Scripts and Strategies in Hypnotherapy: The Complete Works

Rate this book
Roger P. Allen's 'Scripts and Strategies in The complete works' presents a comprehensive source of scripts and strategies that can be used by hypnotherapists to build a successful framework for any therapy session. This book or, to be more specific, this revised and updated compendium of Volumes I and II is designed to be of assistance to all therapists as they unlock the possibilities that exist for their clients and help them make significant and beneficial changes to their perceptions and beliefs. Upon compiling it, Allen's ultimate aim was to provide practitioners with the best toolkit of strategies possible, replete with a variety of practical scripts to serve as the basis for their interventions, derived from his own experiences as a therapist. It covers inductions, deepeners and actual scripts for a wide range of cases; from nail biting to insomnia, sports performance to past life recall, speech difficulty to loss and bereavement, pain management to resolving sexual problems, and more. There is a particularly comprehensive section on smoking cessation, including a specimen questionnaire for use during the initial interview as well as useful content for a leaflet on the dangers of smoking to give to clients to take away with them following the session. All of the scripts can be used as they stand, or adapted as necessary for specific situations and for client-specific needs and concerns. Suitable for hypnotherapists of all levels of experience.

Really good book - so helpful when starting to learn how to devise personal scripts for clients. I can see myself using this book for quite a while, dipping into it every now and again, while I get confident in my practice in writing personal screeds. Will qualify as a hypnotherapist (hopefully!) in Sept/Oct so will start working while I continue my next 2 years to be a psychotherapist and trauma specialist. I want to find books as helpful as this more often please! Very useful. Easily understood, straight to the point. Excellent!

Excellent for the beginner hypnotist

If you're just starting out of want some pointers on building classic hypnosis scripts then this book is for you.

If you're looking for something more Ericksonian then you'll need to look elsewhere.

There's scripts are direct suggestion scripts and although they're very good you should use them as a starting point for your own work.

If your are more directive in you're approach then take these scripts and rewrite them in your own voice.

A worthwhile addition too any hypnotherapy library.
