I was born in 1959, grew up in Massachusetts, attended SMU (U. Mass, Dartmouth), and moved to Wisconsin to work for TSR (the Dungeons & Dragons people) in 1980. I’ve been here ever since, writing stories, drawing, and raising kids with my wife (who I’ve been with since 1980 as well).

I’ve had more than 30 books published (not counting the anthologies, but counting the ghost-written stuff only alluded to on this site). I also run a small publishing house, Walkabout Publishing. Recently, I've started posting new stories for Kindle on Amazon, in addition to my print work.

You can write to me: fanmail@stephendsullivan.com – but please be kind (and patient), okay? And don't forget to check my web site. You'll like it. Adventure guaranteed. (Monsters optional.)

This is the second book of a trilogy in Dragonlance. It is part of the YA series that involves several series. Catriona is the main character and she has been seen in several of these series but one can use this trilogy as a starting point. In this one, the dragon Thane is still alive and Cat and her friends are determined to find the slaves and free them.

I have read a good number of the YA series from Dragonlance and this one is the best offering I have read. I also believe that Catriona is also the best character from the YA series so any story featuring her helps. I liked how this book started with the explanation of the cliffhanger from the first book. The author handled this well but still left an air of mystery. The author progresses the story with sacrifices from characters, characters having surprise connections with others, and a multitude of twists and turns. In addition, we get several battles without sacrificing character growth. Everything worked well in this book.

I wasn't going to include the YA books in my journey to read all the Dragonlance books. Because of this trilogy, I am glad I did and I look forward to its finale as we are left again with a cliffhanger that I want to know the outcome.
