I am NOT a graphic designer and I don't play one on TV, but this was in my girlfriend's collection, and in originally just piecing through it, discovered that it had some great material on aspects of creativity and idea generation that were both sharply considered and helpful for writers as well as designers.

And many of the "don't just think outside the box, throw away the box" ideas are clearly timeless, because the book was written more than 25 years ago. There's (duh) a lot of stuff on how designers can work with clients that can apply to copywriters as well, and many examples of good design. I was particularly taken with the material on the use of typography to convey emotional states and dramatic enhancements to design layouts, because I've long been interested in type.

Worth a look, even if you aren't a designer.

A book I would have written--had I the talent or where with all. Good stuff with lots of the authors hand drawn notes--which are true gems!
