Rate this book
Combining a positive and practical approach to the study of marriage and family life with a manageable amount of sociological theory and research citations, this text is centered on the theme of enhancing intimacy within marriage and the family. This is a great book for anyone! I recommend this book for people to read before they get married so they can understand what marriage and family relationships are about. I recommend this book to anyone that is already married and wants to strengthen their marriage.

The textbook is well informative but certain parts seem to be more biased by contrasting men and women in a variety of things and seems to constructed, but the technical portions of different love styles, dating concepts, marriage concepts and other things were very well in precision on simplicity. I'm thankful for the book I've brought but it does raise question a little, that maybe I should have reviewed my options a little more but in all I do think the Marriage and Family: The Quest for Intimacy is a good book to possess just think there could be more improvement and less biased propaganda and something not seeming as its from feminist studies but more equilibrium without the assumption as men are more so batters or brutes, I've also notice that theirs a great deal proportion of accusations that make it seem like almost every thing is rape, assault or molestation (wasn't feeling those sections as much). Sincerely, John Shelton Jones

This was a good informational book. It acted as a textbook for my family relations class. I learned a lot and was grateful for all the references to studies conducted on the topics. Some of my preconceived notions about families changed and so changed my belief in family diversities. I gave this book 4 stars because I found it biased sometimes.

As far as textbooks go, this one was pretty good. I read it for BYUI FAML160. It didn't really go into depth, but the information was useful and factual.

If I had one complaint, I thought the graphs and figures were not very useful or clear, but there weren't too many of those, and they were used as a visual of the text information, so they weren't really needed to begin with.

Had to read for a college class. Absolutely loved what I learned. I’m not a statistic person so that part distracted a lot but it a great book and has opened my eyes to so much that I would’ve probably never thought about before now

It is difficult to rate this textbook. It certainly isn't comparable to the novels or poetry I read. Marriage and family relations are not subjects I am especially interested in studying, nor are they particularly engaging in the ways that literature can be. However, this textbook did give me a good overview of marriage and family relationships. The writing was straightforward and easy to understand for the most part. At times there seemed to be a conservative bias, though perhaps it was somewhat warranted given the research studies cited regarding marriage and happiness. The section on rape and sexual assault was very disappointing. In sum, this book is probably average.

It was OK. I didn't adopt this text but I have no problems with it. It just didn't say, "This is the one" to me
