Really helpful guide through the whole process from thinking about how to write your cover letter and prepare a cv or resume, how to address the items listed in the position description with your letter, the phone interview, and the on campus interview. Chapter on giving a presentation, responding to the job offer, and one person's story of an eight month job search. Many practical tips, all written from the perspective of folks that have been on actual hiring committees. Geared more toward large university libraries than smaller colleges.

Not so useful for Australian academic librarians, but very very interesting to see the kind of hiring process occurring in the States, and perhaps what we might have to go through in future. In particular, the possible interview questions were helpful, and just as relevant to this hemisphere.

Great, articulate book! It clearly outlines the process and provides several things to consider as you go through the process, up to and including negotiations. I learned a lot and will probably re-consult it once I get a little further!
