This is a hilarious little YA book about a boy who makes a wish upon a shooting star: "I want to make kids laugh—but not get into trouble." However, the star was gone before he got to the "not get into trouble" part, which is when his troubles began as he found himself cursed with THE SUPER BURP.

Each time he feels the Super Burp come on, he belches loudly and then begins to do strange things that do, indeed, make kids laugh. And get him into trouble. In this episode, the biggest trouble occurs when he is invited to another kid's birthday party—a kid he doesn't like and who doesn't like him. But his mother insisted George be invited along with the rest of Louis's class.

The party is held at a water park, where George's curse makes regular appearances and George gets regularly into trouble, especially with the birthday boy Louis and his mother who think he's creating havoc on purpose. But George has kept his curse a secret to all but his best friend, Alex.

This is just one of the books in the George Brown Class Clown series. If all are as delightfully funny as this one, they should be engaging reading for any youngster.

Remember reading this as a kid and loving it. Re-read it (I'm 20) and it still holds up. Great book and definitely hilarious at times

reading in class

We liked the idea of the super burp. But the ending was not to our satisfaction. Will George ever be free from burps? And the ABC gum?

Mom review for 7.5 year old: Funny and good read for a 7-8 year old. Of course, the main humor is based around "the super burp" which is right in line with most 7-8 year old boy humor. My son thought it was hilarious. It did use the word "butt," which we don't allow him to say and I made sure he understood that pinching someone's rear end is never an option, but a good read for him. I'm sure he'll want to gobble up all the others!

The key component of this book is a prolonged, powerful burp. Really? Yes, elementary-aged boys love burps, but I think we need to give them a little more credit. Stick with Frindle, Henry Huggins, Harry Pottet, or How to Eat Fried Worms.
