This series is getting more and more like a Harlequin romance novel. If that is your kind of thing, you might like this series.

Kaya. Sigh. She used to be a strong character before she met Kyohei, but now she is deliberately trying to sabotage her own career and promotion just so she can be closer to Kyohei. Ick. And Kyohei is even more of a jerk than usual; he waxes hot and cold, which only leaves Kaya feeling confused, and ends up leaving her for a month just because he wants to, apparently. And he hasn't stopped seeing other women, although Kaya seems to think that she can only be with Kyohei. Plus Kyohei keeps telling Kaya that she belongs to him, and I just find that repellent.

I'll probably continue with the series, at least through the next volume, to see if it gets any better, but as of right now, my verdict is ick.

I didn't think it was possible but I liked this book less than volume 2. I just found the protagonist's attitude to be unbearable and I hate how rushed things are. With how things are going, I don't know if I'm going to finish this series. I don't want to dnf it because I already have all the books but I'm not enjoying this series whatsoever so far.

There's a little more tension in volume 3 which I usually don't like, but I'm okay with it because it adds needed tension. I do think the ML pushes the FL too much and the FL chases after the ML too much, (as much as I like a submissive protagonist, she's a bit much). She needs to have an upper hand, I hope to see that in the future.

I do like how everything wraps up and the cliffy is a good one!

!! More of like a 2.5 / 5 // I’ll be leaving the same review on volumes 2-7 as I read them all in one day !!

Quite an enjoyable series tbh, but definitely won’t be a favourite. It was nice to read something more adult for once, though I did find myself kind of getting bored at times as the main character just monologues to herself a lot. I liked how it started to go in the last 2 volumes tho, super interesting, just sad it ended so openly!!

In this volume our vampire boss and secretary are separated (sort of) and our hero realized that what he was feeling was not heartburn after all.

Shenanigans ensue in this volume I am sure … though almost a week later I don't honestly remember the specifics. Rating for the love I have for this series and not objectively based on this volume per se.

Ah well - it's my rating so I can do what I want I guess.

Whew! First read of 2022 all finished and it is…. *squints a little* …softcore vampire porn. Okay. That checks out. Do you ever feel like you’re so on the nose you’ve turned into a parody of yourself? Yeah. Okay. Yeah.

In any case, I absolutely loved this volume. Kaya has absolutely zero self-respect and it is just so compelling. There are multiple points where someone is like “Hey, Kaya, here’s an opportunity to advance your career” and she’s like “B-but that takes away my time to be Kyohei’s secretary!!1!”. I’m not being snarky or facetious I just genuinely think it’s delightful. She’s just so dumb! I genuinely adore the ‘devoted virgin protag who has zero brain to speak of’ archetype. This is primarily because I am naught but God’s brainless virgin character, in this little story we call “life”.

But it does call into question— would I act this stupid over vampire dick? No. Probably not. Maybe? I don’t think so. Totally no. Perhaps? Uh. I’m going to try to get to the bottom of this in the next two volumes

I really enjoyed this. He is an alphahole and he has got his fangs in her. It seems like the new president she is working for might have feelings for her so I do hope she gets with him in the end. I’m all in to the toxic bs, I’m not gonna lie, but for the finale I want some to really appreciate her not begrudge it

So Kaya may have given in to her feelings and decided to be the best secretary and blood donor to her boss, Kyohei Tohma, that she can and deal with the fact that he can only see her as a tasty food source, but having to work at the company Erde (seeing that name in a German translation of the Japanese manga is just grinworthy - it's the German word for earth) and being Kyohei's allround factotum makes her become a total workaholic even more than before - so much so that the big business people decide that she is indispensible to Erde and Director Kyouhei has been dealing with her loss extremely well (because SHE has been handling all the details of his work at night and the secretary pool at the company has no idea of course).

Defeated by her own work ethic! I loved the dilemma and I love when Kaya has her legs-apart fighting stance when she decides on or curses things. However it does lead to her having a breakdown after hearing that what she only wanted to finish up so she could be Kyouhei's secretary full time has lead to a job elsewhere.

Kyohei on the other hand, is finally admitting to himself that whatever he may say to her or others, he really desires her and he is jealous of any time she spends NOT concentrating on him. In other words he gets majorly territorial on the one hand (and admits it), on the other hand his pride makes it very hard to feel crazy and tension because of a puny human! He actually tells her that, too.

And then there's her boss at Erde who is a good-looking, nice guy who deeply appreciates the flawless work she does and starts to look at her as desireable when he realises the undercurrents when Kaya and Kyohei are in the same room. He owns a cat (and has a different pair of eyeglasses in every chapter ^^).

When things go so far, that Kaya is transferred to Erde for good and they tell her she has a one-year contract there, Kyouhei takes steps to let her keep her pride as a secretary but open other possiblities to return to him: he strikes out on his own, founding his own investment company (and because of his pride tries to take a leave of abstinence from her - and of course he doesn't tell her). But he's already so far gone in his trust, though he doesn't admit that, that he tells her that he couldn't handle contacting her without taking her away at once.

Basically, if you don't mind a proud vampire who even has some reason for his alpha behaviour and a girl who has decided to totally follow him and her love for him although she doesn't expect him to love her back the way she does, then you'll have a story of a slow change in this type of man and a girl who always does her best in an honest way and won't let him run roughshod over her values.

I adored the end scene of the main story in this volume where they have just made love in the new empty office of his new company where he told her he was building a new company so she was able to come to him for good and cut the ties with Tohma and not look ungrateful, etc (that's one of the clever ways the mangaka shows that Kyouhei accepts her personality and will go out of his way to make what he wants palatable to her so that she doesn't lose her sense of self-worth) - and then of course he says she should start right away. And she says "No." Firmly. Totally certain. Because she wants to leave everything shipshape and that's the way she works and is. And instead of flying into a temper he is reluctantly amused and decides he'd rather seduce her into changing her mind (and she doesn't as we learn in the next volume).

My Thoughts:

Kaya has been working at Kyohei's place as his midnight secretary for a month when this volume starts. It seems he has a habit of interrupting her while she's working so he can feed. Kaya is extremely busy and while she's ready to go back to Tohma so that she can work on getting back to being Kyohei's executive secretary, they both seem to be as happy as they can be with the current situation. Kyohei, though could be happier. That man really doesn't like to share.

Kaya is impatient with trying to get back to Tohma for work. Especially when Masaki and the president of Erde want to offer her a permanent position as the office manager at Erde. Kaya tries to make herself seem dispensable at Erde and indispensable at Tohma as Kyohei's secretary, but it backfires and she ends up making herself look like an even better employee. Kyohei apparently knew what she was up to the whole time. He even tells her to wait for him and believe in him that he'll take care of things. He can't believe that words like that came out of his own mouth, but Kaya tries her hardest to be patient. Then Kyohei resigns from his position at Tohma and basically goes ghost which devastates Kaya. Until he finally shows back up and tells her what he's planning. I'm looking forward to seeing how they go forward.

I'm really looking forward to the both of them getting it together and admitting how they're feeling. Kyohei has seemed to have accepted his own feelings, but he hasn't mentioned them to Kaya. He's still feeling shocked that "a mere human" can have such an effect on him. Kaya has embraced her feelings as well, though she tries like hell to keep them buried when she's around him. I'm not sure if Kyohei realizes how in love with him Kaya is or not. They really should just say it out loud now. They certainly know how to have hot sex together, so they just need to get the communication part down. I can't wait to see what these two get up to next.

I am once again left curious at the end of this volume. I really want to know what sort of business that Kyohei is planning to start.
----------------
Kaya has decided that it's best to trust her heart, and express her love, even though she feels that Kyohei will never feel the same about her as she does about him. Funny thing being that he does, and it frightens him, so he feels he must have time away from her.
After quitting his job as the managing director and taking time away from Kaya, he returns to tell her that he can no longer deny the effect that she has on him and his work.
He shows her his new office, and declares that he owns the building, right before taking her as his own again. She questions him about him starting a business, and it seems he will.
I am left wondering not only about this business Kyohei will start with his wonderfully dedicated secretary/lover, Kaya, but also about how much he will open his heart and allow Kaya in.

This volume was provided to me as an eManga by VIZ Media, via Edelweiss, in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Now, I read this series on line so things like volumes begin to make no sense to me. I read the chapters and have no idea which one goes to which :)

On that note, volume 3 picks up and carries on the story of Kaya and the Director. A loyal Secretary to a Vampire boss. Things begin to heat up and cool down and poor Kaya doesn't know if she's going to break.

Oh as a note - this book may be a bit too graphic for those who aren't used to sex in their Mangas. It's not a "hentai" but there are certain scenes in here that are not suitable for small children - this is a 'josei' book and geared toward women who are 18 - 30.

What is it with you MS, why do you have to be interesting. With a main character that's likable and has backbone, standing up to the prideful love interest. Thank you and thank you. But really, the story I'm liking so far. And its what 3 volumes in and there's character development. Isn't it after a couple volumes in when that happens? Anyway, this was something, dilemmas going on with the characters, back and forth but it seems its somewhat resolved by the end I think?

well enough. this kind of retreads the same ground as the last two volumes but hey, i've always got time for a hard working heroine. less time for tohma but ehh. at least he acquired enough sense to realize he loves kaya. let's see how long it takes him to get it together enough to actually admit that to her. 3 stars

Today's review is on Midnight Secretary, volume 3 by Tomu Ohmi. It is 190 pages long and is published by Shojo beat. The cover is a beautiful Orange with Kaya and Kyohei on it. as it is the third volume in the series you need to have read the first two to understand the story. There is no foul language, sexuality, and no violence in this manga. The story is told from first-person close of Kaya. There Be Spoilers Ahead.

From the back of the book- Kaia has been temporarily reassigned to another company, but she won't let that keep her from her lover,Kyohei. she's appointed herself as a special secretary, and she spends each night at his condo helping him work and quenching his thirst for her delicious blood. Love suits Kaya, the trouble looms now that she's caught the eye of her other boss!

Review- Not a lot happens in this volume other than we see Kyohei finally come to terms with the fact that he is in love with Kaia and that he's going to have to deal with that. We do get to see exactly how competent Kaya is and running both the secretarial group for her new company and still managing all of Kyohei affairs at night. At the end of the volume it is revealed that Kyohei has left his father's company to create one of his own. He feels that it is time for him to move on and that he has repaid the debt he owes his family. Of course he wants Kaya to come and be his secretary there but as she has contracted to work at the new company for a year she is currently refusing. It will be interesting to see where the story goes in the next four volumes.

I give this volume a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this mango with my own money.

See in my opinion, this book has been my favorite so far because she doesn't really interact with Touma. Granted, I understand that this manga came out a while ago, maybe I'm looking at it too much with a new age mindset (cause let's be honest my 14-year-old self would have been in love with Touma) but that's exactly my point?
I think I'm being harsh? I'm going to keep reading because I want to see where this goes but at this point, I'm questioning why I'm putting myself through this. Like she got a proposal from the nice CEO with a cat and she turned him down?!?! lol couldn't be me.

When you take out all the recap information at the beginning of each section there's not a lot that goes on between chapters. You really feel the serialization of the series in the complied books. I think this manga would be great for a TV show but would need some serious editing if adapted into a movie or even a full-length novel.
Vol 3 makes me feel like we're speed running vampire troupes. I'm glad to see Kyouhei expressing some emotion even if he's very bad at it. Like really bad.
Gotta wait till the hurricane passes to get back to library to read volume four.
