Oppgradert fra tre til fire stjerner på gjenlesing. Denne gangen ble jeg nødt til å lese den litt mer nøye fordi den var pensum, sist var av interesse da den kom ut. Kanskje den ble litt for detaljert den gangen? Uansett: En tett opplevelse, med ekstremt mange referanser til primær- og sekundærlitteratur, litteraturlista alene kan fylle et par års lesing (riktignok for den noe spesielt interesserte). Jeg vil tro det er nødvendig å ha litt basiskunnskap på plass om i alle fall noen av disse ideologiene for å kunne få særlig utbytte av boka, den kan bli litt vel spesialisert, med en flora av begreper for å forstå både fenomenet totalitarisme og totalitarismens forskjellige ansikter. Men boka er både velskrevet og interessant.

A fine introduction in Norwegian to the major 'totalitarian' ideologies of our time. Fascism, National Socialism, Communism and Islamism.

One point of critique is probably the 'blind spot' that develops in such an account, that is the modern liberal western democracy. Is that not also in a sense 'totalitarian'? In the sense that the system is convinced that it is the pinacle of evolution. That it represents the truth and nothing but the truth, and that millions of people can die in the on-going 'war on terror' to secure this notion of 'freedom'.

Ако следва да се даде някаква оценка за книгата, то тя би била положителна единствено за последните две глави, в които се усети задълбоченост на изследването. През останалите пасажи (ориентировъчно, тези преди 250-260 страница) бяха по-скоро повърхностни очерци на 4-те разглеждани тоталитарни режима. Често, авторът си позволяваше да сложи даден цитат, а в следващите редове да го преразкаже, не за да го анализира, а за да го пресъздаде само и единствено със свои думи.

Книгата би била подходяща за всеки, който тепърва се сблъсква с историята на разглежданите режими и който досега не е бил запознат с линията на техните идеологически разбирания. Навярно и хора, които имат по-сериозни познания в тази област, биха я намерили за полезна, но към това си твърдения подхождам със сериозни резерви.

Чудесно изследване на четири от тоталитарните идеологии от проф. Сьоренсен. Разглежда задълбочено идеите на националсоциализма, фашизма, комунизма и ислямизма по един увлекателен и същевременно научен начин. Имам само леки забележки към превода на Калина Тодорова. И незнайно защо на последната страница под заглавието е изписано "роман". Но това са леки кахъри на фона на тази великолепна монография. Препоръчвам.
