Tahar Ben Jelloun (Arabic: الطاهر بن جلون) is a Moroccan writer. The entirety of his work is written in French, although his first language is Arabic. He became known for his 1985 novel L’Enfant de Sable (The Sand Child). Today he lives in Paris and continues to write. He has been short-listed for the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Ha estat una delícia tornar a llegir aquest llibre després d'haver-ho fet per primer cop a l'escola, tants anys enrere.

El record constant dels debats que iniciaven alguns dels fragments del llibre a l'aula, juntament amb els escrits a banda i banda del text, que m'informaven dels elements als quals donava (o donàvem amb els companys) importància durant la lectura, només han sigut uns petits afegits a l'experiència de tornar a llegir un llibre senzill, clar i concís, de la història de l'islam i el seu significat en el moment actual (o més concretament, en el món de principis de segle).

La visió força liberal de l'autor, ajuda a trencar molts mites i mal entesos al voltant d'una religió cada cop més perseguida i criminalitzada. El seu enfocament cap al públic infantil i jove, tant del món occidental com del món oriental, converteix aquest llibre en lectura obligatòria sobretot a l'Europa actual.
