There really is something special about a Star Wars book made about Darth Vader before the release of The Empire Strikes Back. A lot of the key Darth Vader moments haven't been seen yet so Darth Vader is just that spooky guy on the Death Star that killed Obi-Wan that one time, but that was still plenty of material to make a tie-in children's activity book and that's really charming.

Probably not actually a 4/5 book (do activity books even count as literature?) but I'm rating it this high for the novelty and for those killer pen drawings of Darth Vader doing things like holding a card to a frightened child and looking cross that he lost his cape.

My favorite moments:
*The short four panel comic of Obi-Wan losing at the lightsaber duel and disintegrating into a pile of clothes.
*The crossword puzzle that is only partially about Star Wars and has clues like "wet dirt" and "first man in the Bible".
*The arts and crafts pages listing "typewriter paper" in the art supplies list, making this book unfathomably old to someone born in the 90's.
*Two jawas having a heart-to-heart talk.
*DEATH STAR COOKIES. YIELD: 2 LARGE DEATH STARS
*Two of the answers for "What did the Death Star have on board?" are "food" and "water". Thanks.

This book was quite entertaining, short and filled with children's activities. I happen to like children's activities, and though my particular edition is scribbled in, it is entertaining nonetheless. The book has many word puzzles, some mazes, a couple of games, a few coloring activities, and even a recipe. It may be short but it is chock full of fun. Let's get out our cookie sheets and make a couple of death stars!
