I bought this as a gag gift for my husband who still prefers Kraft Mac & Cheese to home-made. I thought some of the recipes might pique his interest, but they did not appeal to him at all. YMMV but I found most of the recipes in this book to be quite basic and the combination of ingredients often unappetizing. It read more like a children's recipe book or a freebie pamphlet included in a mac & cheese box, which could have been the target audience. I would not purchase this book again, but instead peruse the Internet for more imaginative ideas to dress up this basic meal.

I thought it would give some great ideas, but most of the recipes were very basic and uninteresting

I'd give it 2.5 stars - I like the concept but it's all just to beginner cook for me now. It does seem like the perfect (albeit stereotypical) student cookbook - very simple recipes using a box of KD. Some of the recipes were what I was expecting (ie, cook macaroni according to the box, then add ham, or bacon, or peas, and voila, supper), but I was sort of delighted to see some very retro macaroni salad recipes as well (you know, cold pasta salads with mayo and sweet pickle relish).
My own personal mac & cheese recipe (not one in this book) is to take white cheddar mac & cheese, and add cooked shrimp and chopped green onions. It is simple, but tasty!
Sadly, there were no pictures in this cookbook.

The 101 Things to Do Cookbook Series makes a great gift for the beginning cook. Each one contains quick, easy and impressive dishes to make. Great step by step instructions, which is very helpful because there are no pictures. At the beginning are helpful hints, which is almost the best part of the cookbook.
