Jaded and hurting from a recent breakup, Larry's not exactly having the time of his life in Vegas for his best friend's wedding. But his luck begins to change at the Love Me Tender Wedding Chapel, where The King not only marries his friends, but takes on the challenge of teaching Larry to Viva Las Vegas and enjoy some Burning Love.
A part of the 2009 Daily Dose Set, To Have and to Hold, which includes 30 M/M romance stories providing a glimpse of the many forms of love: love at first sight or a love for the ages, wedding bells or engagements, or that inexplicable something that makes you think "I do," the men in these stories are all touched by its spell.
D.G. Parker spends her days posing as a mild-mannered hospital administrator in upstate New York. Her alter ego has been reading and writing voraciously since childhood and dreams of one day publishing the “Great American Novel.” She’s taken her pen name from the very quotable Dorothy Parker, who reminds us all that “You can lead a horticulture, but you can’t make her think.”
Larry is heartbroken over his ex-lover. He is in Las Vegas for the wedding of his best friend, and find all the fake cheer depressing. Luckily for him, Elvis the wedding official is there to teach him to enjoy life again.
I actually enjoyed the story, and found Elvis a bit mysterious, even a bit magical. His enjoyment of Las Vegas in all its facets, was contagious. It is not a romance, but even that was fitting, as Larry is no way ready for it.
reread 6/7/2014 still think this wil have change of events every time i read but nope still the same. Larry is in las Vegas for his bf wedding his comes across elvis, they have a night together then just deserts him. I wanted more but what to do.
Larry isn't having any fun in Vegas. He's been dragged there for the wedding of his best friend Roger and he's miserable. Despite being happy for his friend, Larry wants only to find a bar and drink himself into oblivion to drown his sorrows after being dumped yet again. He doesn't understand why he isn't good enough for any of the guys he has dated, and he's wallowing in his misery and pissed off at the world. Roger and Rene's wedding at the Love Me Tender Wedding Chapel is so over the top, and so very quintessentially "Vegas," that Larry can't help but laugh, especially at The King who is officiating the ceremony. An Elvis impersonator with long sideburns and a hairy chest...and an overly impressive bulge near his rocking pelvis. This Elvis has some special plans in store for Larry after the wedding, and he intends to help Larry start to live again.
This is a unique story that mixes the glitz and shiny facade of Vegas with a man who has become seriously jaded with life. It gets a bit over the top, both with the size of Elvis's endowments and the sex that follows. Imagine a normal, every day guy going off with an Elvis impersonator he knows nothing about (not even his real name) and gets to know in a very intimate way. Without a condom. So yeah, you need to suspend disbelief quite a bit with this story but it was funny and there is a message about taking a gamble on life, embracing and living life to its fullest. I couldn't help but laugh out loud at several points of this story, both at the silliness of the wedding itself and the details provided with the Burning Love sex scene. "It took him a few tries to convince his sphincter to join the party, but at last he felt the burning, stretching sensation of the large intruder pushing into his body." This story is far from realistic, but it's a humorous take on "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas". Larry will definitely never be the same again.
Larry's in Vegas to support his BF who is getting married, by Elvis no less. After the wedding Elvis asks him out and they end up in a casino where Elvis gives him some money and non-gambler Larry has a blast losing it all. Then they go into the dessert and Larry talks a bit about his break-up with his ex and Elvis tells him to get over it and gives him a little incentive. Larry wakes up in the dessert alone and his friends find him and he's ready to start over. I had issues. Ummm, I have problems with guys with freakishly huge organs and guys who take it with apparently no problem. And he left him in the freaking desert!!! I've watched CSI, that's dangerous even if he did tell the friends where to find him. It was just kind of weird and obviously there was no love story between Elvis and Larry (I'm pretty sure his name's not Elvis) and was more of an anonymous fuck that got Larry's self-confidence back. So I didn't hate it, didn't love it. There was some funny parts that made me smile though.
