Blackout! The entire Southeast was without power ~ but there was still more than enough electricity between Elizabeth Major and Tom Quinlan! They were stranded together in a Dallas high rise for the duration ~ and setting off enough sparks to light up the darkest night.
Hot Copy - Carole Buck
Hotshot newswriters Mitch Nelson and Christy Kavanaugh had loved their way through the big blackout of 1977. So imagine their surprise when they were reunited to cover the great light-out of ‘93. All thoughts of keeping things cool were doused along with the lights!
Steam Bath - Suzanne Carey
The elevator didn’t work and neither did the air-conditioning, so prim-and-proper Melisande Taylor was stuck in a sweaty office with the man not of her dreams ~ sexy, irritating Joe Carbone. And Joe had a lot more on his mind than passing the time with boring conversation . . .

Picked this one up out of nostalgia. Skimmed it. Remembered I didn't like it much in the first place. Linda Howard is not at her best in "Overload." Elizabeth Major had dated Tom Quinlan but broke it off when he started to try to take over her life. Now they're trapped together in a building and forced to work out their issues. "Hot Copy" of Carole Buck has two news reporters who met in the '77 blackout in New York. They fell in love but then parted when their work took them to separate ends of the continent. The story opens with the two of them trying to get married, but they are interrupted by the blackout. Are these two really ready for marriage or is the job going to come between them again? Suzanne Carey's "Steam Bath" starts off withe Melisande Taylor's friend buying her a date. Only the man, Joe Carbonne, is Melisande's boss! The date doesn't go as Joe plans and Melisande ends up breaking her leg. How can Joe get her back? He lets his lawyer decide and the man chooses to sue. When Melisande comes to confront Joe, he takes advantage of the blackout to keep her there, even going so far as to turn off the generator so she'll stick around.
