27 Powers of Persuasion

Rate this book
27 POWERS OF Simple Strategies to Seduce Audiences & Win Allies offers an entirely new philosophy of communication. True persuasion is not about arm-twisting or out-maneuvering your adversary. True persuasion is the creation of consensus from conflict or indifference.

I loved this book. It is written in a great way, so that one can actually learn the techniques while reading. It might also be enough also just 15 powers, as it is a bit of repetition, but this might also be the reason why remembering it is so easy.

Had to read this for an applied behavioral science (i.e. management) class, along with Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People and Stephen Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change.

This book sat way better than the other two. Carnegie came off as idealistic and manipulative (and also kind of outdated re: social norms of communication methods). Covey also came off idealistic, as well as massively preachy and anecdotal. St. Hilaire, while still giving off manipulation vibes, has the most practical and applicable advice of the three.

Would be on shelf because of said practical and applicable advice. A lot of it is common sense/thinking through situations carefully, but it's nice to have them all written out together in a tidy little book.

A wonderful book with a wonderful message. I am not a big fan of self-help books but this one has really influenced me. It is simple to read, understand and implement.

I enjoyed this book, it does give some really good pointers. If I’m honest I think it did drag on a bit too much, and a lot of the examples were politically related, would be more balanced to look at other fields. It’s a keeper!
