KC and her friend Marshall are watching the fourth of July fireworks with the president of the United States when they see smoke and sparks in the distance. It's more fireworks, but they are not part of the holiday plan. They're coming from the FBI Building! Is it just a prank? Or are these fireworks masking a bigger mystery . . . and a capital crime? From the Trade Paperback edition.
Ron Roy has been writing books for children since 1974. He is the author of dozens of books, including the popular A to Z Mysteries®, Calendar Mysteries, and Capital Mysteries. When not working on a new book, Ron likes to teach tricks to his dog Pal, play poker with friends, travel, and read thrilling mystery books.
KC is really sensitive to every detail. The findings of the time difference between Washington D.C. and London and the Ten Most-wanted is just terrific!
I read the next 4 over 2 nights. Enjoying the series of adventures the President’s stepdaughter and her friend get into. Here are numbers 6,7,9, and 10. I read 8 first out of order.
This was my “just for fun” read for February 2012.
What I liked about the book: I really like all the books by Ron Roy. They are a great way to introduce young readers to mysteries. His original mystery series (A to Z Mysteries) is very popular with my younger students. This is a quick easy read – great for helping students to practice their critical thinking skills. It is a great read aloud for the classroom or bedtime. It would also work well with a social studies lesson on the nation’s capital.
What I didn’t like about the book: As with all the books I’ve read by this author, I liked it all!
Recommended for 2nd grade and up (though would as a 1st grade read aloud.)
#6 in the Capital Mysteries series, the story starts out on the mall in Washington, D.C. during the fireworks display on the 4th of July. After the fireworks are over, KC, Marshall & President Thornton see fireworks shooting out of the FBI building! The President thinks its an accident until a list of people from the Witness Protection Program turns up missing and threats are made to these people in hiding! Who's behind these crimes and why? Check out this book to find out these questions and more!
This is another interesting installment in the Capital Mysteries series by Ron Roy. We just moved to Virginia and our girls are eager to visit the places we've read about in this series. The stories are a bit far fetched, but entertaining nonetheless.
this book is about a boy and a girl that want to find out how the fireworks got out marshal the boy and kc the girl want to see how the fireworks got out would they find out stay toun to see i totaly recommend this book and thank u
I liked it. It's about a person fires rockets out of the FBI. They think it's the guard at the FBI, but the figure out it's the guy who works late on Friday night. Then they catch him instead of the guard.
It was a very good mystery. So far, I've read all the Capitol Mysteries up to number 6. This one. I've also read all the A to Z Mysteries by the same author, at least two times.
