Cosmic Crashes: The Incredible Story of the Ufos That Fell to Earth
Since the '40s, under cover of utmost secrecy, the British government has retrieved the remains of a number of crashed UFOs & dead alien crews. This book reveals top secret information on alien autopsies, UFO crashes & the deaths of those who get too close to the truth.
Review: This book satisfies neither skeptics nor believers. It claims military & government involvement in the recovery of crashed or landed UFOs. Nothing is substantiated. Redfern uncovers vague official documents proving nothing. 1st-hand witnesses have nothing besides their accounts. The strongest evidence is usually speculation of why the military apparently lied. The best or most interesting sources of information are hearsay--2nd-hand interviews from others. The photos offer no evidence. There are no photos of scorched landing marks, none of unknown metallic objects, not even a blurry photo of something in the sky. As far as catering for believers, the accounts are superficial & only go so far as accusations about where the crashed UFOs & alien bodies are kept. We learn nothing new about these aliens or their reason for being here. Thus the accounts are boring & unenlightening. The 1st chapter suggests Marilyn Monroe & JFK were murdered because of their desire to spill the beans on the UFO phenomenon. The lack of proof in this chapter sets the tone for the book.

Michael Miley has the most interesting library I've ever explored, If he opened a bookstore, I'd want to buy half of his stock. We grew up in the same town, lived together, worked together, so our overlapping interests are in part the result of the dialectics of influence. I may have contributed to getting him involved in history and politics. He certainly contributed to getting me involved in the study of world religions, parapsychology and the occult.
In order to maintain this most precious friendship since his move to California, either he or I go to visit the other regularly. My visits to his home usually occur in the fall. Although he may take off a couple of days for us to spend time with his brother Tom at his place in the Sierras, usually he spends the days of my visits working. I spend the time exploring, cooking meals for us and reading. The search for books to read from his library is always a delight.
At home, I usually read serious non-fiction, mostly mainline stuff in a variety of fields. At Michael's home I explore the fringes: conspiracy theories, cryptozoology, alternative histories, parapsychology, psychopharmacology, ufology and the like.
Redfern's Cosmic Crashes was one of the books that occupied a day visiting Michael in Sonoma. It's a quick read, filled with startling claims. Unfortunately, the claims Redfern makes are very poorly substantiated, if substantiated at all. This is definitely not the book to recommend to someone who is skeptical about UFO encounters. It was, however, good enough for someone pretty familiar with the UFO genre.

Largely dwells on alleged UFO crashes in the UK. I had no idea that it was so busy here in the UK with downed flying saucers!
