About the author

Matthew Abram Groening is an American cartoonist, television producer and writer from Portland, Oregon.

Groening is best known as the creator of The Simpsons. He is also the creator of Futurama and the author of the weekly comic strip Life in Hell. Groening distributed Life in Hell in the book corner of Licorice Pizza, a record store in which he worked.

He made his first professional cartoon sale to the avant-garde Wet magazine in 1978. The cartoon is still carried in 250 weekly newspapers.

¡Ay, caramba! Now this is a book that is not for the ‘non-Simpson fan’.

The Simpsons Uncensored Family Album is a detailed memoir of the All-American nuclear family meticulously assembled by the great Marge Simpson herself! This is the ultimate collection of photographs, newspaper clippings & bizarre memorabilia giving rare glimpses in to the evolution of the Simpsons family. This scrapbook, which mimics a family album, reveals some very intimate personal history of the Simpsons clan and the people around them and will be a visual treat to every fan of this epic TV show.

As a true fan of this show, the family trees of the Bouvier’s and the Simpsons provided with in this cute funny book alone was worth taking it up for reading. Homer’s fourth grade report card; a copy of a forged letter of absence that Homer wrote to his school principal posing as his father; photographs from Marge’s childhood, Homer & Marge’s college days & their prom night & graduation days; memorabilia from their marriage event & a copy of certificate of marriage from ‘Lucky 7 Wedding Chapel’; Marge’s letter to the legendary Ringo Starr; rare photographs of Bart, Lisa & Maggie etc… are some of the most cherished moments from this book.

This hilarious collection of Simpsons memorabilia is highly recommended for all fans of this slightly eccentric & dysfunctional family.

So! Ive been in a Simpsons rewatch kick recently.


.... And by recently I mean that the longest break I've taken from this sitcom since I first started watching was a month.And that's because I had binge watched every season. Seriously, not a week goes when the Simpsons don't play at my house.

I don't often find shows that I LOVE and when I do find them I combine them with my primary/favourite interest : reading. if I'm reading a book about a series please know it means that series has my heart.

All this to say that the Simpsons family album is a WONDERFUL read for Simpson fans. Not only do you learn dates of important events (Marge and Homers marriage at September 29, Barts birth on April 1) but also it has so many references to episodes! Homer and Marges prom, Homer getting a camera and becoming a paparazzi, Barts birth, and also some momentos of early spring field and Marge and Homer as little kids (I audibly aweeed when I saw lil marges first book with the commentary that "it taught me valuable lessons about patience, growth and hope")!

Only reason for one star removal is that I could do with more commentary added!

Although not a "hard-core" Simpsons fan, it might be one of my favorite television shows. I remember watching the Tracey Ullman Show and looking forward to the cartoon intervals. And then there was (is?) Life in Hell. Who can't relate to that?

It is probably no surprise that there is a series of Simpsons books, sort of like comic books, but not really. The Uncensored Family Album looks to have been put together by a team of writers and artists. Still, it was not disappointing. A lot of thought (and humor) has gone into the album and it reflects what photographs and strange ephemera we might ourselves save for posterity.

My favorite part is the inside front and back covers, which depict The Simpson Family Tree and The Bouvier Family Tree. It is like the 500 arhats in the Buddhist temples. Each face and name is different. Is Homer really distantly related to Charles Montgomery Burns?

Now this is what I call funny, but just beware, you will not understand some parts of this if you are not a hardcore simpsons fan, this book has basically just been ripped straight out of the TV show and that’s good, it has humor, it has great illustrations, it’s the simpsons, what more can I say?

i am a huge simpson's fan(i have been one since i was 6)but,this book is by far the best.this book is good for a good laugh(s).if you are a simpson's fan and have not read it here are 3 words of advice, READ IT NOW!

Not sure why I've been running across Simpsons books at the library recently, but I'm happy I have. They're a nice little distraction for a brief period of time, and there's a lot of care put into these books. Be sure to check out the inside covers.

A book that attempts to put the Simpsons' life in chronological order based on the show--Abe (grandpa) moving to America, Homer and Marge meeting--although there was a section in there which appeared to take place in the early 1990s with Homer in a grunge band and Marge going to college, which I do not remember at ALL. Must've missed that episode.

Me encantan los Simpsons. Y este álbum familiar es una joya que casi no se encuentra en las librerias hoy en día. Que suerte que mi hermano no lo quería más y me lo regaló.
Para los fanáticos de esta familia nuclear estadounidense (como la llama Matt Groening), este libro da detalles que no salen en la serie sobre las vidas, en especial, de Homero y Marge. Se centra un poco en sus historias antes de que nacieran Bart, Lisa y Maggie. Si sos fanático de Los Simpsons tenés que poseer este libro para seguir adentrándote en los pormenores de la familia estadounidense más universal que existe en la televisión.
