How to write great essays covers everything a student is likely to need to research, plan and write academic essays and assignments that will get you great marks.
This is a handy little booklet on how to write essays and assignments. As I already have some experience in this field, this book wasn’t particularly helpful for me, but absolute beginners can take a lot of useful tips from this. It is written in easy to understand language and kept very short (which is nice as no-one wants to read a 600-page book about how to write essays). All in all, a book I would recommend to those unfamiliar with how to write academic texts
decent. our professor gifted our whole class a copy of this each to help us with our essays, and although a lot of it was written for absolute beginners (which is unneeded for someone like me, doing my masters degree lol) it had some good structures and tips.
3* really because it was not for me. Most suitable for secondary/high school students making the transition to univeristy. In fact it would be great for high school students themselves. Overall a little light but still useful.
You can probably guess why I read this book. I found that most of the information was the same things you are always told but did take something new from it, the fishbone method of planning. I use it for plotting though, not my assignments. I don’t think it has led to any improvements to my essays or assignments.
