There's not a man Rachel Westover can't tame. Or at least transform from a sloppy, sports-loving, self-absorbed male into the perfect mate.

Then she meets Garret Kelly, aka The Wild Man. Talk about a challenge--in a gorgeous package, no less. Can her behavior-modificationtechniques take on a guy this set in his rumpled--and surprisingly irresistible--ways? Rachel's hormones, er, ambitions, are jumping at the chance.

If she succeeds in domesticating Garret, she gets her own TV show. If she fails... Well, failure isn't an option. Sure, he's more resistant than she expected. And with holding pleasure as punishment affects her so much, she's abandoned that strategy. But she's determined one of them is going to their knees. She just hopes it isn't her!

When hero first sees heroine eating a chocolate covered strawberry and moaning, he comes up and says "I'll have what she's having." Fine, cute, whatever. BUT, when the chocolate is dripping down her arm, he takes this STRANGER'S hand and LICKS up her wrist and fingers. Whatever the opposite of "your kink" is, this is my opposite. I've seen too many people in public restrooms leave without washing their hands. I know fantasy world and all but this wouldn't leave my mind.

Also, the heroine is rude and not loving or gaga over the hero's dog until the ending where she seems to move to tolerating. I don't think I need to explain why I was not a fan of her.

The whole man-taming behavioral psychology "playfully" compared with dog training joking wasn't fun or funny to me and each chapter starting with the Dear Abby-esque letters from the heroine's magazine column made me cringe more than laugh. This book flirted and romanced sexism more than love between the couple for me.

Enjoyable if predictable Blaze romance
4 stars

Popular columnist Rachel Westover is proud of her moniker The Man Tamer - there isn't a sports-loving, self-absorbed, slobby male that she can't turn into the perfect mate. But then she meets Ozzy lacrosse star Garret "Wild Man" Kelly and all bets are off. The gorgeous, rumpled man presents quite a challenge but Rachel never said her behaviour modification techniques were easy.

As an extra incentive, if she succeeds at domesticating Garret, she will land herself her very own TV show. The more time she spends with Garret, the more she begins to find his boyish, sports-loving ways charming and irresistible - so much so she's abandoning all her strategies. But she's determined that one of them will end up tamed - she just hopes it's not her.

This was an enjoyable offering from the Blaze line with some enjoyable characters, good sex and fun situations.

The plot itself is fairly predictable in that you know where the majority of the conflict is going to come from, although what happens for the majority of the book isn't by any means formulaic or dull. The premise is interesting and different enough to make it stand out from many other books in the line.

Rachel is a great heroine - strong and sassy yet believably insecure and personable. She's really someone you can identify with or aspire to. Garret is equally a good hero - masculine, rugged and a real man's man but with enough heart to make him irresistible. My only complaint is that with Garret being an Ozzy, we are subjected to quite a few awful clichés in his habits and speech for the first part of the book - but that settles down soon enough and it no longer becomes a noticeable issue.

The sex scenes are fun, sexy and plentiful and definitely help the book live up to Blaze's tagline of a scorching hot sexy read.

Overall, this is a well-written, enjoyable book that is certainly worth a read. It may be slightly predictable, but the fun characters, interesting premise and great sex really make up for it. 4 stars.

That was my first book from this author and it might not be the last.
Both the tone and characters were decidedly modern, simple and realistic. I liked that all characters were a bit flawed, though seemed very normal with no extravagant trauma or behavior, they could be slightly irritating at times, but like normal people can be when they do not behave like we/I think they should.
The plot was very simple, and rather predictible. However it did not matter, as it allowed characters to show their changes and developments, their maturing into a meaningful relationship that neither of them was used to and it just worked out fine.
My small qualms: as a Harlequin, it's a short book and it felt like it could have been more developed and made into something more, even though it was not lacking as some other short books can be. And 5 hot scenes within this short book felt a bit too much - they allowed to demonstrate the growing intimacy between the characters, but it took a bit too much space in the description of their interactions at first. Last, I did not really like the advices taken from Rachel's column at the beginning of each chapter, whose writing did not strike me as either very insightful or funny.

The Man Tamer was a good read with hot, sexy scenes. And a lovely romance about how opposites attract.
