Celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Transformers with these classic collections! The saga of the Transformers enters a dramatic new phase, as the amazing "Headmasters" debut! Tired of the seemingly endless civil war on Cybertron, Fortress Maximus leads a group of like-minded Autobots in search of another world to call home. They reach the planet Nebulos, but Scorponok and his Decepticons are in hot pursuit...bringing with them war and prompting the strangest team-up of all! "Trial By Fire" collects the entire "Headmasters" limited series, and folds it into the ongoing saga. Including Bob Budiansky's original treatment for the "Headmasters", showcased for the first time and featuring an exclusive new cover by John Watson!
American comic book writer, editor, and penciller, best known for his work on Marvel's Transformers comic. He also created the Marvel character Sleepwalker and wrote all 33 issues of that comic.
I'm not sure if I've just reached Stockholm Syndrome with the Bob Budiansky issues, but I think these are the strongest ones yet, or at least stronger than the more recent ones. I think it's because the issues focusing on the Headmasters seem to be trying to address some actual themes and flesh out the personalities of some of our cast a little. These are also issues that have a large cast; while we focus on just a few, I always enjoy actually seeing more than one or two Transformers an issue.
