From Apatosaurus to Zupaysaurus, the 26 dinosaur friends in this oversized board book will enchant preschoolers and help them learn their ABCs. Developed in conjunction with paleontologists at the American Museum of Natural History, it features extra-large letters; bright, detailed illustrations of the dinos (many on display in the museum); information about each creature; and an embossed tactile cover that feels like bumpy dinosaur skin!
Summary: Each page has a letter of the alphabet. That letter is used as the beginning letter in the name of a dinosaur. There is a fact about each dinosaur, along with a realistic illustration.
Review: Even though this book is meant for a younger child, I definitely think that a 3rd grader could use this book for information. The facts are not too wordy. I also like that they use dictionary symbols to show the reader how to pronounce the names of the dinosaurs.
Possible In-class Uses: 1. The teacher can choose 1 dinosaur a day from the book, and youtube an appropriate video to show the students each day.
2. Students can practice writing the names of the dinosaurs in their writing journals.
Very clear and lovely illustrations. Pronunciation guides! Yay for pronunciation guides! Unusual dinosaurs- not the usual cast of ABC characters, which is extra-engaging for the jaded five-year-old who knows all the REGULAR dinosaurs already. The oversized board book is perfect for lap-reading, too.
So glad this book contains pronunciation help! My class enjoyed hearing all the dinosaurs names from A to Z. Some of them I expected to find had other dinosaurs in its place, which is great for those dinosaur focused phase most two year olds have! It is a nice one to keep around as they get older too, and might take more interest in the animals.
This is a great book many species that are not commonly known to most people. Unfortunately, many of these are very hard to pronounce. There were great snippets of information on each dinosaur unfortunately at the back of the book it would've been better to have them under each dinosaurs proper name.
my son loves this! Its a board book, nice bright pictures, no lift the flaps (which I won't check out for fear of those babies getting ripped right off) and educational! Great book for any toddler that loves dinos!
Ben and I had fun trying to pronounce the dinosaur names before we found the guide in the back. I like that the pages are simple with just a picture and a name, but if you want to learn more you can read the index.

This book is a very good source to teach preschoolers and kindergarteners the ABC's. The book contains pictures of 26 different dinosaurs which are featured using the letters of the alphabet.
