However she left the job a few years back in order to devote her full attention to writing. She began her writing career in 1998 at a quite young age. Her initial stories were published in monthly urdu digests and later came out in the form of books. She has written about 16 books , comprising of complete novels and compilations of short stories. However it was her novel "Peer-e-Kaamil (S.A.W.W)" which became her identity.
I have not read many urdu novels. But this one was beautiful. The writer distinguished perfectly between desire, love and lust. She show the balance between love for a person and duty to Allah in shape of Iman. If there was a book with perfect hero this was definitely one of them . A book a about what it means to stick to your beliefs and remain strong enough to see it through. A very satisfying and a positive read.
The novel depicts the current state of relationships between a fiancé and a fiancée, as well as the role of men in society.
Umera Ahmed has expertly touched upon the harsh realities of our society. I highly recommend this novel to all women as a must-read.
The novel has affected me positively and I have learned a lot from it.
It gave me a deeper understanding of the societal norms and expectations placed upon women and men in relationships. It also shed light on the importance of standing up for oneself and fighting for one's rights and beliefs.
The novel has inspired me to be more confident and assertive in my own relationships and to never compromise my values and self-respect.
Overall, it has had a profound impact on my perspective and has helped me grow as an individual.
I have completed two days before but updating now because I was being lazy to write a review. This isn't meant that I didn't like the book. But honestly except some Urdu books it's difficult to write reviews of Urdu novels. It wasn't that much charming and fascinating.
Overall this book was a good piece and I enjoyed it a lot. This was a story of girl, Umeed who was completely dependent on his father. She was elder of all her siblings but still wasn't mature. They live in Rawalpindi and there she was engaged with the son of her father's friend and then her father dies.
Now she had to take responsibility of her family. While her fiance, Jahanzaib went out of country for education and job, she went to lahore. There she stay in hostel and sent money to her family by working hard for whole day and think one day all her hardships will end, especially after jahanzaib will return to Rawalpindi again. Her engagement remain for 9 years until*jahanzaib came back.
Jahanzaib nor marry any one, nor he loved someone else but the modern environment of America made Jahanzaib think differently
This is one of the early books of Umera Ahmed which i read and liked the most. The feeling of a person's relationship with Allah can't be described in words and we can't judge the purity of person's faith.
Imaan, Umeed Aur Mohabbat Background A digest read. This is yet another spiritual fiction by Umera Ahmed. Review The title says it all. The story is about Imaan, and Umeed and the love between them. This book deals with the 'change of religion' aspect. How much trust can you put in a person who is willing to give up on the religion for love? Or maybe give up on love for religion. Verdict 5 stars says it all. Don't miss it. And be proud to be a muslim.
Umera ahmed didn't disappoint me with this one. It felt like as i was looking just for this book, the story, the lesson it carries and the way it heals. Infact, I'd recommend everyone to read it atleast once. Yes it's a tad dramatic and makes you livid at times. Still, I repeat still it heals you and makes you cry and there are a lot of cutesy moments as well. The book portrays trauma and it's long term effects. Breaks stereotypes and societal norms and yes it was a worth read
It was a nice read but I think the part where umeed decided to kill Iman was overdramatic and unrealistic. Umeed, who was so religious and took every decision of life according to Islamic learning decided to suicide and kill his husband as well... why didn't she think of Islamic teaching on these decision.. ??
Starting of with the #preface of the book where Umera stated the #book to be one of her top most personal favorites. Here she elaborates her view of looking at the story- the story of #life!
. . The plot was a seemingly prosaic love story about struggles and happy ending. To my surprise, the prose was twisted in the middle #chapters yet, kept me on edge!
. . It starts off with the life of Umeed (the female protagonist) who faces #struggles after loosing her father at a very ypung age. Being the eldest, she survives through thick and thin to feed her family. Her only support was her fiancé whom she loved with all her heart. Things take a turn and Umeed ends up choosing faith over love. She never accepted the place Allah has granted her by not letting her drown in sins. Her deep love for her long lost fiancé never lets her come out of self pity.
- In comes Imaan, a convert to Islam who has taken faith just to marry the women he fell for at first sight- Umeed. But she rejects the proposal thinking his faith won't last too long. What she failed to comprehend is how deep Imaan has gone in his #faith on Allah. Imaan is a true gift Allah presented to Umeed for her #sacrifice, one she still faces regrets for.
..
What did Umeed choose?
What will Emaan choose?
How will their hardships shape them?

Emaan uneed aur Muhabbat is literally a story of #faith #hope and #love. It talks about moments when one is subjected to serious life decisions when you have to choose between our choices and Allah's choices. Times when human is shown two paths, he can go either way but Allah wants to see if one will indulge in wrongful acts or will he come out of the calamity shinning like a star. People of faith are always subjected to hurdles. The rigors of life that shape us and accentuates our bond with Allah.
All these questions are answered while you go on an epic and intense ride to the land of faith and dignity with Umera Ahmed. . .
💠Plus- there is a pinch of #thriller added in the mix as well. I'm sure everyone can enjoy this book.

All in all its 4/5 for me (that's the highest I go btw!).
i really enjoyed this book, and I’m thankful that imaan’s pov was included. At first, I felt like the story was moving too quickly and I was worried it might be too much of a shortcut. Also, imaan se toh mujhe pehle se hi achi vibes arahi thi but there weren’t many scenes of him... I wanted to read more about him. However, around 50–60% into the book, his pov was finally shown, and I’m really grateful for that.
Other than that, I think I’ve never read anyone write on such a topic like Umera Ahmed does. Her writing truly mesmerizes the reader. This story has taught me many lessons that I will inshallah always remember.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This is one of the finest works by Umera Ahmed. A simple story surrounding a girl and the hardships and situations she faces which are a part of our everyday society. The main character develops an instant soft corner in the readers heart. Loved the title of the book and its certainly a treasure in my collection. Every time i read one of her books i get amazed at how brilliant this writer writes. Shes an inspiration!
A moral story of a modest girl ! Every girl should read this. I asked my younger sisters to read this beautiful novel.
A girl was engaged to a rich but indecent guy who asked her to chose between him and modesty.
She chose what a modest girl would choose. And lost the love of her life. However, her firm belief and faith in God got her better than she could ever expect for.
Emaan, Umeed aur Mohabbat [English: Faith, Hope and Love] is a story of a young Muslim girl who chooses her beliefs over love and misfortunes everything. She ends up doubting both faith and love. The story discusses morality in the existence of belief and modesty when its absent. A human's inability to see light (hope) in darkness (distress). The writer beautifully distinguishes between love, lust and desire.
The end was a bit of a drag. But overall a very interesting story.
the first novel i read of umera ahmed...the finest novel i have ever read..its abt just three things...1) Imaan 2)Umeed 3)Mohabbat..i loved it..awesome novel
Re-read: I can totally imagine how a novella of this tire would have made Umera famous in the 90s. Her writing and her characters are evergreen. You can rarely expect to not like an Umera character, especially when you can see how much hardwork and thought process has gone into every aspect of the story.
Iman and Umeed's story wasn't just theirs. The story represents every Pakistani girl and the hurdles that every revert has to face. I was shocked to know that this book was published at the end of 20th century, considering how relatable it is even 24 years later.
While reading the story, I was constantly curious how Umera will conclude this. Umeed clearly seemed to be having psychological trauma and she was constantly testing Iman's patience. That man should've been given an award for his nerves of steel. One thing that is pretty unique to Umera's universe is that she weaves you into her world, binds you with her characters and takes you on the edge of your seat while you keep thinking: "where will this lead to me?" And then she gives you the conclusion and all the pieces of the story, which you thought couldn't be more perfectly elaborated, suddenly start making all the sense and then you know why she wrote that particular story. The same is true for Iman and Umeed's story. The conclusion couldn't have been more well-suited to their struggles. I thought Iman would probably leave her or Umeed won't be able to get herself out of her regrets. But they both did the unexpected. Both had to suffer the hatred of the loved ones for their choices yet, instead of degenrating into negativity, Iman's positive outlook refrained them to repeat the mistakes of their relatives. And Umeed, instead of further agonizing over her past, she chose to follow him too out of that misery. If that doesn't show you the beauty of love and patience then what else does?
I'm pretty sure it will be one of those timeless classics alongwith Peer-e-Kamil (S.A.W.W).

As this is Umera Ahmed's Work so everyone knows It will be incredible for reading. Basically this is the book that is based on Faith, Hope & Love (Iman Ummid aur Mohabbat). A perfect blend of Faith and Love when A situation comes in our life, and we feel bounded and enslaved for losing a loved one and at that time we need to choose a path where Our Imaan is tested according to wills, but Whenever we loose something for our lord or to save our Iman at some point of time we feel that pain for loosing that thing but later Allah SWT returns best thing in best manners that we never imagined. So yes Its a human thing we can feel sorrow for choosing another path but that decision makes us stronger in our Iman. I thought this novel is giving same type of vibe that I have read in her another work as well, but this is truth that Umera Ahmed never disappoints to her readers. This is a beautiful work, written by her we readers just feel story and learn a lot lessons from this kind of work. The dialogue writing is damn awesome.

Iman, Umeed aur Mohabbat is the first novel I read in 2018. It's definitely not my first time reading an Umera Ahmed novel in fact she's one of those authors who initially contributed in making me a pure Novel Lover 😊😂
The main concept of novel is: when you leave something for Allah (swt) then He blesses you with something way more better that you can't even imagine. ❤
The author beautifully distinguished between pure love and lust. The novel also depicts how making assumptions and stories about others could destroy our lives. Overall it's a good read but I felt as if it was unnecessarily dragged with too much details. 😒
Do let me know if you've read the novel or you're planning to read it in near future and what are your thoughts about it. 😊
