SO I have thoughts :)
1st thoughts:
first of all, this was very good for like learning more about myself and what temperament i have and stuff so that was good. That being said, maybe its me hating on myself too much (its a melancholic thing idk x_x) but I feel like reading it sometimes I'd js get so discouraged cuz i feel lik my temperament sucks and she really focused like 98% on the negative traits of each temperament and it felt like mine was the worst lwky.
that being said, i mean ig that is the way i can learn most about it but still it was kinda discouraging.

other thoughts:
I felt like the way she wrote it was a lil cringe sometimes? like the content was good but the delivry was kinda outdated and cringe sometimes like u dont have to give each temperament a generic name ma'am x_X

and another one cuz why not I'm already procrastinating on school:P :
like some of the comments she included felt really like random- like uh okay you have a point ig but that's so specific like uh kinda random idk? Like being more general would probably be more useful and reach more ppl? anywho

so now i feel like I'm hating on the book but fr it wasnt bad its js it wasnt perfect- like it was good its js there was a few things i was like uh okay then- but like overall it was edifying and i did learn from it so that's what matters too lol

anywho peace out gang

Wow. Five stars. Must-read for any woman.

This is a inspirational (Christian) non-fiction book by Beverly LaHaye. I picked it up about six months ago and didn't start it until last week, but once I started it, it only took me four days to finish. That's saying a lot for non-fiction, which tends to drag for me. I seriously underlined about 25% of the book, so there is no way I could pull out my favorite quotes/passages or even give you a decent synopsis. But I will say, I think every woman ought to read this book. I'm buying a copy for my friend Toni and for my mom. I've learned more about myself, my relationship with my husband, and my God from this book than I've learned from any other book, excepting the bible.

So a synopsis. The idea is that there are four temperaments: choleric, phlegmatic, sanguine, and melancholy. Everyone has a temperament that (s)he leans toward, and most have a significant secondary. I am a san-mel. The sanguine means that I'm loud, life of the party, funny, and fun to be around. It also means I'm sarcastic, have an awful mouth, unreliable, and self-absorbed. The melancholy means that I'm analytical, a deep thinker, intelligent, and really into music and art. It also means that I tend to get stuck in really pathetic pity-parties, that I hide from problems, and that I overreact to everything. Of course, these are only a few of the many, many characteristics of each tendency, but I just wanted to give you an idea. It's CREEPY how accurate it is.

Also, there is an interesting part that talks about what it means to be in a relationship with a man who is --fill in temperament here--. That was creepily accurate too, and it really gave me profound insight into my relationship with my ex, and others.

The POINT of the book, is for you to analyze, understand, and accept your tendencies, and then do everything in your power (and everything in the power of the Holy Spirit!!) to overcome your weaknesses. It is REALLY powerful. I am a DIFFERENT person.

This book has really helped me to gain a better understanding of why I am the way that I am! The intricacies of our temperaments can be so difficult to understand; however, this book allows you to take an in-depth look into yourself, which brings about a better understanding of others. The book includes an evaluation to determine your temperament type and begins to give detailed information, in reference to the strengths and weaknesses of each temperament and temperament blend. Ultimately, it explains how each temperament was designed by God and with the help of the Holy Spirit, can be used for a greater purpose. I can’t tell you the number of times that I have had to pick up this book for a quick-reference!! Absolutely a MUST-READ!!!

When i purchased this book, it is first about knowing what temperament i have, the strengths, weaknesses and how i can improve my weakness. When i continue reading, i find that it deals also with relationships with husbands and others. Lots of great advice in the book. I highly recommend it to all Christian ladies i know. I am very impressed when it talks about how a melancholy lady treats her relationship with her bf if not controlled by the Holy Spirit. It was exactly how i treated my ex-bf and why our relationship didn't work out in the end.

Very good book. As was with her husband Tim's book, this helps Christians understand better themselves and one another -how to interact with, treat, and think about others in regard to each' temperament. Good example stories given, too. What I didn't like was that numerous perverse "Bible" versions were used in the book (which I didn't read). The LaHaye's usually use the NKJV, which isn't good, but better than others. Why use a Jehovah's Witness NWT "Bible" alongside the KJV in a book? Makes no sense to me. This book is Bible-based none the less.

I teach a Tell My Daughters class for the church I attend. We are currently reading this book. The ladies are enjoying it. We laugh and try to disown temperaments. This book is very thought-provoking and on point with our behaviors. I tried to stop with the test of temperaments and the explanations of strengths and weaknesses of particular subjects, but the ladies wanted to continue. I look forward to the journey.

I like how she applied the temperaments to different areas, like how to identify them in others, what they are like as spouses, and what they are like in churches.

Read in 2013, purchased from Christian bookshop at Bayfair Mall in San Leandro, CA

Some features/ideas from this book:
-4 humors - Hippocrates (melancholic, phlegmatic, sanguine, choleric)
-Bible character studies
-gratitude

Temperament can't be changed in the flesh, but when guided by the Holy Spirit, our weaknesses leave us open to God's strength. I'm a melancholic with a side of phlegmatic and my weaknesses are negativity, self-centeredness, and fear. With God's help, I can be thankful, serve others, and walk daily with the Lord.
