I chose this book simply to fulfill one of the prompts on the 2019 Popsugar Reading Challenge, ‘A Choose-Your-Own Adventure Book’. It was owned previously by an older cousin and I suspect from her signature in the book, that she read it in grade school not long after it was published (37 years ago). So it is quite a juvenile book, the adventures are fewer than 10 pages each and there are pictures on about half of them.
To ensure I got through the whole thing, I wrote out the 133 page numbers and crossed them off as I went. It was about even between good outcomes and tragic endings, but all of a fairy tale sort, nothing gory, the gore is mainly implied (the hero gets eaten a lot). Naturally, my favorite storyline was that of the giant octopus, although it didn’t give me the option to choose to live harmoniously with the creature, but at least I didn’t have to kill it either. I’d give the book a solid 2.5 stars, but since they put the octopus on the cover, it earns the extra .5 star.

Picked this up at Goodwill. I don't know that I ever read these choose your own adventure books as a child. The writing isn't stellar, but it's a fun concept. This one involved a lot of fantasy creatures, and I think my childhood self probably would have liked it. Took about half an hour to go through all of the scenarios, and there were some good twists along the way. Also, I achieved the power to fly....

Found this gem in Goodwill. It's like running into an old friend. I loved these choose-your-adventure books when I was growing up.
