Though lacking much authentic Welsh blood, Kim Lawrence comes from English-Irish stock. She was born and brought up in North Wales. She returned there when she married, and her sons were both born on Anglesey, an island off the coast. Though not isolated, Anglesey is a little off the beaten track, but lively Dublin, which Kim loves, is only a short ferry ride away. Today they live on the farm her husband was brought up on. Welsh is the first language of many people in this area and Kim's husband and sons are all bilingual she is having a lot of fun, not to mention a few headaches, trying to learn the language! She is a keen gardener and cook and enjoys running often on the beach, as living on an island the sea is never very far away. She is usually accompanied by her Jack Russell, Sprout don't ask, it's long story!

With small children, the unsocial hours of nursing didn't look attractive so encouraged by a husband who thinks she can do anything she sets her mind to, Kim tried her hand at writing. Always a keen Mills & Boon reader, it seemed natural for her to write a romance novel. In 1995, she published her first novels and now she can't imagine doing anything else.

This one is pretty cute. The h has had a prior relationship bad break up when she found out her live-in boyfriend was cheating on her as she was miscarrying in hospital.

(Her BFF walked in on the cheating slime slurper in the h's bed with his side piece and then the nematode had the gall to show up at hospital and act like he was concerned. The h's BFF outed him and the h dumped him really hard and fast.)

The H isn't doing so well either, he just found out that the man-eating 30 yr old Jezebel who seduced him when he was 19 actually had his baby.

The Jezebel died and the Jezebel's current sleazy husband found out the daughter she conned him into believing was his is really the H's.

So being a Genuine Sleazy HP Secondary Character, he dumps the daughter on the H, while making up a story to the 13 yr old that the H is demanding custody and has no choice but to give her up - in reality he told the H that he can't wait to get rid of the girl and the H wasn't too pleased about that.

Needless to say, the 13 year old is NOT HAPPY with this situation and she isn't afraid to show it.

The H is really a decent guy, tho he has a bit of a temper, so he is trying to figure out the Dad skillz to helping hither fore unknown daughters adjust to new lives and not getting very far with it.

The H and h meet up when the H's daughter runs off into the woods and the H is trying to catch her, but he gets ankle bitten by the h's cranky dog instead.

There is the patented HP instant attraction and soon the H and h are living together, after the h's cottage catches fire, but the h is aces at helping the H establish a better relationship with his daughter and soon it is all about Happy Families.

It is very clear that the H is very into the h, but she is very dithery about romance after her last experience. Even tho she is head over heels in love with the H, she just can't believe that he would ever love her.

Eventually the h winds up preggers and decides she has to move back to her own home, cause she knows the H will ask her to marry him once he finds out about the baby and she only wants to marry a man who is actually in love with her.

The H's daughter has established a bond with him by this point, so when the h tries to leave, the girl is really quick to call her dad to stop the h.

After an attempted verbal smackdown from the h's BFF, which the H stops by declaring his love for the h, the H manages to get the h to stop dithering long enough to listen to him tell her he loves her.

The switch finally clicks for the h that the H is just as in love as she is and we leave them happily planning the wedding for the pink sparkly HEA.

This one is very cute and the banter back and forth between the H and h was funny. I really liked this H, he was really a nice man, tho he did do the HP Alpha Glower and Threaten Revenge bits well too.

The h was sweet and kinda dipsy at times, while the H's daughter had a great backbone. As the daughter's relationship progressed with the H, she provided a lot of the entertainment and more than made up for the h's little dithery foible moments.

Overall this is a fun, fluffy read with not a whole lot of drama outside of the H and his daughter's relationship, so save this for when you need a little laugh and a quiet day at the HP office.

I really liked Fleur the first 60% of the book, she was strong, she didn't take anyones ish, she gave back as good as she got..but then when feelings got involved she became a headcase.
Fleur was left by her cheating fiancee while she was losing their baby in the hospital which made her not very trusty of men, and then one day when she is walking her dog she literally stumbles upon Antonio.
Antonio is rich, powerful, gorgeous, and now a father of a 13 year old daughter who hates him..
They form this lust filled relationship but don't act on it until Fleur's house catches on fire and he invites her to stay with them..and the so the story goes..

An absorbing story full of surprises with every character on a growth trajectory and impressing each other in the process. So many dramatic challenges: the surprise arrival of the unknown teenage daughter, the rescue in the weed-choked lake, the fire, even the little rescue dog, and more .... each delivered with realistic intensity. I was impressed with the writing skills displayed in this book. Every scene in this book is outstanding.

Antonio's gorgeousness was appreciatively described and his complex nature laid out clearly. He is determined to deal with his newly discovered teen daughter, and one can only admire that determination. (He is a great hero in so many ways and none of them seem to be from a template used before.) Fleur may be naive and wounded, but she has the strength of a survivor. (Fleur inspires one to keep hanging on, keep finding ways to enjoy life no matter what -- so she's a heroine to admire and cheer on.) When these two join up to plunge into cold lake waters to save a life, it may not be apparent to them that it is fated, but the reader can't miss it.

Another reviewer wrote that this book was too short, and I agree. I adored these characters and their successes so much. The back cover was reached too soon!

I gave this the highest rating because I could not put the book down. Thank you for a great escape with vivid characters!

After two goodie in a row, I was really disappointed in this book.
It just wasn’t KL style at all; I usually like her books, not this time…
First of all the name and summary doesn’t relate to the content at all, it hinted to a different story altogether in my opinion, and I really found myself losing focus as the story progressed. And most of the time I was confused who was telling the story Antonio or fleur, though the dialogue was good between them, it really didn't compensate the fact that the story was lacking the wow factor.

I'm once again on the fence about this one. The hero is basically in love with the heroine and wants more than the relationship they have, so the hero decides he can force her to marry him if he gets her pregnant without the heroines knowledge. In a way it's kind of kinky thinking that a man could love or want a woman that much but in another way it's highly disturbing because lets face it, women have rights and should decide who they are with and if they have a baby.

Plot and dialogue were weak. Emotions were strong. H’s newly discovered daughter was a character in her own right, not a plot moppet.

Reread and liked better, plot was weak, dialogue good
