I think this might be a textbook designed for use in college/university courses, and I imagine that it costs a fortune for the poor student who needs to buy a copy. For the casual reader like me, who's lucky enough to pick up the book at the library, it's was a nice collection of biographies of "the Caesars", from Augustus through Justinian. A few short-lived emperors are excluded, but it's a good introduction to the topic. As with most books on the subject, it could use more photos.
