on Louise's part - because in their world Halkeginia - the continent where countries like Tristain(Imaginary, or you could even say supposedly the Calais region of France, right across the English Channel, so to speak - this is where the main parts of the anime takes place) Albion(England/UK), Germania(Germany), Gallia(France)and Romalia(The Holy Roman Empire) exist on,(where there're two MOONS!!! So awesome, the big one blue and the small onw pink.) those that can use magic are the Aristocrats and those they can't are the commoners... So while all the other students managed to summon magnificent creatures to be their tsukaimas, "Zero no Louise" managed to summon a Commoner boy.
Being a historical-novel fan, I love this anime even more. You see, Yamaguchi-san knows his European history and I ate it right up. I have mentioned that Halkeginia resembles Western Europe and with almost all the countries there - Britain, France, Germany and Italy/The Holy Roman Empire - It's just... awesome - for lack of better word to express myself. All the characters - except Saito, after all, he's Japanese - have somewhat European-sounding names, like Louise, Henrietta, Tabitha/Charlotte, Tiffania and so on and so forth. The Prince of Albion (England) is called Wales Tudor while the leader of the rebel group called Reconquista is called Lord Cromwell. Coincidence? Uh-huh, totally. Lol, my personal favourite male character is called Julio Cesare. (Mind you, way hotter and better than Julius Caesar) There's a Pope in the Holy Roman Empire where there's a city made up of canals and waterways (Venice!). There's burning of villages of "Protestants" (Not by orders of the Pope though, gotta clarify that). There are knights, (OF COURSE! XD), called Chevaliers. There are Musketeers. There are mercenaries. The monarchy in each country is similar to the feudal system. Albion (England) is seperated from the mainland, though instead of sailing through the ocean to reach there, people sail through the sky. (Cool!) There are family feuds within some of the Royal families. There are quests. There are the four elements the alchemists based our world on. (Ho, ho, ho, Angels and Demons, Earth, Air, Fire and Water! With Magic!) There still exist the extinct species of GENTLEMEN from the past. (Ok... So maybe not since this contradicts with the Ecchi part but... At least most of them have manners.) There are arranged marriages. (Dang! At least most of the main characters are happy in the end.) There are beautiful cathedrals with painted glass and magnificent castles with grand solid towers and flags snapping in the wind. There are secret passageways. There are duels. Anyways, there are many things that I like about and you just have to watch to find out!
Oh my God, I know I'm totally out-doing this (My fingers feel kinda numb right now) selling Zero no Tsukaima, but I LOVE the anime - despite it being a bit Ecchi, meaning it contains sexual innuendos (Lols, hilarious sometimes)- and it's super frustrating without someone to gush to. (Heheheh, sorry, but you're just kinda at the wrong place at the wrong time...)
Anyways, there are four seasons: Zero no Tsukaima (13 ep), Zero no Tsukaima: Futasuki no Kishi (Season 2 - 12 ep), Zero no Tsukaima: Princess no Rondo (Season 3 - 12 ep), and Zero no Tsukaima: F (Season 4 - 12 ep).
And so, after watching a marathon of all the episodes in all four seasons - mind you, raging a lot at touchpad for loading SLLLLLOOOOWWWWLLLYYYYY, just wishing that I can be like Louise, going "EXPLOSION" and KABOOM! - I am now feeling completely drained and depressed and manga/anime deprived. *wail*
Haha, well, just as a way to let you off the hook now - again, sorry, but... heheh - I'll leave you with the link to I Say Yes, by Ichiko... The opening of Zero no Tsukaima: Futasuki no Kishi, and the song I'm totally obsessed with right now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2p3IJP...
Ten konec... SDFOEWQIWFILTCYSLASFL!!!!!!! Já teď chtěla jít číst něco jinýho! A necu hned číst dalš díly! A chci aby mi to etě chvíli vydrželo!!!!! :'IIIII
Dysfunctional relationship, so annoying and keep on repeating the same thing; it gets boring quick, u know. i will stop reading this series just because of that,
So this book goes back and tells what happened in episodes eight and nine and ending with episode 15 ( or episode 2 of season 2, specifically). The book was a lot more graphic and not just in brutality. Louise is kind of a freak O.O And I love Saito's new excuse "I have to feed the pigeons!!" *flee*. I am SO using that from now on.
