I am a huge fan of history and this was an awesome book on the history of Rome. It was a little slower reading than I anticipated, but it was good.

Wow, this book took me a while. I enjoyed watching myself getting so excited about history, and this was a great read if sometimes difficult with all the Latin terms. It was not always easy to remember who's who when things got heated between senators, plebs, the army, emperors, etc. etc. The lot of them sure enjoyed killing each other. Would love to read more about the two slave wars and the revolt of the gladiators (yes, I'm thinking about Spartacus - that TV series was as awesome as it was brutal). One big lesson I learned from reading this book was that nobody is only good or only bad, they may be mostly good or mostly bad, but not only. The worst of the emperors did some good things and the most honest of public servants had some corrupt dealings somewhere.
