Agatha Christie: Murder on the Orient Express is a 2006 point-and-click adventure game developed by AWE Productions and published by The Adventure Company for Microsoft Windows. The game is the second installment in The Adventure Company's Agatha Christie series. The setting is five years before the events in Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None, with a largely unrelated storyline. The plot follows an amateur sleuth, Antoinette Marceau, and her investigation of a murder with twelve possible suspects aboard the Orient Express, which has been blocked by an avalanche in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia during 1934. She is aided by famous detective Hercule Poirot.Murder on the Orient Express retains the main plot elements of Agatha Christie's novel of the same name. An additional ending is presented in the game which differs from the conclusion of Christie's novel. As with And Then There Were None, Christie's novel has been bundled with the game. Some reviewers of Murder on the Orient Express criticized the game because of the repetitive nature of tasks the player must complete, and also complained about the inefficient and cumbersome inventory system.
I read this book in 3 days and fell in love with it. It is so well written and the suspense is killing you every minute until the last page. I just love it and I recommend. Everyone who likes mystery needs to read that. It is the best murder mystery book I've never read.
This is one of my mother's favorites, so I always knew it was one of Christie's most famous and best murder mysteries. I never knew much more about it until I caught an episode of Doctor Who wherein they mentioned a spoiler. Rather than ruining the book for me and extinguishing the desire to read the story for myself, it intrigued me. I'm so glad I made sure to read this one rather than avoid it, assuming there wouldn't be any surprises left. There was, of course, more than one twist, and an excellent, colorful cast of characters. Christie is, as always, a master story-teller.
The start of the book was a bit slow for me. There were too many characters and it felt like there was too much information to digest. At first, I was suspicious of everyone, especially Mary and the colonel. But then, when Poirot figured out that Ratchett knew French, I was completely shocked. The ending was a real rollercoaster too. I suspected the alibis, but even that was difficult for it turned out to be way more complicated. Everyone seemed to have an alibi, and then there were more unexpected encounters with other pair of alibis. It was confusing right up until the end. Christie really nailed the ending, leaving me totally stunned. It's one of those books where everything comes together in the last chapter, and it's just mind-blowing. Well, what else could you expect?

(4/5) Funny enough, ended up wanting to read this book after watching the who-done-it Netlix show "The residence" because someone told me it’s inspired by this book. Didn’t have high expectations since it’s such an old book, but people weren’t lying when they said this is a timeless classic. The prose and the way that the plot progresses without any spoilers and you get to learn exactly what the detective is thinking/uncovering about the murder in real time is truly remarkable to be done with such ease. Genuinely wasn’t expecting the ending and I feel like I can normally predict who the killer is in murder mysteries before the end of books. Overall really enjoyed the book and it was a quick and easy read. May have to check out more of this author’s novels considering how well written this one is.
This is my second Agatha Christie book and yet again she does not disappoint. Towards the end it was getting obvious but this was when there was 50 pages left to go. The thrill was not like The ABC Murders and I personally think The ABC Murders was better. I am going to watch the film adaptation tonight and watch the characters come to life. This was an easy, fast paced and enjoyable book and probably a good introduction to Agatha Christie's novels.
This is an exceptional mystery. When I read it, I felt that it turned the whole genre upside down and shook it till it's teeth fell out. That vision aside, it is so well crafted that most people would never dream of the scenario that unfolds and who the murderer or murderers are. I loves that it packs all these people together who come from such disparate worlds, socioeconomic standings, and walks of life into this train like a "whodunit" of sardines.
The idea, the execution, the ending, I love all of it. Maybe it's a bit biased cause I've liked Agatha's other books before I read this which made me go into this book with a positive approach.
I read this book after I watched the anime: Detective Conan; and Moriarty the Patriot and I guess now I know what one of their episodes was inspired by.
I forgot how much I love Agatha Christie! Not to dis on the other writers, but there’s a reason she’s queen of mystery. I was disappointed that I didn’t get to see the stage play this year and decided to reread this one. I loved it so much!
Love this book. What can I say that hasn't been said before?
Agatha Christie peels back the characters one by one to slowly reveal to the reader and intricate network of relationships, grudges and feuds in a beautiful wintery yet cozy setting.
