Summer in the Big Easy and everything's hot — especially Mme. LaFantary's Voodoo Night. Her chants and scents take her believers on a tour of the magic arts. But when someone falls dead, is it magic…or murder? Only three brothers — members of New Orleans' finest — can find out….
Jordan O'Reilly — The youngest, he's out to prove himself — to the force and to Camille DuPree, the woman he loved and lost six long years ago.
Liam O'Reilly — He doesn't have to wear the uniform to be a cop; he is the uniform. Honorable, in control, he's a total nonbeliever in the magic arts — and love…until he meets Simone Jones.
Zachary Doucet — The illegitimate brother is a renegade on the job, and a ladies' man in his personal life. But can he charm his ex-partner Rebecca Romero?
Ruth Glick (born 1942) is a best-selling author of healthy cookbooks and has also written dozens of romantic suspense romance novels under the pen name Rebecca York.
Ruth earned a B.A. in American Thought and Civilization from George Washington University and an M.A. in American Studies from the University of Maryland. Although she always wanted to become a writer, Glick was convinced that her lack of spelling skills meant that her goal was unattainable. As a stay-at-home mother, she took a community college course to help her choose a career. The course made it very clear that writing was her primary interest. Glick began writing articles for newspapers and magazines, but after several years decided to try writing fiction. Her first book, a kids' science fiction book, was finally purchased by Scholastic Inc..
Since then, Glick has become a highly successful author of over 50 romantic suspense and paranormal novels. Many of her novels are published under the Harlequin Intrigue line, and in June 2003, she became one of the first authors published under Berkley's new Sensation imprint. Before 1997, she often collaborated with Eileen Buckholtz and Kathryn Jenson.
Glick also is a highly regarded author of cookbooks focusing on healthy eating. She sometimes hires trained chefs to test the recipes that she creates, and makes sure that every recipe is tested at least three times before it appears in one of her cookbooks.
Glick is the head of the Columbia Writers Workshop. She and her husband, Norman Glick, live in Columbia, Maryland, where Ruth collects rocks, and enjoys cooking, walking, reading, gardening, travel, and Mozart operas. They have two grown children, Elissa and Ethan, and two grandsons (Jesse and Leo).
This book is three novellas by three different authors about three (see a pattern here) brothers who are New Orleans cops. It works as a serial and is very good. The plot and writing is seamless and getting to know each brother, and the women they come to love, is wonderful. This is pure escapist fare so don't look for anything other than entertainment.
Jordan Jordan is moonlighting as a security guard and takes an assignment that puts him at the restaurant of the love of his young life. Camille has been having a rough time getting her restaurant established and a mugging outside has made things worse. She has been hosting Thursday Voodoo ceremonies as a way to bring in extra money. It's all good until a participant drops dead, another has her throat slashed and Jordan is accused of murder. These two were kept apart as teens and now they have found each other again and no murderer is going to keep them apart.
Liam Liam is Jordan's older brother and a NOPD cop too. He knows that Jordan is innocent but a detective, Yancy, with a grudge against the O'Neill brothers is out to see him convicted. Liam partners up with Jordan's defense attorney, Simone. Simone has received evil voodoo threats and has had an attempt on her life. She is in danger and Jordan is determined to protect her, find the real killer and try to ignore the attraction for her.
Zachary Zachary is the oldest of the three brothers and the illegitimate one. He has always felt deeply that his father and brothers have barely acknowledged his existence. He is also an NOPD officer like his father and brothers. Now Liam needs his help to clear Jordan. Zachary also wants to help Jordan and he also sees it as a way to reconnect with his ex-partner, Rebecca, who is working the murders as a detective. Together, Zachary and Rebecca follow other leads and their own passions.
I've read these 3 authors in 1 books before and haven't cared for them. They are rushed and seem unrealistic. They did write very well together, though.

The second book centers around Liam O'Reilly a cop moonlighting as a security for Simone Jones, a defense attorney. Liam may not believe in Voodoo, but when a patron dies during a voodoo ceremony the two work together to find who is behind the killing. The mystery continues with book 3 "Zachary" by Patricia Rosemoor and started with "Jordan" by Rebecca York.
Ann Von Peterson continues the story and pulls us back in and makes us join in the story as Liam and Simone work through their differences and find the spark that ties them together. Originally published as an anthology in 2003.
enjoying the stories I have read by these authors. Jordan (New Orleans Magic Book 1) by Rebecca York I like the concept of this story however the characters didn’t resonate with me which made it hard to stay connected with the story. I will read the next two to see if once I have read them all I feel different
Liam (New Orleans Magic Book 2) by Ann Voss Peterson Liam is the second part in the New Orleans Magic series. I struggled to connect with part 1 and unfortunately my opinion didn’t change with this part. The concept is really good but the characters are not connecting with me. I have read other books by these authors and loved them so I will continue reading their work
Does anyone remember what these books are about, even 5 minute after they put them down? I do recall that after this book, York's name stuck in my head but that it about the extent of my memories on this one.
