This is supposed to be a kid's book, but it's very thorough and perfectly suited to adults, as well. I wish I had read it before I took intro to neuroscience. It was a lot of fun, with a ton of fascinating facts about the brain, and featured page after page of great graphics that brought neuroscience to life. I recommend it to anyone who wants to know more about the brain (we live in the golden age of neuroscience, after all) but doesn't want to take a course or read a textbook.
