A normal afternoon trip to the convenience store turned into an otherworldly journey when Aira Misono was summoned to the Kingdom of Salutania. The handsome prince Kyle believed Aira to be the long-awaited Holy Saint--but as it turns out, an entirely different girl was the true savior. Aira now follows the path of a magician, and has become a valued member of the Royal Magi Assembly. While the Saint carries the weight of the world on her shoulders, Aira uses her powers to try and help carry just a little bit of that burden. Her latest plan is to try and create a purifying holy water to purge the monsters and miasma that threaten her new home!
The mission in the Klausner Domain has ended and Aira returns to her job at the Royal Magi Assembly. And her new project is developing Holy Water using Sei's saint powers. If it works, it means Sei won't have to personally visit every area to clean out the miasma. But once the prototype is finished, they have to test it.
Yes, this is what I was wanting the whole time, a story about Aira that isn't just a rehash of the original series. Plus you get to see more of the other mages and not just as background characters to the Grand Magus.
It seems now that Sei can access the saint's art, perhaps her previous idea of holy water wasn't so far off. With Aira having the same idea and the two of them working together, they just may be able to make this a new staple reality in this world, at least for as long as there is a saint around to help create it. As usual, the grand magus is most interested in watching the magic casting and seeing what the effects of the magic are than anything else. Somehow, Sei has managed to keep her secret regarding how she activates the power. While it will increase Sei's orders to produce orders between the holy water and her usual potions, it could indeed help when it comes to the number of missions she may need to tag along on directly and what the knights can handle on their own.

Reading the main series back to back with this one really brings home how different the artwork is. I don’t like the art in the spin-off that much, TBH.
I find it strange that they’re still keeping Sei a secret even though it’s pretty openly known who she is at the palace. I also find their testing methodology to be strange - wouldn’t it make sense to mane several bottles of holy water, and try it first on weaker miasma, working your way up to stronger?

It's fine! The art isn't nearly as good as the main series, and the story is very one-note, but I like reading about Aira. This volume did make me start to ship Erhard with Yuri, which is fun. I wish Aira had more growth I guess? And that the artist was better with line work and screentones.
am I loving this because of how much I love all the characters from the main series? yes. but this one is still a pretty solid addition and continues to tell some of the stories we know but from new, fresh perspectives. sei + albert get a pretty damn cute rescue scene in this one!
